Alora’s POV
"No wonder he was upset that night and had refused to stay when I asked him to." Keira sneered, glaring daggers at after Ryan has left the room. "It was because of you!"
"You threw yourself at him?" She accused, pointing fingers at . "You are so shaless Alora do you know that?"
"First, your father conspired with our enemies to murder my parents and now, you’re following his footsteps and trying to ruin my chances of marriage, aren’t you?"
"Ryan was right," She deadpanned "We should never trust traitors like you. I made a mistake to even consider you my friend when were kids. You’re evil."
"I didn’t—"
"Oh shut up!" She snapped, raising a finger at . "Don’t you dare try to get your way out of this. You deserve more than what you’ve suffered Alora and I pray to the gods that your karma catches up to you soon."
Tears gathered in my eyes when she said that. Firstly, it was my father who was wrongly accused and now it’s .
Just what on earth did I do to deserve this? I have never hurt or treated anymore badly so why ? Why of all people?
"I don’t want to see your face here again so get out!" She yelled, pointing at the door.
Wiping the tears that fell off my cheeks, I picked the basket from the ground and scampered out of her bedroom.
She slamd the door shut, locking outside.
I wish that she would at least believe that I didn’t try to throw myself at the Lycan King. Ryan had lied to her to poison her mind about .
I badly want to clear my na but I know that it’s pointless. She wouldn’t believe even if I walked on a pile of fire to prove my innocence.
He was trying to take away any kind of support that I might have. He wants alone, without any kind of support or allies so that I wouldn’t be able to get away from him.
The entire pack hates . They’ve labeled the traitor’s daughter and now, Keira has joined the mix.
With a deep sigh, I head back to the refining room to put away all her things. There, I t the chief maid who assigned to cleaning and laundry with so other maids.
I spent my whole afternoon washing dirty clothes. By the ti I am finished washing, I ached everywhere.
The other maids separated their clothes and garnts from my pile because they didn’t want to be associated or seen anywhere close to .
I don’t bla them though and for what is worth, I have started to accept my fate. I know that nothing will change in my status so I am slowly starting to live with it.
Picking up the pail of clothes to be spread out on the line, I head towards the back of the palace gates. I stopped abruptly when I heard the other maids badmouthing .
"I can’t believe that her father executed the Alpha’s parents and now, she’s a maid like one of us." One of them said, her voice laced in contempt.
"What I can’t believe is that there was a ti when she was considered the Beta’s daughter." Another one said and they all chuckled.
"She went from a lady of status to a hated palace maid."
"Even her betrothed, the Alpha King rejected her as well." The first one chid in.
"Serves her right," Said the second. "I’m sure that she must’ve felt like she was better than all of us at one point and now she’s stuck here."
"I can’t help but pity her though," Another voice that I didn’t recognize said. This was the first ti she was joining the conversation about .
"Imagine losing your family in one day and being punished for the mistakes of your father." She sighed helplessly. "No one should ever have to go through sothing like that."
"Well I don’t care. Her father had it coming when he chose to conspire against the Royal Family." The second one refuted.
"I can’t pity her," She went on to say. "I’m sure that she must’ve been aware of what her father was planning but still chose to stay silent."
"Solana is right," The first one seconded. "If she really loved the Alpha King like she claid then she should’ve said sothing but she didn’t so she’s equally to bla for what happened."
"There’s still a possibility that she didn’t know and none of you even know if what we’ve been told is the real truth or just another twisted conspiracy." The one who was defending , whispered in a low voice.
"Well, I believe the Alpha King, Lea and you should too." The first one warned her.
"Don’t go about defending that outcast girl to the other maids cause if the Alpha King hears about this, he’d think that you’re conspiring with her." They warned her sternly.
"I hate to say this but Elma is right, Lea." The second one chid in.
"She’s already on the Alpha’s bad books as it is and he doesn’t tolerate anyone who shows her even a twinge of kindness. If you keep defending her and it falls on the wrong ears then you might get killed, just like her parents."
"Don’t say that we didn’t warn you." They said with an air of finality before dismissing the conversation.
Without giving it too much thought, I marched to the back where they were to dry the clothes that I had washed.
They saw and when our eyes t briefly, I could see the shock registered in them. They weren’t expecting to co here. They looked at as though I had caught them doing sothing despicable.
Ignoring their gaze, I spread out the clothes and headed back. Sohow, I wanted to know the maid called Lea, the one that had stood up for but I decided against it.
The last thing I wanted was for her to get into trouble because of and my bad luck.
As much as I don’t agree with what they said, they were right about the fact that Ryan would hurt anyone who tries to help or defend and I didn’t want that.
I was already living with the guilt of my dead parents and I didn’t want to add to it.
By the ti I rounded up the rest of my chores, it was already late at night so I head to my room in the servants quarters but before I could get a chance to rest, a maid barged in.
"The Alpha King’s sister wants you in her chambers right now?" She inford rudely.
I recognized her as one of the maids from earlier but I doubt that it was Lea cause she wouldn’t speak to like that given the fact that she had defended from them.
"But it’s late—"
"I don’t care," She snapped, cutting off. "She is asking for you and if you don’t go to her now, whatever happens to you is none of my business. I’ve done my job by delivering her ssage."
And with that, she stord out of the room. Why would Keira be asking to see so late at night? What could she possibly want now?
