Chapter 472: Chapter 87 Sacrifice

The sky was overcast, and it seed like rain would soon fall.

Cries of agony, screams, and sobbing echoed above the entire camp.

Just a few minutes ago, a swarm of unmanned drones from the Church Court had once again attacked the Emperor’s Alliance’s camp.

Unlike the previous surprise shootings and targeted bombings, this ti the drones carried a large number of bombs. They approached from high altitude and rapidly dropped bombs while the Emperor was inspecting the camp and giving a speech. Even the demigods present didn’t have ti to react, only managing to ensure the Emperor’s safety first.

A large number of soldiers caught off-guard were swept up in the explosions. Those who died on the spot were the luckiest. More terrifying were the soldiers who were not sacrificed but suffered permanent, disabling injuries. They could only vainly clutch their severed limbs and cry out in pain and sorrow.

The military doctors were rushing around, but there were simply too many injured to save. As for the bodies of those who had already breathed their last, there was no one to collect them, allowing them to scatter haphazardly with blood everywhere.

By the platform where the Emperor had given his speech, the bodies of the Blade Warriors lay scattered in disarray. Eleanor’s second brother, Henry, leaned against the platform, his lower half completely blown away by the bomb, exposing a horrific internal injury.

Peggy was struggling to use her “Death Deprivation” power to sustain the remnants of life in this Frankish man. Nora was fully focused on stopping the bleeding from his upper half. Eleanor and the Duke of Bavaria stood behind, watching the scene with horror and despair.

However, what was truly fatal was not the blood loss, but the severely damaged organs.

Stomach, spleen, kidneys, even the heart… Everything below the lobes of the lungs in the chest had been destroyed by the blast. If not for the power of “Death Deprivation,” Henry would have already lost all signs of life.

“It’s no use!” Nora stopped her healing ability, “We must repair his missing body, otherwise, re hemostasis will not bring him back!”

But limb regeneration was an effect that only a Level IV “Life” ability could achieve. Nora’s ability was only at Level III.

“The Life School, that’s it! Find soone from the Life School!” Nora suddenly thought of sothing, frantically searching for her phone, then realized that her phone had been destroyed in the last Magic Tide.

“I can’t sustain my Law Ability for that long!” Peggy, still maintaining spirituality amidst the chaos, called out, “Unless I use my Flesh Power to save him! Hey, haven’t you taken any Magic Potion?”

“I have…” the dying Henry barely managed a smile, “Just last week, I took… the Justice X of Blade Warriors…”

“Ah.” Peggy was at a loss for words. The Justice Sequence and the Flesh Sequence were absolutely incompatible; attempting to turn him into a Vampire would likely cause him to imdiately lose control.

Was there really no way to save him? Eleanor tightly grasped her father’s hand, her anxious and pained expression spilling over.

The girls of The Azure Longsword gathered around, wracking their brains, but were at a loss.

Soon, the Emperor and other family demigods also arrived.

After all, as the second son of the Duke of Bavaria, he was certainly a priority for rescue. But even the demigods could not think of any effective solutions in the face of this situation.

“Isn’t your Bloodline from the Blood Clan?” Wilderness Bear Mason spoke up, asking Peggy, “Can you absorb my Life Force, then transfer it to Viscount Regens, and save him?”

“No,” Nora shook her head and denied, “Life Force can heal wounds, but it can’t regenerate organs! Now he has lost even his heart!”

Without a heart to maintain blood circulation, the loss of Life Force every second was astounding. Even having a demigod as his Life Force battery and Peggy as the conduit for transferring Life Force could not compensate for the loss of Life Force in this body.

But to regenerate the heart, only a few specific Sequences’ abilities or a heart transplant surgery could achieve that. Not to ntion that there was no Transcendent in the army to match the requirents, even if there was a healthy heart available, Peggy’s “Death Deprivation” Law Ability would not be sufficient to maintain the transplant surgery for the required ti.

Now, it seed to be a dead end.

“Your Majesty…” Henry turned his gaze weakly, and Emperor Otto stepped forward imdiately with a solemn expression.

When the swarm of drones targeted him with bombs, it was Henry, his personal guard, who first spotted the attack coming from above, and pushed him away in ti.

“I have finally… fulfilled… my duty…” Henry breathed slowly, his lips turning white, “Your Majesty…”

“Yes, Viscount Henry. As a Blade Warrior, you have fulfilled the oath you took,” the Emperor gently took his hand, “I, Otto, Emperor of the Holy Solomon Empire, proclaim that your loyalty to the Empire and the Emperor is beyond doubt.”

“That’s good…” Henry seed to want to show a smile. However, under the severe pain, his blood-stained face appeared more like a cry than a smile. Behind him, Eleanor covered her face in grief, with a lump forming in her throat.

“Father…”

“Henry.” The Duke of Bavaria approached with a pale face, knowing he had to face the death of his youngest son.

“I… have not… disgraced the Weisbach family…” His breathing beca rapid, speaking in broken sentences, “I defended the family’s… honor.”

“Yes, you have defended the family’s honor.” The Duke’s voice was choked with emotion, and he forcefully suppressed the sorrow in his heart, his voice trembling, “Rest for a while, Henry…”

“I still have… sothing to say…” Henry turned his neck with difficulty, casting his final gaze toward Eleanor, “Sister…”

“Brother.” Eleanor spoke in a voice filled with sorrow.

“I’m sorry.” Henry’s voice grew weaker as he spoke, his breath like a flickering candle in the wind, “I’m sorry for John’s death…”

“No, I don’t bla you!” Eleanor knelt beside him, taking hold of his other hand, “I have not blad you for a long ti…”

“That’s good…” Henry’s mouth moved, “I really want… a drink…”

“I have so here.” War God Leopold ca forward from the back, “Bavarian beer, might be a bit inferior.”

Henry’s gaze fixed on the bottle, the intent clear without words. Leopold approached, severed the top of the bottle with one hand, and carefully poured the beer into his lips.

He sipped in satisfaction, yet as the beer passed through his throat, it mixed with blood from the opening in his esophagus and flowed out.

“Ah…” At last, Henry closed his mouth, his eyes rolling upward, looking toward the gloomy sky.

“Hallelujah…” He uttered “Praise to God” with the last of his strength, then his head tilted and fell.

He was gone.

Peggy stood up with a pained expression on her face, her spirituality all but depleted, forced to cease her “Death Deprivation” ability.

But no one would bla her anyway.

The news of the death of the Duke of Bavaria’s second son spread among the noble families of the Empire with the demigods, causing increased apprehension about the outco of the war.

Seemingly to compensate for the low morale, the Emperor held a grand funeral for Henry that very day in the na of the Blade Warrior, attempting to stir the hearts of the mourning soldiers; on the other hand, based on the clues gathered by the Blade Warrior’s investigations, dozens of insurrections hidden within the military were crushed.

For a ti, the order within the Emperor’s Alliance improved significantly.

The Duke of Bavaria took ill upon returning to camp. No one blad the Duke grieving for his beloved son, while his knights and troops were temporarily led by the Weisbach Family’s demigod, Sealing Furnace Fire.

As for Eleanor…

“Aske,” Nora, having returned to Fire Island, imdiately sought out Aske again.

“Eleanor didn’t co back with you?” Aske noticed she had co back alone, “Where is she now?”

“She’s still at the place where her brother died; I simply couldn’t persuade her.” Nora said worriedly, her face clouded with anxiety, “What should we do?”

“She’s been standing there for six hours.”
