There was panic everywhere as the fourth Woe started and darkness filled the land.
It was so intense that you couldn’t see your hands if you held them out.
Or so I heard. It was the general complaint. Because of my high level and the angels around , I could still see the area though at a limited range.
The week would have been easier if not for the appearance of the shadow wraiths.
However unlike their previous appearance where you could just dispel them with light, it wasn’t so simple now.
Sure they hated light but it didn’t finish them off completely. You still had to combat them for a while.
The biggest problem was that as the only light source, you had to fend off a continuous stream of wraiths attracted by your light.
The light users learned this the hard way as they were quickly killed off anyti they attempted it.
At the end, everyone’s attention was turned on as the only hope. I expected nothing less than that.
It was a repeating cycle.
Because of my continuous problem solving skills, I was now the unofficial leader.
They owed a lot and they knew it.
As usual, I waited until they were at their wits end. There was nothing as smart as delayed help in these sorts of scenarios.
If I always helped them the first day of each week, my help would get taken for granted as they wouldn’t experience the horrors properly.
~SWOOSH!!~
Sariel suddenly appeared beside .
I had summoned her so she could help with constructing a do of light and also out of nostalgia.
It went without saying that she couldn’t force the latter out of no matter how she tried.
As usual, she appeared unruffled by all the commotion around.
I couldn’t be sure of it but I got the feeling that she now shared the sa disdain I had for these people.
"It’s been a while, you seem to be enjoying yourself," she said after one cursory look in my direction.
"More or less. We have to construct a do around this city."
She looked surprised as if I had just spoken gibberish.
"Just do it. I will explain why later," I said airily, not wanting to delve into the reasons for my decision with her.
"Sure thing."
~WHOOOSHHHHH!!!~
She took off from the ground with a sudden burst of speed.
I watched from the ground as she imdiately got to work and a stream of light shot out of her hands.
It gradually spread across the area she was in which in turn increased the visibility everywhere.
It was fascinating to watch her work.
She imdiately attracted a horde of wraiths but they stopped within a few ters of her and turned back.
I knew that it couldn’t be because of the light alone. Clearly they could sense her aura and it was scary powerful to them.
Within thirty minutes she was done with everything which was quite fast. I wouldn’t have finished it myself that quickly which was why I had called her in the first place. The city was large after all.
The do of light was beautiful to see and we could see how sturdy it was as the wraiths outside evaporated when they got too close to it.
The entire city had assembled outside to see the sight just as Sariel flew down to rejoin .
The leaders had already pushed their way to the front of the crowd and I already saw Lyra making her way towards .
"Once again, the city is grateful to you. Who’s your friend?" She said in a tone laced with disrespect.
She looked completely disheveled and I wasn’t surprised if she was losing her sanity.
She was the only one that saw through and didn’t kiss my ass like the rest of them.
We had clashed more than once on several issues in the previous week and just the other day, I had laughed right in her face.
Her attitude was understandable.
"She is my partner, her na is Sariel," I said, introducing her to Lyra.
"Ohhh, I see..., well that’s fine," she said, looking at the both of us in turns.
I looked at Sariel to see that her cheeks were flushed pink. I had no idea what was going on here. It was strange.
The atmosphere had changed and I felt like I was missing sothing obvious.
"Not in that way. I ant she is my work partner. Not a life partner. Like we fight together and stuff...," I explained, suddenly realizing that Lyra had misunderstood .
"There’s no need to be so defensive then. You’re getting worked up for nothing," Lyra said, cutting short.
For the first ti I didn’t have a retort for that.
Just then there was a loud clamor at the gate and we heard people wailing.
