Chapter 91: Chapter 90: Broke Down

Just as the young attendant was at a loss, Fang Chenyi pushed open the car door and stepped out.

The already flustered attendant beca even more panicked when she saw Fang Chenyi’s handso face.

"S-Sir, um, this, that... our pump seems to be, seems to be broken. Please wait a mont, just a mont, I’ll go get our boss. Get the boss."

After saying that, she forgot all about the nozzle in her hand and turned to run towards the gas station office.

"Hey, it’s—it’s still pumping..."

Watching the attendant disappear into the distance, Fang Chenyi pointed at the nozzle in his tank, then at the pump, utterly speechless.

But when he glanced at the pump and saw the price had already surpassed seven hundred RMB and was still climbing, he was completely dumbfounded. ’What the hell is going on?’

[Host’s confusion detected. System responding: This vehicle is a super-modified version, equipped with a W16 engine and a matching super-sized fuel tank. At current gas prices, a full tank is estimated to cost four thousand RMB.]

The System’s notification in his mind made Fang Chenyi curse out loud:

"Holy shit, four thousand RMB for a single fill-up?! And that just gets

from the villa to Baida? What the hell kind of gas-guzzler is this!"

This was exactly why Fang Chenyi had the sudden urge to just dump the car. It had the body of a Wuling but a fuel consumption of forty to fifty liters per hundred kiloters. ’For fuck’s sake!’

Just then, the young attendant ca running back with a middle-aged man.

When they got closer, the middle-aged man first gave Fang Chenyi an apologetic smile before glancing at the gas pump.

One look was all it took for the man to be completely dumbfounded. It was already over a thousand, and it was still pumping?!

’This can’t be right. I did fiddle with the pump, it’s true, but there’s no way a minivan should be able to take a thousand RMB of gas and still be going!’

At that thought, the middle-aged man prepared to go over and remove the gas nozzle. But just as his hand was about to touch it, Fang Chenyi spoke up helplessly from the side:

"Uh, fill ’er up!"

Although he was cursing the damn car’s ridiculous fuel consumption in his head, he was afraid he wouldn’t even make it back to the villa if he didn’t get a full tank.

"I’m sorry, sir. This pump might be malfunctioning. Please wait a mont while I check it, and then I’ll give you a satisfactory answer."

The middle-aged man said apologetically as he started to remove the nozzle.

Fang Chenyi glanced at the numbers on the pump, then at his "miracle van," a wry smile tugging at his lips. He waved his hand and said:

"It’s not your pump. My car’s been modified; it has an oversized fuel tank. I estimate it’ll take about four thousand RMB worth."

"Uh... what? Four thousand RMB?! You don’t have an entire fuel tank for a back seat, do you?"

To be honest, Fang Chenyi was curious himself. Logically, a tank that could hold four thousand RMB worth of gas would have to be enormous. But from what he could see, besides the floor in the back row being slightly raised, there wasn’t much difference. Of course, he had no idea if the space under the luxurious sofa in the back was also a fuel tank.

"Heh, just fill it up for

first."

In the end, under the astonished gazes of the owner and the attendant, the Wuling "miracle van" took a stunning three thousand eight hundred-plus RMB of gas before it was full.

After paying, he started the engine, stepped on the gas, and shot off.

The gas station owner watched the Wuling van launch forward, clucking his tongue in amazent.

"Rich people these days really know how to have fun. Spending hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, to modify a van that’s only worth a few tens of thousands. With that kind of money, wouldn’t it be better to just buy a big rcedes?"

Sitting in this "miracle van," Fang Chenyi’s heart was bleeding. ’Even if I’m rich, I can’t just squander money like this. That one step on the gas probably cost more than what I’d make from collecting several bottles...’

SPUTTER... SPUT.

However, the van had barely launched forward and hadn’t even left the gas station when the engine sputtered a couple of tis and died completely.

Sitting in the driver’s seat, Fang Chenyi was stunned by the sudden stall. He tried restarting the engine a couple of tis but found it wouldn’t turn over.

"Uh, what’s going on? It broke down after just one drive? No way!"

The owner, who had been marveling at the van from behind, was taken aback when he saw it suddenly stall. He walked over, looking puzzled.

"What’s wrong, young man?"

The middle-aged owner reached the front of the van just as Fang Chenyi was getting out. He asked, a little confused.

"Uh, I have no idea. It just suddenly won’t start. Um, I need to make a call first."

As he spoke, Fang Chenyi pulled out his phone and found the number for that foreigner, ’Gou Dan’.

He dialed, and the call connected after just a couple of rings.

"Oh, my dear Mr. Fang! It is such an honor to receive your call."

Fang Chenyi was extrely frustrated and in no mood for pleasantries, so he got straight to the point.

"Here’s the deal, Gou Dan. My Wuling ’miracle van’ suddenly won’t start. Do you think it’s a quality issue?"

The person on the other end was taken aback, then asked with so confusion:

"Oh, Mr. Fang, you’re talking about the Wuling ’miracle van’? That’s impossible. Our company’s technicians have professionally evaluated it. Not only is it safe and comfortable, but its performance is arguably world-class. How could it have broken down? Tell you what, Mr. Fang, I happen to still be in Qinhuang Island. Send

your location, and I’ll head over right away."

There was nothing else to do. Since the van wouldn’t start, Fang Chenyi sent his location and got back in the car to wait.

He didn’t know where this Gou Dan character was coming from, but just five or six minutes later, a Bentley pulled up in front of Fang Chenyi’s Wuling van.

Following that, Gou Dan and two other foreigners got out of the car. The owner of the small gas station was stunned by the sight.

’The young guy in the van made one phone call and summoned soone in a Bentley. This kid must be a rich second-generation heir.’

Thinking this, he hurried over to get a closer look.

Seeing Gou Dan arrive, Fang Chenyi also pushed open his door and got out. Before he could speak, Gou Dan ca right up, ready to give him a hug.

Fang Chenyi swiftly dodged to the side, a wry smile on his face as he said:

"Heh. Mr. Gou Dan, didn’t I tell you last ti that we in Huaxia don’t really do hugs? Then today, allow

to teach you another piece of Huaxia etiquette: a traditional bow with clasped hands."

After a bit of banter, Gou Dan earnestly mimicked the bow towards Fang Chenyi before getting back to the matter at hand.

"Oh, Mr. Fang, please don’t tell

you filled up your beloved car here~"

Fang Chenyi glanced around at the gas station. "It’s a little small, and not a major brand, but it seems okay. What does that have to do with my car breaking down?"
