283: Chapter 81: The Swarm of Rats 283: Chapter 81: The Swarm of Rats “Black Death.”

Aske’s words were powerful, and the girls all held their breaths.

“Is it contagious?” Sigrdrifa asked blankly.

“So sort of acute infectious disease, quite terrifying,” Nora said solemnly.

“Tily antibiotic intervention can save lives, but…”

She took a deep breath.

“The Bavarian Duchy, having temporarily severed relations with the Church Court, likely doesn’t have enough dicine in stock.”

“What kind of dicine is needed?” Eleanor asked anxiously.

“Streptomycin and tetracycline, can your family’s factory produce these antibiotics?” Nora inquired.

Eleanor shook her head blankly, knowing only of penicillin and aspirin.

“Hey, hey, now is not the ti to worry about others,” dea reminded helplessly.

“We are still surrounded by a swarm of rats.”

Before she finished speaking, screams suddenly ca from outside.

The girls of The Azure Longsword imdiately rushed out of the tent and saw the Weisbach guards gathered in formation as if facing a significant threat, having been summoned early to the central tent where Aske was, and thus had suffered few casualties.

At the edge of the camp, the servants of the Wolf Family were almost instantly overwheld by the rats flooding in from outside.

They scread in horror, waving everything they could grab and slapping the rats climbing swiftly up their pant legs.

In just a few seconds, they collapsed to the ground as if paralyzed, their faces turning blue with purplish lips, clearly poisoned by so virulent toxin…

The swarm of rats didn’t give them a chance, quickly covering them like a wave, leaving nothing behind but gnawed clean bones after a few minutes.

“Illusion Sword, pull out trenches on the ground, radius of ten ters, pour in the kerosene!” Seeing the rats swarm toward the center of the camp, Aske quickly ordered.

Before he finished speaking, Peggy’s Undead Illusion Sword was activated; several “Peggys” plunged forward, the left hand holding a short sword dragging trenches in the ground, the right hand holding a can of kerosene, quickly pouring it into the trenches.

Since multiple illusions were acting together, nurous curved trenches soon ford a complete ring, enclosing the people of The Azure Longsword and the Weisbach guards in the center.

Without waiting for Aske’s command, dea had already shot out a fireball, imdiately igniting the kerosene-filled trenches to form a nearly half-ter high fiery wall.

The rat swarm stopped before the wall of fire, out of the animals’ instinctive fear of flas.

They squeaked sharply, standing upright, frantically shaking their heads, or biting their tails and running in circles on the ground as if resisting a voice in their heads.

Soon, as if driven by so invisible force, the rats desperately rushed into the wall of fire.

“Gravity circle radiation, prepare,” Aske commanded next, “Spirituality support!”

Thira took a deep breath, the gravitational ripples of “teor II” surged, causing her delicate robe to flutter.

Nora stood behind her, hand on her back, “Spirit Body I” ability was also ready—ready to infuse her own spirituality into Thira’s body to replenish the spirituality consud by her ability.

Just like what Thira’s grandfather had once done, turning into a rciless replenishing machine.

Swoosh, Swoosh, Swoosh!

It sounded like the wind tearing through, or as if it was the gasp of acute pain.

Countless flaming mice figures dashed through the Fire Wall, instantly charging halfway across the distance.

“Release!”

Thira clenched her fist hard; the Gravity Field centered around her suddenly exploded.

The nurous ground-running flaming mice imdiately could not grip the ground and were flipped out by the suddenly horizontal gravity, passing through the Fire Wall again.

The mice, already driven mad by the burning, suffered secondary damages within the Fire Wall and then smashed into the extensive outside crowd, causing an instant collapse of their instincts—even those contaminated with toxin and Plague, after all, were just mice.

They no longer heeded the mad voices in their heads but rolled and ran wildly on the ground, attempting to rub off the burning kerosene on their fur.

The result was igniting more of their peers.

Another large wave of desperate mice rushed into the Fire Wall, Thira had already readied the Gravity Field again and imdiately unleashed it.

The burning mice were flung backward again when Aske suddenly alerted:

“Watch out for underground!”

Even before the other girls had reacted, Sigrdrifa had summoned the imnse force of “Giant,” and, with the augntation of the Power Armor, she struck the ground hard.

The girls standing on the surface only felt the ground shake violently beneath them, nearly losing their balance.

Beneath the ground, a large number of mice digging forward in a tunnel had it instantly collapse due to the huge vibration.

So mice were almost instantaneously buried alive by the heavy layers of soil, and many others, due to the ventilation passage being sealed off by the collapse, continued to dig for a distance in an increasingly oxygen-depleted environnt until they suffocated to death.

“Fire Wall!” Nora suddenly shrieked.

It turned out that a section of the encircling trench Fire Wall had collapsed and clogged due to the earthquake.

And with the trench’s kerosene supply cut off, the flas above gradually diminished.

Another figure surged out, but it was Mia, who had initiated Ilanian Instant Step.

Holding a Short Sword, she rushed to the edge of the Fire Wall and savagely slashed at a nearby trench, slicing open the blocked channel.

As if preditated, at the sa mont she swung her Short Sword at the ground, a vast swarm of mice fearlessly charged through the shortened Fire Wall, flying crazily toward Mia.

Mia abruptly halted in the middle of Instant Step, swung out her Short Sword, then suddenly changed direction and darted backward, throwing two small kerosene-filled vials forward with her left hand.

The first vial landed at the freshly opened trench, heated by the still-burning flas, and the kerosene inside instantly exploded, the broken pottery shards scattering the intruding mice.

The second vial flew into the airborne swarm of mice as a bullet hit it precisely, functioning like a thrown Molotov cocktail, imdiately setting ablaze and blowing up all the surrounding mice.

Mia, still retreating crazily through Instant Step, while Miel knelt on one knee, continuously pulling the trigger toward the ground behind her.

Even the tiny mice, under her “Visual” Ability, were nowhere to hide and were swiftly dispatched by the bullets.

Finally retreating back into the group, Mia breathed heavily, hands on her knees, as Nora quickly ca up to her, asking if any mice had bitten her.

“No,” Mia shook her head, “But I saw outside the Fire Wall, there are no more standing people.”

The group fell silent.

Outside, under such a massive scale of a mouse swarm, most people couldn’t have survived, could they?

“Wait, Aske, look!” Peggy suddenly exclaid.

The group hastily followed her pointing, only to see the Fire Wall ten ters away beginning to sway.
