Chapter 679: Chapter 56: Storytelling

“Wow, Aske, your bed is so big!”

Mia exclaid excitedly, making a move to jump onto the bed and fool around, but luckily Miel caught her just in ti.

“Idiot!” Miel said with an exasperated tone, reminding her, “Every room has a bed of the sa size.”

“But the Squad Leader gets to sleep on such a big bed by himself!” Mia protested as if it were the most obvious thing in the world, “And we have to squeeze two people into one bed! Damn it, Aske, you’re so sly!”

I’m actually squeezing in with four people! Aske simply couldn’t comnt on her statent and just rolled his eyes silently.

Soone inside the blanket poked his waist with a finger, nudging him to hurry and send the two of them out.

“Actually, I was already sleeping,” Aske said.

“Wow, so early?” Mia said disdainfully. “Aske, you’ve turned into an old man, sleeping so early!”

There was no way to respond to that. Since when did going to bed early have anything inherently to do with being an old man? You guys partying like crazy until midnight is the real abnormal behavior that’s wasting health!

“We can’t sleep tonight, so we thought we’d listen to Aske tell a story,” Miel whispered softly.

Aske: ?????

Inside the blanket, the girls were also speechless.

A story? What a la excuse! At least co up with a normal excuse like stargazing, how to beco stronger, or discussing life or sothing…

“Can’t you use the Manipulation Law to get rid of them…” Nora’s gaze shifted over Aske’s body, silently mouthing to dea across from her.

“No, Miel would notice,” dea was also troubled, feeling that ever since Miel had grasped the Fate Law, she seed to suddenly cheat life, becoming invincible against all odds.

For a mont, everyone was at a loss, only able to huddle under the blanket, anxiously pondering with breathing that felt intensely hot (mainly because it was stuffy).

“I want to hear a story.” Mia grabbed Aske’s hand that was sticking out of the blanket, shaking it as she started to act coy, “Co on, Squad Leader… huh?”

She realized Aske’s hand was heavier than expected and she couldn’t pull it. Eleanor quickly ducked her head inside and released Aske’s arm from under her neck.

“Cough, okay.” Aske couldn’t resist her and pulled his hand back under the blanket, “I’m really tired now, I’ll only tell part of it, and then you go back to sleep.”

“Okay!” Mia and Miel crisply agreed.

“Then I’ll continue with the Detective Conan series case story I was telling last ti.” Aske cleared his throat, about to start, but Mia complained, “Detective stories are boring! Every ti we have to rack our brains guessing who the murderer is, and we never guess it right, it’s so annoying!”

“So what do you want to hear?” Aske asked helplessly.

“The story about Wei Xiaobao that you didn’t finish last ti!” Mia imdiately said.

“Cough, what’s so interesting about Wei Xiaobao’s story,” Aske felt a bit guilty.

“Wei Xiaobao’s personality is a lot like mine,” Mia said.

“You also want to have a harem?” Miel was imdiately shocked.

“Not really, I ant his mind is as agile as mine,” Mia said inexplicably. “I like smart protagonists, not dumb ones, like the Heroic Legend of the Condor that Squad Leader ntioned last ti; I didn’t like it.”

Miel giggled beside her, while Mia urged the Squad Leader to continue. Aske helplessly said,

“Where did we leave off last ti? I can’t rember… Maybe we should switch to a different story.”

“Last ti, it was the thirty-ninth episode: ‘The master enjoys his affairs as if combing through them, the boy’s traces float and settle like duckweed,'” Miel reminded him.

Being able to recite the episode titles so accurately suggested not that Miel had a good mory, but that she had directly observed the previous tiline and read from there according to what Aske had said before.

Faced with such unreasonable cheating, Aske had no choice but to grit his teeth and start narrating briefly, hoping only to finish early and send these two little ancestors to their rooms so he could finally remove the blanket that had sealed him.

He quickly ntioned how Su Quan had led the people of Divine Dragon Island to Lichun Academy, disguising themselves as actors to capture Wei Xiaobao. Miel and Mia were both thrilled and restless until Aske ntioned that Wei Xiaobao cleverly saw through their disguise and used wine laced with sedatives to knock them out, which made the two girls gasp in relief and cheer for him to continue eagerly.

Aske steadied himself, about to continue, then it dawned on him:

According to the sequence in The Deer and the Cauldron, what ca next was Wei Xiaobao returning to the hall, finding Su Quan, Fang Yi, Mu Jianping, Shuang’er, Zeng Rou, and Achi all passed out, with Ake unconscious on the bed.

Then cos the part where Lord Wei is in bed, surrounded by beauty… On a normal day, he would have no qualms about this section (as it was written by Lord Jin, not his doing), and telling it to the two little girls wouldn’t be an issue. Even if other ladies heard about it, the worst they would do is joke about the Squad Leader harboring naughty intentions, always telling Mia and the others risqué tales.

But given his current predicant, seemingly alone in his blanket but practically sandwiched between soft, warm beauties, mirrored so closely to the scenes in The Deer and the Cauldron!

If he were to recite it as written, Peggy and dea might not mind, but Nora and Eleanor would probably be too embarrassed to listen, mistaking his narration for so suggestive “banned content,” and that would be difficult to explain afterward.

Seeing Aske stumbling, Mia urged him impatiently. After stamring for a while, he could only claim that he had “forgotten the rest.”

Mia wasn’t fooled easily and tugged at Miel’s arm. Miel then observed the future tiline and reminded him,

“The following plot should be, ‘Wei Xiaobao walked back and forth holding Achi, thinking on one hand that a friend’s wife must not be dishonored, but on the other hand, he thought of Tang Bohu who had nine wives, unwilling to be outdone, so after much hesitation, he still let Achi go.'”

“Who is Tang Bohu?” Mia wondered.

Hearing “Tang Bohu had nine wives,” Aske himself also felt greatly embarrassed and turned his head away, saying,

“You better tell this story, Miel. I really can’t rember it.”

“What story?” a voice ca from outside. “Aske, Peggy’s been gone for a long ti and hasn’t returned. Is she in your room?”

Everyone under the blanket was startled, and Miel had already stood up to open the door, welcoming Sigrdrifa and Thira inside.

“Peggy and dea have been gone for a long ti, and we ca to see if they were here…” Thira entered, glanced at Mia and Miel sitting by, then at Aske lying on the two-ter-wide bed, covered entirely under a tight and bulging blanket, as if there were seven or eight pillows hidden underneath, imdiately growing suspicious.

“We’ve been here listening to Squad Leader telling stories, haven’t seen them.” Mia said innocently.

“Is that so.” Sigrdrifa crossed her arms.

Thira didn’t take her seriously but silently turned to look at Miel.

Miel gave her a aningful look.

Then, Thira’s fingers twitched slightly, and the blanket suddenly lost all gravity, flying straight up.

Below, several girls snuggled up with Aske, as cosy as kittens.
