Chapter 95: Chapter 94: Calling the New Boss
Seeing this, Old Wang couldn’t help but smack his lips. ’This Mr. Fang must be quite the character... but why does this number look so familiar?’
Lost in thought, he arrived at the office doorway.
"What are you all doing?! What’s with all this racket?"
As he spoke, his gaze fell upon Zhao Yong, who was still sitting on the floor. His brows furrowed instantly.
Before he could even ask, Zhao Yong cried out from the floor:
"President Wang! President Wang, you see this, right? You have to stand up for ! This Fang Chenyi has been absent without leave for days. When I tried to punish him today, he actually kicked ! An employee with no sense of organization or discipline—what do we even need him for?! Not only should we fire him today, but we also have to make him pay for my dical bills. And Tang Ying, you hit
just now too!"
After hearing Zhao Yong’s rant, Old Wang’s frown deepened. He glanced at Fang Chenyi, who was looking back at him with a casual smile, then waved his hand to cut Zhao Yong off and turned to Fang Chenyi.
"Xiaofang, no matter the reason, resorting to violence is definitely your fault. As for your absence, we should have docked your pay. But considering you’ve been with the company for over three years and this is the first ti sothing like this has happened, we won’t deduct the money."
The words were barely out of his mouth when Zhao Yong erupted.
"No way, brother-in-law! You’re not going to fire them? These two have no respect for the rules. If you let them stay, who in the company will ever take our policies seriously again? And they both hit ! The whole company saw it. They have to pay my dical bills!"
Old Wang waved his hand, cutting Zhao Yong off once again.
"Alright, that’s enough. Get up. You’re a grown man, have so dignity. Whether they’re fired or not isn’t up to
anymore!"
Hearing Old Wang’s words, the corners of Fang Chenyi’s mouth turned up slightly. ’Looks like Old Wang knows I’ve acquired his company.’
"Not up to you? How is that possible, brother-in-law?! This is your company! If it’s not your call, then whose is it?!"
It wasn’t just Zhao Yong; the sa thought appeared in the minds of every employee in the company: What on earth was going on? Why would the boss say sothing like that?
Tang Ying, in particular, had been bracing himself to be fired for sure, so he was unexpectedly happy that the boss didn’t seem to intend to fire them.
However, Old Wang’s next sentence left everyone stunned and rooted to the spot:
"Heh, since Zhao Yong has asked the question, I might as well take this opportunity to explain things to everyone."
He paused, and only when all eyes were on him did Old Wang continue speaking.
"Here’s the situation. For the past year or so, the company’s performance has been poor. I feel I’ve reached the limit of my managent abilities, and I no longer have the sa drive I did when I first started the business. So, after careful consideration, I’ve decided to sell the company."
Uproar.
Like a single stone stirring a thousand waves, Old Wang’s words sent a shockwave through every employee—everyone except Fang Chenyi. The news was so sudden. Who could have imagined the boss would just sell the company they worked for?
What would happen to them now? What about their salaries? What about the contracts they signed?
Seeing everyone’s shock, Old Wang, who had expected this, held up his hands to calm the crowd before continuing.
"Alright, alright, let
finish. Just a mont ago, the sale of our company was finalized. As for whether you’ll be able to stay, or what changes might happen to the company, or any personnel appointnts—that will all be up to your new boss."
Pausing for a mont, Old Wang sighed and continued.
"As for your salaries, I’ll have the finance departnt run the numbers and pay you for this month. Even though it hasn’t been a full month, I’ll round it up to a full month’s pay. You can consider the extra as compensation."
As soon as he finished speaking, the crowd below erupted into a flurry of discussion, and several people started shouting questions at Old Wang.
"But President Wang, you sold the company, so what happens to us? If the new boss doesn’t want , what about the contract I signed with you?"
"Yeah, we signed two-year contracts, and it’s only been six months! This is a unilateral breach of contract!"
Seeing everyone’s agitated state, Tang Ying, who was standing beside Fang Chenyi, also started shouting.
"President Wang! We’re old-tirs who’ve been with you for three or four years! You can’t just wash your hands of us and walk away! What are we supposed to do? A full month’s pay as severance? What good is that?! If the new owner doesn’t want us, you expect us to just go find new jobs?"
Finding the situation sowhat amusing, Fang Chenyi tugged on Tang Ying’s sleeve and said,
"It’s alright, Old Tang. Don’t worry. Even with a new boss, you won’t get fired."
But Tang Ying didn’t take him seriously at all. He glanced at Fang Chenyi’s unconcerned expression, let out a "heh," and lowered his voice.
"Heh, I’m telling you, Old Fang, are you stupid or what? If we don’t squeeze so more compensation out of Old Wang now, who knows what the new boss will be like? What if he’s a real piece of shit and fires us all? Who are we going to cry to then?!"
Emm...
Hearing Tang Ying’s words, Fang Chenyi almost kicked him over too. ’What kind of bullshit is this? What does he an, the new boss is a ’piece of shit’?! Isn’t he fucking cursing ?!’
He rolled his eyes in annoyance, then clapped his hands loudly. When all the confused gazes turned to him, Fang Chenyi finally spoke up.
"Don’t worry, everyone. The new boss bought the company to keep it running, so he definitely won’t fire everybody. As long as you all perform well in your daily work, not only will you not be fired, but you might even get a raise."
As soon as Fang Chenyi said this, so people in the company got upset. This was especially true for the slackers, who already disliked Fang Chenyi for being a top perforr. Now, they started making a fuss.
"Fang Chenyi, are you stupid? ’Perform well’? How the hell would a new boss know who performs well right after they arrive?!"
"Exactly! Do you know what the new boss is like? What if he takes one look at us, doesn’t like what he sees, and replaces us all? Who are you going to complain to then?!"
Seeing the scene spiraling out of control, Old Wang felt a headache coming on. ’If I’d known this would happen, I shouldn’t have announced the news yet. It would have been better to wait until after I t with Mr. Fang and then hold a eting to inform everyone.’
"Alright, everyone, quiet down! How about this? I’ll call your new boss right now and ask if he has ti to co over and hold a eting. He can introduce the company’s future direction and clarify if there will be any personnel changes!"
