"Mr. Simon, should we have a talk?"
A question that made Simon look at Jiang Cheng in a different light.
"Jiang, how can I be sure you’re not setting up?"
Jiang Cheng smiled calmly.
"I have no evidence to prove my intentions, as I said, the choice to trust is yours."
Jiang Cheng didn’t say much as usual; leaving so things unsaid is often the best negotiation tactic.
She leaned back in her chair, her expression revealing nothing, her gaze unusually powerful, leaving Simon unable to discern anything.
But within, Simon had begun to trust Jiang Cheng’s words a little.
Because Jiang Cheng wouldn’t profit from this matter, or at least not yet.
Simon looked at Jiang Cheng again and asked, "Why are you helping ?"
Jiang Cheng gave a faint smile and looked at George, "Because Mr. George said you ultimately made a promise as an honest businessman."
Upon hearing George’s na, Simon’s expression softened sowhat, revealing a look of reminiscence.
"George helped my mother."
Upon ntioning his mother, Mr. Simon’s deanor grew a touch gentler.
"I co from a single-parent family; my mother took on three jobs to put through school. She fell ill right after I graduated."
"At that ti, I was helpless, and George helped her."
Mr. Simon took a deep breath and detached himself from his mories, calmly watching Jiang Cheng.
"What do you want?"
Jiang Cheng unabashedly praised, "Mr. Simon, you’re very astute."
"What I want is simple, for you to do business with Hua Xia, and if possible, invest here in the future; it will not disappoint you."
Simon was slightly surprised.
"Is that all?"
"That’s all."
Jiang Cheng’s definitive four words slightly startled Simon’s heart.
In Country M, it seed or was already impossible to find businessn fighting for their country.
Yet the young woman before him wasn’t a businesswoman.
Simon pondered for a few monts and then spoke, "I will investigate."
Jiang Cheng nodded in agreent, "Of course."
"However, may I boldly ask what agreent you signed with the R party?"
"Certainly."
Simon chose not to conceal, "I am a liquor rchant, constantly cooperating with the R party and Matsuboto, primarily dealing in the whiskey business."
Whiskey?
Fragnts of information in Jiang Cheng’s mind connected upon hearing the word whiskey.
"Mr. Simon, perhaps you should have soone carefully examine the quality of this batch of whiskey, you should know that counterfeit or diluted liquor is not difficult to produce."
Simon nodded seriously, "I will investigate."
Jiang Cheng did not say more.
Simon was already a qualified businessman; only what he found out himself would he believe.
However, if she guessed correctly, the R country truly intended to cheat Simon this ti.
If Simon bought counterfeit goods, he would suffer losses upon returning ho, coupled with subsequent financial attacks, Simon would go bankrupt.
The speed of going bankrupt was feared to be swift as well.
This was likely why she hadn’t heard Simon’s na before.
After the three finished speaking, they left the small compartnt one after another.
Simon imdiately began investigating.
Jiang Cheng first saw Mr. George off and then returned to the trade show.
As for the R party...she intended for them to trip over their own feet, with nothing gained.
Revenge... of course, it must strike the enemy at their most painful point.
It was already noon, most foreign guests had left for lunch and rest.
The trade hall was half empty.
Jiang Cheng took a work al in a lunchbox and low-key sat in the corner to eat.
"May I sit here?"
Jiang Cheng looked up, it was Hua Ying.
Since they parted at the train station, they had only t briefly without speaking.
"Of course."
After inviting Hua Ying to sit, Jiang Cheng asked, "By the way, I don’t know which language you translate?"
"French."
Hua Ying replied, and Jiang Cheng was surprised, raising an eyebrow.
"Why did you learn French?"
"Well... my grandfather could speak it, so I learned a bit, but not very well. However, since few people know it, I get to participate every year."
ntioning his grandfather, Hua Ying had a hint of lancholy, and Jiang Cheng thought of the decade-long dearth of foreign language skills.
"Being able to speak it is impressive."
Jiang Cheng didn’t bring up the possibility that his grandfather might return, instead changing the topic to foreign rchants Hua Ying dealt with.
"I’m dealing with jewelry rchants. They looked at our jade carvings but weren’t very interested."
Jewelry rchants?
Jiang Cheng’s first thought was: very wealthy.
Then she rembered the jade stone exhibit she visited.
Four words ca to mind: "ticulously crafted!"
The Hua Xia jade stone exhibit displayed the finest carvings, aiming to encapsulate 5,000 years of culture.
But, why would a jewelry rchant want such large, intricately carved jade?
Jiang Cheng paused mid-bite.
Hua Ying noticed and asked directly, "Don’t you like it? I haven’t touched my at, would you like so?"
Jiang Cheng, taken aback, realized what Hua Ying ant.
"No need, I’m not picky, I can eat anything."
"I was just thinking... Hua Ying, would you mind if I accompanied you with the jewelry rchants this afternoon?"
Hua Ying imdiately shook his head.
"Why would I mind? We are all translators."
Jiang Cheng smiled knowingly and thanked him.
The two continued eating; afterward, Jiang Cheng asked Hua Ying a few more questions.
After asking enough, she first went to the jade stone exhibit.
The factory director of the jade exhibit was frowning over a lunch box.
"At this rate, we won’t complete our quota."
"Have our skills fallen short?"
The factory director had just finished saying when a master carver, head bowed while eating, took exception.
"Don’t bring into this; what’s wrong with my skills?"
The factory director looked helplessly at the master carver, not daring to offend, "That’s not what I ant."
"I’m just worried; we use the best materials and the best carving; why can’t we sell them?"
Jiang Cheng arrived just in ti to hear the factory director’s sigh.
She approached cheerfully, introducing herself, "Hello, factory director, I’m Translator Jiang Cheng."
"I know you, you ca for a drinking match with Little R in the morning; I was cheering for you!"
A young man behind the director stood up excitedly as if eting an idol.
Jiang Cheng thanked him, making the young man embarrassed.
"Translator Jiang, is there sothing you need?"
"Sort of, I heard from a translator that a jewelry rchant looked at our exhibit, but the effect wasn’t great, is that so?"
The factory director stared at Jiang Cheng; if it wasn’t for the sincerity in her eyes, he would have thought she ca to mock them.
"It’s not great, and we’re analyzing it."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Cheng first praised the craftsmanship, to the extent that even the master carver regarded her as a kindred spirit.
After enough praise, Jiang Cheng said to the people at the jade exhibit, "I have a plan."
*
Around 1:30 PM, foreign guests returned in succession, and translators went back to work.
Jiang Cheng followed behind Hua Ying and t the jewelry rchants he ntioned.
Hua Ying introduced Jiang Cheng, but the French jewelry rchants weren’t very interested, appearing uninterested.
Jiang Cheng nudged Hua Ying, and Hua Ying imdiately said, "Mr. Samuel, we’ve displayed new jade products, why not take a look?"
