Fang Chenyi rembered his last phone call with Lu Zhisen. The man had been quite respectful then. ’How did he get so arrogant in such a short ti?’

’Is it because I haven’t shown up at the company even once since taking over?’

With this in mind, Fang Chenyi didn’t rush to find Lu Zhisen. Instead, he took his father-in-law and Qi Xiaotian for a stroll around the building.

Just then, a pot-bellied, middle-aged man walked in from outside. He looked exactly like the guy in the photo. This was clearly Lu Zhisen.

Everyone who passed by greeted him respectfully.

"Good morning, President Lu."

"Good morning, President Lu."

However, the middle-aged man didn’t even give a grunt of acknowledgnt in response to the greetings. More importantly, everyone seed to be used to this kind of attitude.

"Heh, what an ego."

Watching the man step into the president’s private elevator, Fang Chenyi reached out and stopped a young employee who had just greeted Lu Zhisen.

"Hey, buddy. Let ask you sothing. Is your President Lu always like this?"

The young man who was stopped froze for a mont. He looked at Fang Chenyi with so confusion, and noticing that none of the three were wearing employee badges, he couldn’t help but ask:

"And you are...?"

Clearly, this junior employee didn’t recognize Fang Chenyi, the chairman.

Fang Chenyi just chuckled and played it off.

"Ah, we’re here for a job interview. We just saw that guy acting all high and mighty, so I was curious. He’s just a vice president, isn’t he? A bit too full of himself, don’t you think?"

Hearing this, the man quickly glanced around. Seeing that no one was nearby, he spoke again.

"Oh, so you’re here for an interview. Let give you a word of advice, buddy. You shouldn’t ask certain questions, and you definitely shouldn’t say certain things. Talking about the boss behind his back is a huge taboo. Alright, you should hurry to your interview."

Of course, Fang Chenyi wasn’t going to just leave it at that. He put on a confused expression and pressed on.

"Hey, man... before I ca, I looked it up online. Isn’t this Lu Zhisen the Executive Vice President? From the way you talk, it sounds like he’s the top dog."

A look of resignation crossed the guy’s face. Waving his hand dismissively, he whispered, "Even a mighty dragon can’t crush a local snake," and then hurried away.

He left Fang Chenyi and his two companions standing there. A cold smile touched the corners of Fang Chenyi’s lips. ’Even a mighty dragon can’t crush a local snake, huh?’

"Brother Fang, should we go up now?"

Fang Chenyi waved his hand and strode toward the reception desk.

When he reached the front desk, a pleasant-looking young woman greeted him with a smile. "Hello, how may I help you?"

Fang Chenyi returned the smile and said:

"I’d like to see your top leader. Is he in?"

The receptionist gave an apologetic smile. "I’m sorry, sir, but our President Lu isn’t here."

Fang Chenyi waved his hand.

"No, I’m not looking for him. I’m looking for your *top* leader."

The receptionist asked, looking a bit confused:

"You’re not looking for President Lu? He is the top leader here."

Hearing this answer, the upward curve of Fang Chenyi’s lips grew more pronounced. He turned and walked directly toward the elevators.

At the sa ti, he found Lu Zhisen’s number on his phone and dialed.

BEEP...

The call connected after just one ring. The voice on the other end was as respectful as ever.

"Chairman, you must be calling about the Director of Finance, right? I’ve already criticized her severely. She’s been with Southern Airlines for over five years and has always been a diligent and dedicated employee."

Fang Chenyi’s brows furrowed slightly. ’Is this guy playing dumb, or is he deliberately defying ?’ He had clearly told him to fire the finance director, but all Lu Zhisen did was give her a "severe criticism"?

Not giving the man a chance to say another word, he cut straight to the point.

"Alright, we’ll talk about that later. I’m at the company. Notify all senior managent to gather in the conference room for a eting right now!"

"What? You’re at the company? O-okay, okay! I’ll co down to greet you right away!"

As Lu Zhisen’s startled cry ca through the phone, it was followed by a series of rustling sounds. Not only that, but a loud CRASH was followed by a woman’s shriek.

Fang Chenyi didn’t bother listening any further and hung up. At the sa mont, the elevator arrived at the top floor.

Just then, a woman with wrinkled clothes ca running out of a room.

She ran right past Fang Chenyi and his group, not recognizing her new chairman.

After Fang Chenyi stepped out, the woman darted into the elevator.

Fang Chenyi’s frown deepened. The room the woman had co from was the Vice President’s office.

He took two steps toward the door just as it opened. The sa portly, middle-aged man from earlier was rushing out, frantically straightening his clothes.

He jumped in fright when he saw Fang Chenyi. When he got a clear look at his face, his heart skipped a beat. Others might not recognize Fang Chenyi, but he had looked at Fang Chenyi’s photo more than once. He instantly knew that this young man was their new chairman. He quickly forced a smile and stamred a greeting.

"Ch-Ch-Chairman! Why did you co up by yourself?"

Fang Chenyi didn’t spare him a glance, walking straight into the office. As he walked, he asked coolly:

"What, am I supposed to report to you before I co up here?"

His father-in-law and Qi Xiaotian followed close behind Fang Chenyi into the office, none of the three giving the man a second look.

Once inside, Fang Chenyi scanned his surroundings.

’My god, this is quite the luxurious setup.’ The entire corporate building was thirty stories tall, and this office was on the thirtieth floor. A rough estimate put its area at no less than two hundred square ters, and the decor was the height of extravagance.

Standing at the door, Lu Zhisen felt a pang of guilt as he watched the new chairman survey the decor of his office. This room was originally a conference room, but he had forcibly taken it over and converted it into the vice president’s office.

Of course, this hadn’t been done in the few days since Fang Chenyi’s acquisition.

In fact, a large part of the reason the previous chairman sold the company was because of this very Lu Zhisen.

The man was quite shrewd. In just a few years, he had gained control of almost the entire company. To put it bluntly, even though he wasn’t a shareholder, a single word from Lu Zhisen could bring the entire company to a halt with a full-scale strike.

And Fang Chenyi was completely unaware of all this...

PS: A lot of you, my brothers, have given feedback that the "To be continued" at the end is just to pad the word count.
