Revive Rome: Wait! Why not make the empress fall in love with me first? Chapter 768: 140 The Highland Swordsman and the Lobster Spea
Chapter 768: Chapter 140 The Highland Swordsman and the Lobster Spearn
The Bull rcenary Group headquarters, where Deputy Squad Leader Prince Ferdinand sat in the center with a gloomy expression.
The other mbers of the Royal Faction were trembling with fear at his side, their faces pale as ghosts, not daring even to breathe too heavily.
“Everyone here is a cadet in our Bull rcenary Group, with far more experience and credentials than those in ordinary, small rcenary groups,” the Prince’s words brewed with imnse anger, like a storm about to break, “Can anyone tell why we can’t even handle a small rcenary group?”
Not a word was spoken.
Of course, those who could beco mid-level officers in a Large rcenary Group wouldn’t be foolish enough to think that the Prince was really asking a question… he was rely venting his rage.
Naturally, The Azure Longsword was no easy target either.
When they first rejected the Prince’s recruitnt attempt, everyone scoffed at them. Considering the Prince’s renowned spiteful nature, he was bound to seek revenge against The Azure Longsword. Everyone just had to wait and see how those fools would et their end.
After learning that The Azure Longsword had sided with the Great Captain and was sent to the Lucitania Great Forest to deliver a ssage, Prince Ferdinand dispatched spies as ssengers to the inevitable route to The Azure Longsword, Sevilla City State, and inford the Undead Demigod Black Knight who was stationed there.
Logically speaking, an Undead Demigod should have annihilated a human rcenary group without a demigod on its own side, shouldn’t it?
Yet The Azure Longsword arrived safely in Lucitania, without any signs of undead interception, which led Prince Ferdinand to curse these undead as worthless.
Here cos the question: If the undead are worthless, what does that make us humans who were beaten by these undead at the base of the plateau?
So everyone ignored this embarrassing question, eagerly offering strategies. Since the undead failed to stop them, why not turn to the Conservative Party within the Lucitania half-elves?
The Conservatives, led by Elder Delar, and the side represented by Prince Ferdinand of the Aragon Royal Family, had maintained a tacit understanding for a long ti.
Whenever Elf Queen Maya intended to seek more buyers for the Wizard Stone mines, bypassing the Aragon Royal Family, Elder Delar would imdiately incite public disturbances, spreading mistrust and hostility towards the human outsiders with great exaggeration.
However, the families of these Conservative Party mbers were the ones obtaining the largest shares of the secret mining profits smuggled to the Aragon Royal Family.
Because of this vested interest, as per usual practice, the Conservatives would certainly lend a hand at the secret request of the Aragon Royal Family and take care of the problem presented by the small rcenary group, The Azure Longsword.
However, the results from Lucitania still ca as a shock.
Not only did the Conservative Party crumble completely, starting with the banishnt of Elder Delar, but Elf Queen Maya also finally achieved her goal of regaining power. One of the first things she did after consolidating her authority was to cut off the secret smuggling trade with the Aragon Royal Family, instead selling the Wizard Stone yields to the Weisbach family of Divine Luo, the Olympia City of Sirius, and the Otwell Family of Sicily Island.
This made even the King of the Aragon-Castilla Kingdom, Prince Ferdinand’s father, so furious that he wrote a letter vehently questioning him. Did so conflict occur with the elves? Why did the trade channels suddenly cut off? Do you know how much the revenue for this month’s treasury has been reduced?
Facing his father’s interrogation, what else could Prince Ferdinand respond with? At that mont, he could only sit gloomily in the center of the hall, summoning all his subordinates, brainstorming, and incidentally venting his anger.
The latter was the main purpose, as for the forr… The Azure Longsword rcenary Group was now cooped up in their stronghold, unwilling to co out, and nobody could just charge in with swords drawn, right? There was no way to sche against them!
“Your Highness!” Just then, another officer burst into the room, “The Squad Leader of The Azure Longsword… has taken on a mission!”
“What mission!” Prince Ferdinand imdiately stood up invigorated.
Given the strength of The Azure Longsword and the high regard Great Captain Deslar had for them, it must certainly be so super challenging mission, such as assassinating an Undead Demigod, breaching a stronghold, or cutting off the enemy army’s supply lines. This would allow Ferdinand to kick them while they were down and set a trap to crush The Azure Longsword in one fell swoop.
“It is…” The officer had rushed over as soon as he got the news and was still gasping for breath, “to head to the Central Mountains, to support the Golden Sparrow rcenary Group!”
“The Golden Sparrow rcenary Group?” The crowd exchanged puzzled looks, “The one with tall hats and wearing won’s dress from Brittania?”
Prince Ferdinand, however, showed a thoughtful expression, pondering for a mont before hastily writing a letter, which he handed to a spy nearby.
——————————————
The Golden Sparrow rcenary Group, from Brittania, is a semi-militarized, semi-feudal rcenary group exclusively funded by the Anjou Royal Family.
On one hand, they have highly militarized characteristics; on the other, most of these rcenaries also own royal estates directly under the Brittania Island. So, in reality, these rcenaries could all be considered military nobles… the most basic kind.
The so-called royal estates were lands still owned by the Royal Family, from which the rcenaries received profits after deducting necessary operating expenses. Once a rcenary chose to leave the Golden Sparrow rcenary Group, the Royal Family would imdiately strip them of any subsequent earnings, thus binding the rcenaries to the group.
The Central Mountains where the Golden Sparrow rcenary Group was stationed was the southern border of the Castilian region and also the second frontline against the undead armies. Due to the Central Mountains’ elevation far above the La Mancha Plateau, it offered a high ground advantage to the human forces, and their counterattacks mainly pushed forward from there.
When Aske arrived at the fortress of the Central Mountains, he saw scattered battle lines fighting fiercely all over the plateau.
On the undead side, there were groups of armored Skeletons, as well as corpulent Ghouls scurrying around like calves, a dense sea of soldiers that was daunting to behold.
On the human side… the front row consisted of “Highland Swordsn” in skirts and leather armor, their faces painted with yellow and blue woad, swinging their Great Swords like cyclones; the back row was made up of “Lobster Gunn” in red sweaters and bearskin hats, who fired their Rifles with a ‘pop pop pop’.
Each encounter began with the Lobster Gunn firing a volley, felling the Ghouls in the front, followed by the Highland Swordsn charging forward, slashing wildly, while the Lobster Gunn took the chance to reload and cock their guns. Seconds later, the Highland Swordsn turned and retreated as the Lobster Gunn raised their Rifles to aim again, and another volley ensued.
This Rifle, which required cocking for each shot, had both the bullet and the pan specially made, with excellent armor-piercing ability against the undead, and the recoil was enormous. As a result, the Lobster Gunn were sturdy n around one ter sixty in height, who needed to brace the shock-absorbing grip against their shoulder to aim and barely manage to fire.
The Highland Swordsn, on the other hand, were robust n averaging one ter eighty in height, and despite the collective oddity of wearing skirts… According to so players, running back and forth at high speed made it easy to tear at the crotch of slightly tight pants, only skirts allowed for liberty to stride widely.
Of course, crossdressing enthusiasts often claim they don’t like crossdressing, so such explanations remain questionable.
