Liam had not seen Jennie fight before today. He had yet to see her Soultrait as well.
Thus, he was not really astonished to see her struggle to survive against the horde of Lesser Demons. There were close to a hundred of them and Jennie had only survived until now because she was giving her utmost to block off the narrow gap connecting the hallway with the main hall of the first basent.
Liam chose to eliminate the Lesser Demons in the hallway next to the two hallways he had just cleared first. Jennie was to his right and Ludwig was to his left.
Yet, oddly enough, Ludwig was faring decently. No Ordinary Shedim was able to get too close to him, and even the Elite Shedim seed to be having problems facing the skinny student. That was quite a surprise and even made Liam feel a bit proud of his observation skills.
Ludwig was constantly using Arcane Power which he circulated through his body to reinforce his physical strength and senses to a certain extent. At the sa ti, he also injected a large amount of Arcane Power inside his Black Steel Weapon, sharpening it enough to cut through the claws of the Ordinary Shedim and to carve deep gashes in the claws of the Elite Shedims upon clashing.
'Is his Arcane Power at S, or what?!' Liam thought to himself, his eyes trained on Ludwig who continued to hack and slash with his weapon. Liam was pretty sure that he wouldn't be able to waste so much Arcane Power even though he was half Devil with an extrely large storage capacity of Arcane Power.
He shook his head after a mont and let Ludwig be. The skinny student could fend for himself, which was a good sign.
As for Jennie, she was still struggling and a Mutant Elite Shedim was about to reach her through the masses of Ordinary Shedims that blocked its path when a cold voice rang in her ears.
"Close your eyes!"
Despite being eerily cold, the voice felt warm to Jennie who shut her eyes tightly, placing complete trust in the owner of the voice.
A cold gust shot past her while a dazzling light erupted above her. The pained squeals of the Lesser Demons who were about to tear her to pieces rang through her ear, just to be overpowered by the slow and calm steps that approached her from behind.
Several more gusts brushed past her face but she didn't dare to open her eyes. Only when the Lesser Demons in front of her seed to have turned silent all of a sudden did she dare to open them once again.
What she saw in front of her was a literal massacre. Only five Ordinary Shedim were left alive. They had been pushed against the wall of the other side of the hallway and Jennie was staring right at them.
"If you cannot even kill those five, you might as well die right here," Liam said as he retracted the Arcane Kunai from the body of the last Elite Shedim he had killed.
Now that he was done taking care of the most problematic hallway, Liam could divert his focus to the other hallways. They had to be cleared quickly in order to finish the conquest of the underground tower sooner.
Ludwig was doing better than Rex, who was struggling with his Soultrait. The lethality of Rex's Soultrait was extrely high but it was not easy for him to control the bolts of lightning. Materializing sothing out of nowhere was much harder than altering sothing, which already exists inside the body, with the use of Arcane Power. Thus, it grew increasingly difficult for Rex to keep his focus on fighting the Lesser Demons in front of him when he was actually making big blunders with his Soultrait.
Rex was the only one in possession of this kind of Soultrait, a trait that granted him the ability to materialize sothing with the use of Arcane Power and to use it as a ans to amplify his attacks, or turn it into an attack itself!
Rex's Soultrait was a mixture of two types. It was an Elental Creation Soultrait, and an Attack-type Soultrait. Both were usually hard to control and learn. However, once one learned to control such a Soultrait, the wielder's combat prowess would skyrocket.
However, for now, Rex was struggling. He wouldn't die anyti soon but Liam wanted to give the student so pressure by shooting the Arcane Kunai and his Black Tarthear Needles past his head. Both The Arcane Kunai and Black Tarthear Needles found their designated targets, killing one of the Mutant Elite Shedims before the Arcane Kunai cleanly sliced through the Shedim's flesh, piercing the skulls of a few more Ordinary Shedim before it returned to Liam.
In the following minute, Liam killed a few more dozen Shedim before he walked over to Kian who was also struggling quite a bit.
He could move fast thanks to his high stats and the agility-enhancing Soultrait but it was hardly possible for Kian to endure the stress that ca from the pressure of fighting more than five opponents at the sa ti. Kian's mind led to the biggest problem as he was trying to fight in the most efficient way, just to end up overestimating himself and underestimating his opponents.
He had seen how easily Liam killed the Lesser Demons, which seed to be more than enough reason for Kian to sohow believe that he was capable of the sa.
Kian wanted to show Liam that he was powerful and that it was worth investing his ti in teaching him. He was not okay with Liam's blunt refusal to teach them anything and ignored that Liam was simply not cut out to be an Instructor.
Liam killed the Elite Shedim and the Mutant Elite Shedim in Kian's hallway before he turned to the three students whom Liam had yet to offer a helping hand.
Ludwig was still doing fine, which was still a surprise and the two other girls were not doing badly either. Olivia was about to finish up clearing her hallways and only Felicia seed to need a little help. She was doing her best, fighting ferociously like a Tigress, though a tigress that was desperately trying to survive rather than one that instilled fear in the hearts of her prey.
Liam killed the Mutant Elite Shedims and the Elite Shedim before leaving Felicia with the remaining Ordinary Shedim.
On the other hand, Liam started the cleansing job, putting all corpses up for sale in his small but lovely shop!
