Capítulo 801: Chapter 10: Flooded

A few minutes later.

“Intrude!” Soone knocked on the door from outside, sounding like the Beastman innkeeper.

Ascola opened the door and saw the Beastman innkeeper standing outside, carrying a toolbox in his left hand and a stack of wooden boards in his right, speaking in a muffled voice:

“I’m here to fix the windows.”

“Are there many guest rooms with broken windows?” Aske stepped aside and casually asked.

“Every room on the third floor and above is completely blown out, it’s not just yours.” The Beastman innkeeper said as he entered the room and saw only Sigrdrifa sitting on the bed, curiously asking, “Where are your other wives?”

Aske: ???

“In the bathroom.” He didn’t want to waste a lot of words explaining to a stranger.

“Huh.” The Beastman innkeeper gave a knowing smile that only n understood and then placed the wooden board on the broken window fra, took a nail, and started hamring.

“Can’t find any window workers now, let’s wait until tonight’s over. I’ll seal your windows first so you don’t get rained on.” The Beastman innkeeper bit the nail, swiftly using the wooden board to seal the window, then covered it with a few layers of burlap, and nailed it in again.

“Alright, call downstairs if you need anything else.” He picked up his toolbox, “I won’t disturb you anymore.”

Seeing the Beastman innkeeper off, closing the door, Aske turned around and saw Sigrdrifa studying the sealed window.

“Have you figured sothing out?” Aske asked with a smile.

“I’m thinking about sothing.” Sigrdrifa said.

“What is it?”

“If even windows can be blown apart, wouldn’t breaking the wooden board be even easier?” Sigrdrifa said, “I think this window fra seems sturdier than the wooden board nail, it’s embedded in the wall with screws.”

Aske: ………

“There’s a wardrobe over there.” Aske said, “Use the wardrobe to prop the window board.”

Sigrdrifa nodded, then picked up the wardrobe and completely blocked the window.

“Done!” The Norman girl clapped her hands and laughed, “You can sleep peacefully now.”

“Hmm.”

Aske responded and lay on the bed to sleep.

The wind outside was still howling, leaking through the gaps in the wooden board and twisted into a sound reminiscent of wailing, echoing softly in the room.

Sigrdrifa lay on the bed and, after waiting about half an hour, confird Aske had fallen asleep before stealthily crawling into his bed.

Then she snuggled into his arms.

“Doesn’t feel particularly special.” She murmured, but in the warm embrace of the man, she gradually couldn’t resist the drowsiness and fell asleep quietly.

1 AM.

Aske suddenly woke up, realizing he had been sleeping for a long ti and Sigrdrifa had not called him yet.

Then he opened his eyes and saw Sigrdrifa curled up in his arms, her long white hair draped over her shoulder, like a big ragdoll cat.

Aske: ………

Wait, weren’t you supposed to watch the first half of the night?

He carefully tried to withdraw his hand from under her neck, but Sigrdrifa unsatisfied, turned over and hugged his neck.

Gurgling. Her warm lips intimately pressed against Aske’s neck, making inexplicable murmuring sounds in her sleep.

Aske silently stretched out two fingers, tickling her under the armpit a few tis, and Sigrdrifa then giggled in her sleep and turned over again, going back to sleep.

Getting out of bed, Aske changed his clothes, got off, and suddenly found the floor was wet.

Upon closer inspection, he realized a thin layer of water had accumulated on the floor.

The water was flowing down from behind the cabinet wall. Aske moved the wardrobe and saw that the burlap covering the wooden board was completely soaked, with a lot of rainwater hitting the sealed wooden board, creating dense sounds almost ignored as background noise.

This… the wooden board can seal the window, but it can’t stop the rainwater from seeping through, gotta use waterproof tape.

Of course, Aske was only staying here for one night and didn’t plan to help the Beastman innkeeper repair the house. He took a washbasin from the bathroom and placed it on the floor to catch the rainwater dripping from the lower end of the wooden board.

Then he went out the door.

Locking the door, Aske hurried downstairs, seeing the ground floor lobby almost flooded. The Beastman innkeeper stood barefoot in the middle of the lobby, chatting leisurely with a few other guests who also got up.

“…I’ve been at Hero Harbor for so many years, and I’ve never seen such heavy rain.” The owner said, “In the North, one winter it snowed heavily, which could be compared to this Heavy Rain.”

“That heavy snow fell for three days and nights, everyone hid indoors afraid to go out, and the firewood in the stove couldn’t stop, if it stopped people would quickly freeze.”

“After the snow stopped we went out pushing the door, couldn’t move it, sealed by the snow outside. Later, we broke through the roof to get out… Of course, the house can keep snow out, but the rainwater seeps in, very annoying.”

“This ti there won’t be a flood, right.” A Dwarf guest laughed, “I can’t swim.”

“Then you can just hold onto a wooden board.” The Beastman innkeeper said, “As long as you don’t get swept into the sea, you basically won’t drown.”

“Perhaps we should leave the inn and run to the hill.” Another Elf guest suggested, “Before the flood cos.”

“Don’t ntion it, if we encounter a mudslide or landslide it’s worse.” The Dwarf guest said, “The soil here isn’t good, collapses as soon as it rains.”

“Did the Naga guards outside have any statent? About this Heavy Rain, did they notify you to evacuate?” Aske went down the stairs and asked.

The two guests and the Beastman owner turned their heads upon hearing.

“What can they say?” The Elf guest smiled, “Those Naga can swim, probably didn’t even consider the flood?”

“But the port is closed.” Aske reminded without changing expression, “If there really is a flood or mudslide, heading to the ship is actually the safest option.”

This reminded them, after all, with rising waters, the ship wouldn’t be flooded.

So the Beastman owner slapped his forehead and said: “I rember there’s a small boat in the warehouse at the back.”

He hurried to the back, while the Dwarf guest looked up, curiously asking Aske, who was much taller than him:

“Human, where did you co from?”

“Constantinople.” Aske answered.

“Constantinople?” The Dwarf and Elf exchanged glances, it’s an unheard-of place na.

“At the eastern end of the diterranean, a strait city at the intersection of the diterranean and Black Sea.” Aske added.

“I rember that’s under the High Elves Empire territory.” The Elf guest said, “Quite so distance from here. Did you co here for trade?”

“Haha, no.” Aske said, “I’m a rcenary.”

The faces of the two guests imdiately changed a bit. A rcenary, isn’t that a euphemism for a pirate?

“Uh, I’ll go see if the Beastman owner’s boat is found.” The Elf guest gave a laugh, excused himself, and left.

“I better go too, after all, I’m short, easier to get subrged.” The Dwarf guest quickly followed suit, leaving only Aske in the hall.

Aske walked to the open door, looking at the ankle-deep water outside and the torrential rain still pouring down, slightly furrowing his brows.
