Alora’s POV

"Are you sure that you want to go over to the palace now?" The physician had asked after I was done getting ready. Lara had brought so clothes the last ti she snuck out to visit again.

"Yes." I answered adamantly even though I am still thinking my decision over. "The Lycan King was kind enough to let stay here and if I don’t start paying my debt soon enough then I wouldn’t pay it off at all."

"I don’t even want to imagine what will happen if and when that happens so please," I clasped both hands together in a desperate plea. "I have to go."

"But your wounds hasn’t healed properly enough. If you strain yourself too much then it’ll only get worse."

"I am feeling a lot better than I did when I first ca in here and honestly, being cooped up here isn’t helping recover at all. It only reminds of everything that I’ve lost." I complained bitterly so that he would at least see reason with my decision.

"But it is not advisable that you do so now."

"I am fine, really." I repeated in an assuring voice so that he actually believes my words. "Trust . I am going to be fine."

"Then take this." He reached for a leather satchel on his table and pulled out sothing from the bag before handing it over to .

"It’s a tonic and herbal paste that I made for your wounds. Take them regularly and apply the paste to your wounds daily. Take care of yourself and don’t hesitate to co back for more when you have exhausted this dosage."

"Thank you very much." I smiled at him before putting on my sandals. After exchanging goodbyes, I head back to the palace. Lara had actually given directions on how to get there so figuring it out on my own was not difficult at all.

On my way there, I tried my best not to pay close attention to the people that walked past . I am scared that if they find out even the smallest detail about who I am and where I actually ca from then they might throw a fit and attack .

I am yet to recover and the last thing I wanted to do was bring any more problems to myself.

I arrived at the palace gates and was directed to go through the servant’s pass after gaining clearance from the guards. Apparently, slaves and Ogas of lower status were not allowed to walk through the main gate. It was an important rule that they took seriously.

As soon as I walked through the gates, my jaw dropped to the ground and I was imdiately smitten by place. I am in awe of how ethereal and magnificent it looked.

The tall, enormous building covered a vast area of land that was beautifully decorated and adorned with warm colors. It scread of nothing but elegance.

In all my life, I have never seen anything as stunning as this. Even Ryan’s palace back ho at my pack didn’t compare to this at all. No wonder he’s regarded as the most powerful King across all seven kingdoms.

What other place will ever compare to sothing like this? I could get lost without even realizing it.

Halfway through the gates, I took a sharp curve and bumped into soone. It was a strange older man that I didn’t recognize.

"My apologies," I whispered, head bowed to the ground. "I didn’t see you there."

"Are you new here? You don’t look like soone from around here." Ca his gruff voice and at that mont, I felt my heart skip a beat, slamming hard against my ribcage.

"Look at when I’m talking to you, girl." He ordered and I slowly raised my head to et his searching eyes that stared at inappropriately.

I could feel his intense gaze checking out as they left my face to stare at my chest, lingering there for a mont before staring at my face all over again as he ran his tongue over his lips.

"You are indeed very beautiful." He confessed but I’m not sure that I wanted to hear that especially from soone like him but I can’t say that either.

Judging from his attire, I can see that he is soone of high status and power. Probably one of the King’s n and prominent figure in this pack. If I should make a mistake then it might cost everything. I have already suffered enough and I don’t plan on going through sothing like that again.

Although, another thing I’m curious about is why soone like him is here, in the servant’s pass and not the main area.

"What is your na?" He asked, his prolonged gaze making uncomfortable each passing mont.

"Alora." I answered, not wanting to be disrespectful. Not like I can be even if I wanted to anyway.

"Alora..." He trailed off, leting the na roll out of his tongue as though he was savoring it. His hands flew over to massage his chin as he wouldn’t stop staring.

I shifted slightly in discomfort. My eyes looking everywhere but him. I don’t like this, not one bit. How is it that the first ti I showed myself here, I had to et soone like him?

I looked around the deserted area to see if anyone would walk by but there was no one on this path but us so I can’t even ask for help if I wanted to. I’m literally stuck here with him.

Stalking closer to him, he placed his hands on my shoulders, squeezing gently. "Well Alora, my na is Conrad. I am one of the council mbers in this pack so you can be rest assured that I won’t do anything to hurt you. I help a lot of people around here, especially the maids."

I nodded stiffly, forcing a smile. I honestly don’t want to talk to him anymore. I wish that he would leave alone but it looks like it’s not happening anyti soon.

"You there!" Soone called from behind and he imdiately lets go of my shoulders to take a step back cautiously. I looked forward to see an older woman approaching us.

"Are you the new maid?" She asked and I nodded strenuously, happy that she had shown up just in ti cause I honestly didn’t know what would’ve happened if she hadn’t.

"Good day, Sire." She greeted him with a curt bow and he returned her greetings cheerfully. "Are you here to see the Lycan King?"

"Actually, I was just leaving." He answered politely even though I could see that he didn’t an it. "I ca to handle a few things over here but I’ll be on my way now. Good day to both of you." He stared at briefly, his lips drawn in a smirk before walking away.

I exhaled heavily as soon as he was out of sight.

"Thank you for—"

"You are the woman who owes the Lycan King aren’t you?" She asked, her face devoid of any emotion whatsoever as she stared at intently.

"Yes, I am." I nod, biting on my lower lip nervously, not knowing what to expect from soone like her because I’m pretty sure that the Lycan King must’ve told her sothing about .

"Good." She blurted out coldly. "I have been expecting you."
