Capítulo 799: Chapter 8: A Single Request

Half an hour later.

“Nobody? What do you an?”

“The priests are not here.” The Naga guard showed an embarrassed expression.

After all, he was worried that these humans might leave early, so he had his companions watch over them, but unexpectedly, the priests stood them up, making these humans wait for half an hour for nothing.

“Two hours ago, we found the blood of a Leviathan hatchling in the eastern sea. We suspect that so pirates attacked it while passing by,” the Naga guard patiently explained, “If the hatchling escaped alive, it could attract the Leviathan mother, so the priests have already urgently tracked its movent.”

The girls:………

“Would pirates attack a Leviathan hatchling?” Aske asked with an unchanging expression.

“Well, Leviathan is a giant creature. They don’t just beco big overnight,” the Naga guard sighed, “In the first year after being born, they’re about the size of a regular whale, so they might be mistaken for a whale and attacked by pirates.”

“Of course, since a year-old Leviathan hatchling is relatively fragile, it mostly just has stronger Life Force than a whale, so most of the ti, pirates will kill them without causing any disasters.”

“On rare occasions, the hatchling escapes the area alive, leading the mother back here, and that situation becos very dangerous. An enraged Leviathan will destroy everything in its visible range within the sea, be it islands or schools of fish.”

The girls:…………

“Alas, considering it’s mutation season right now, encountering a Leviathan during this ti is undoubtedly adding insult to injury for Hero Harbor.” The Naga guard said, “Anyway, I suggest you don’t leave the island and wait for the priests to return.”

“Don’t leave the island?” Aske asked, “And the reason for this is?”

“Magic Tide is coming.” The Naga guard answered, “Mutation, magical creatures, and now Leviathan have made the outer seas extrely dangerous, no longer suitable for sailing. Tomorrow we will seal the port, I suggest you find a place to rent in the city for a few days.”

“Of course, if you must leave the island, then please depart today, tomorrow all ships will not be allowed to pass.”

The Naga guard left, leaving the girls to look at each other uneasily, with faces full of guilty expressions.

“Ah.” Sigrdrifa sighed in the Mind Communication Channel, “If only I hadn’t gone whaling.”

“If only I hadn’t stopped you.” Eleanor also began to reflect, “Aske, should we leave quickly, or follow the guard’s advice and temporarily rent a place in the city?”

“Let’s rent.” Aske answered, “Since the Magic Tide can happen at any ti, leaving the island now seems quite dangerous.”

“The island isn’t necessarily safe either?” dea pondered aloud, “There’s the Leviathan potentially arriving here, and the island coming from past tilines—both are highly risky threats.”

“Speaking of risk.” Aske pondered for a mont, “Miel, can you look into the future world line?”

“The future world line…” Miel frowned, observing, “It’s extrely scattered, I’ve never seen a future so fragnted, even the timing of the Magic Tide is uncertain with nearly a hundred possibilities, completely impossible to ascertain.”

“However, generally speaking, the risk of leaving the island far exceeds staying, unless we abandon the ship and let Peggy carry the Ancient Book, flying full speed toward the continent, aiming to cross the ocean within a day.”

So Aske pondered again:

Abandoning the ship is obviously not possible. Returning to the Iberian Peninsula, avoiding the uncertain arrival of the Magic Tide, then contacting Church Court to send another ship… the ti involved is almost uncountable, by the ti everyone sets out again, we might all be demigods, so why seek Heaven Mountain, let’s go fight the Bronze Dragon directly!

Eh, that actually sounds kind of nice?

He was just getting a little tempted when dea echoed saying:

“Hmm, what Miel said makes sense. Abandoning the ship cos at a too high a price, not to ntion if the Magic Tide suddenly arrives while we’re flying back to the continent, or we happen to encounter the Leviathan, wouldn’t it be better to stay on the island? The Squad Leader’s decision-making is spot on.”

The sa person who raised the objection, the girls were sowhat speechless.

“Alright then, let’s go find a house.” Aske concluded.

Finding a house is quite simple. After all, The Azure Longsword crew has the presence of Fire Island, even in an open-air environnt, arranging individuals to take turns keeping night watch, with the others returning to Fire Island to sleep, can easily be managed.

So everyone returned to the originally grimy tavern. Its second, third, and fourth floors consisted of inn rooms, due to higher prices, it wasn’t fully rented yet.

The Beastman innkeeper tried eagerly to rent them five double rooms, but the girls firmly insisted they only needed one.

The innkeeper said, our room beds are small, even combining two beds isn’t enough to sleep nine people, the girls said it’s fine, we can sleep on the floor.

After a prolonged debate, the Beastman innkeeper finally conceded, even looking at Aske with a changed expression—in his original hotown, even the toughest Beastman chieftain would call up at most three wives to bed. Eight… are you a damn planting machine?

After receiving the reverent stare from the innkeeper while paying the room fare, everyone took the keys and went upstairs. Although the basent tavern was extrely damp, the air upstairs in the inn was surprisingly fresh with no moldy sll.

Entering the room, most of the furnishings were stone-made, perhaps due to the fear that wood would mold in the humid air. The two small beds were wooden, with surfaces painted with anti-corrosion red dye, and clean reed mats laid on the bed boards.

“Who’s keeping watch tonight?” Nora asked.

“.” Sigrdrifa replied.

So everyone prepared to teleport back to Fire Island, intending to conduct evening training and then rest and sleep.

Aske, however, didn’t rush back. He opened the inn room’s window, looked towards the western sky’s dark clouds. Those dense, heavy black clouds pressed extrely low and seed to be swiftly approaching.

A storm is imminent.

If not for his Intuition sensing it, he wouldn’t have decided so quickly to stay on the island, especially when Miel also confird that the risk of leaving the island was greater.

“Aske.” Sigrdrifa, in the bathroom, untied her headband in front of the mirror, letting down her previously tied-up white long hair, then poked her head out to ask, “Are you going to accompany outside on night watch tonight?”

“Ah?” Aske was a bit surprised, “You’re worried there’s danger tonight at the inn?”

“Um, yes.” Sigrdrifa nodded, but her gaze darted around, obviously lying, “dea said this island is from a past world line, I’m worried about unknown dangers, if you could accompany outside tonight, that would be great.”

Aske originally wanted to say, Sigrdrifa, you’re a seasoned Transcendent, you should learn to handle such mutations independently!

But about the island from 3000 years ago, such a thing he never heard of in the original ga world, so after thinking for a mont, he seriously stated:

“How about this, I’ll watch tonight, you go back to Fire Island and sleep.”

Sigrdrifa: ???

“But if you’re alone, there might be danger…” she tried to persuade further.

“Er, if there’s danger I cannot handle, then it wouldn’t matter if you’re here or not.” Aske said subconsciously.

“Request!” Sigrdrifa exclaid angrily.

“What?”

“I want to cash in a request!” She spoke, slightly refusing, “Rember when we bet on whether there were whales around, and you lost, you promised to fulfill my request!”

“Stay in this room with tonight for night watch!”
