Chapter 596: Chapter 106: Caution as the Lord

Puppet Theater?

Nora’s mind inexplicably conjured an image:

A few little girl puppets were dancing rigidly, with strings stretching down from the sky and connecting to their arms. With a look of boredom, dea was propping up her cheek with her left hand, while her right hand was nonchalantly pulling the control board, manipulating them.

Yuck…

Nora felt sowhat uncomfortable for no apparent reason. If this were the real world and Aske were not with her, she would have run as far away as she could have by now.

However, this was only a script after all, and exploring the map was necessary, so she still allowed her Spiritual Body to attach itself to the gate, slowly opening a crack.

Then she swiftly slipped inside.

Huh?

It was actually empty inside.

Nora manipulated her Spiritual Body to look around, confirming that the entire hall was devoid of anything. She could only see on the left-hand side as she entered the room, that there was a rack that held paper docunts about the containnt object:

Intimidation Level: R3-Keter

Puppet Theater.

Note: This unit is normally invisible; please observe using the thod of “Data Erasure.”

The Puppet Theater originated from “Data Erasure” and was deliberately left behind by a Demigod who manipulates the Law. It’s currently uncertain whether this Demigod has perished.

This unit is invisible in its normal state and subtly influences nearby Life Bodies, Spiritual Bodies, and Mind Bodies, causing them to change direction towards a specific goal.

Since the unit has been contained, all changes in direction have served a purpose, which is to “escape containnt”…

It was at this point that Nora suddenly beca alard.

Coming to her senses, she had already lost control and sight of that Spiritual Body, returning to the room containing the Source Tree.

Nora: !!!

After holding her breath in the room for a long while, she finally sorted through what had just happened:

From the mont she opened the gate, the Puppet Theater was actually in the room, remaining invisible and unseen.

At the sa ti, it implanted the idea into Nora’s mind who was manipulating the Spiritual Body, making her think there was no containnt object there.

I should have realized that just because I couldn’t see anything, it didn’t an there was nothing in that hall… It wasn’t carelessness; I must have been manipulated!

Nora was very sure of this conclusion. Too cunning, the containnt object was too crafty.

The last and most crucial step was to entice the Spiritual Body to read the nearby docunts, thus secretly providing the ti to snatch control of the Spiritual Body.

Which ans, when Nora suddenly lost control of her Spiritual Body, it also ant the containnt of the Puppet Theater had completely failed—because after that, it would definitely seize the opportunity to manipulate the Spiritual Body to open the already unlocked gate and thus escape.

It would definitely be too late to go back now.

If this were reality and she had no companions by her side in such a situation, Nora might consider finding a place to hide and wait for Aske to co to her rescue.

However, considering this was a script and her brother was monitoring from the outside (not letting her die easily), Nora thought carefully for a few minutes and still decided to send out another Spiritual Body to scout ahead.

Nora summoned another spiritual body from nearby and cautiously sent it off.

The spiritual body slowly floated down the corridor, pausing to carefully survey its surroundings after drifting forward a certain distance.

Of course, such excessive caution was unnecessary. After turning a corner, she heard a loud explosion from up ahead.

Hiding behind the corner for over ten minutes and confirming there was no movent ahead, Nora then slowly maneuvered the spiritual body to float out.

She then saw a large hole in the middle of the passage with sothing indistinguishable lying in the center of the hole, seemingly completely shattered; the spiritual body could even feel extraordinary powers dissipating in the surroundings.

Handling the spiritual body with extre caution, she approached slowly and made sure the object wasn’t moving before she started examining the heap of debris at the bottom of the hole. It appeared to be so kind of tal construct, but it was so broken that it was impossible to imagine what its original shape had been.

All of a sudden, another loud noise startled Nora in the room; she shook all over and quickly made the spiritual body retreat, hiding again behind the corner.

Outside the screen, Valian was speechless as well.

He was certainly aware of his sister’s disposition. She was easily frightened by sudden scares, not just in horror gas, but even watching others play them. And this script was hardly different from a horror ga for her.

Bishop Aske erged from the monitoring room and ca up beside Valian, both speechless as they watched the screen.

After consecutive setbacks from the first two participants, this bishop had completely abandoned any idea of causing trouble—Nora was different from the other rcenaries; she was the true successor endorsed by the Holy Throne, and her script was specially designed.

If he caused any mischief, hindering Nora from experiencing the simulated script’s Sensing Law, and if the matter ca to light, he feared the Heretic Court would apprehend him and execute him directly with an aerial autocannon.

However, even without any external interference, Bishop Aske was still astounded to find that Nora’s script exploration progress was not just slow; it was painfully slow, almost dragging to the end of the universe.

From the beginning until now, she had only explored just two rooms and hadn’t encountered a single battle. Does she forget that this is just a simulated script? It’s a highly realistic fake environnt designed to help experinters feel and comprehend specific laws, it’s entirely different from reality!

Seeing that Nora’s controlled spiritual body was still hiding behind the corner, not showing any intention of coming out, Bishop Aske couldn’t restrain himself anymore and spoke:

“Your Excellency Valian, your sister… cough, is indeed very cautious, huh?”

He racked his brains but could not think of a better word and had to use “circumspectus” to implicitly hint.

“Yes, in such an environnt, she always observes the surroundings for a long ti before beginning to act,” Valian Bishop said with a wry smile.

Bishop Aske was slightly taken aback, then realized the double aning in the Valian Bishop’s words:

Cautious, circumspectus, where ‘circum-‘ ans “around,” and ‘-specere’ ans “to look,” so put together it is like “looking in all directions.”

Looking back at the monitor where Nora’s spiritual body was slowly floating up to the ceiling and cautiously “slithering” out around the corner, continually assessing what lay ahead, Bishop Aske suddenly felt that Nora captured the very essence of the word “circumspect.”

“How… How did she beco a Transcendent with such a temperant?” After pondering for a while, Bishop Aske couldn’t help but ask.

“Actually, we were quite surprised too, because she had never before expressed a desire to beco a Transcendent,” Valian said helplessly. “I’ll tell you, she took a cruise to Constantinople last year in protest because her parents didn’t take her on vacation with them, telling us she was just going to travel and relax.”

“This year she returned, and suddenly she’s a Level 10 Transcendent with Bloodline Completion.”

“Speaking of which, it’s partially because you, her brother, weren’t dutiful,” Bishop Aske teased. “Level 10 isn’t sothing that can be achieved overnight; haven’t you ever cared about your sister?”

“She’s usually closer to Kapaxilin, but after the first Magic Tide, she barely called ho,” Valian shrugged.

The two chatted for a bit more. Although they often disagreed politically, they were still cardinals of the sa echelon, and their personal relationships weren’t too bad. Since Bishop Aske didn’t intend to go against the Holy See’s command, Valian of course didn’t treat him coldly.

But as they talked longer, they gradually realized sothing was amiss.

Nora, the spiritual body you’re controlling, why is it still lingering next to the big hole, not continuing to explore forward?
