Nathan was in his office. After what had happened the previous night, he didn’t want to wake up to seeing Katherine’s face early in the morning.

Thankfully, she had slept in the guest room, which made it easier for him to leave the house with his mission complete.

However, now that he was in his office, her scandals seed to follow him everywhere.

His secretary had inford him about what had been happening, and he had to turn on his phone to check the news.

It turned out Katherine was the mastermind behind Eva’s disappearance and, worse, Alisha was Eva the entire ti.

His head was spinning, trying to understand where he had gone wrong in his life. Was it when he t Katherine and fell in love with her? Was it when he cheated on Eva with Katherine? Or was it when he married Katherine?

All these questions involved Katherine, so he concluded that Katherine had been the problem the entire ti, and he had just been trying to endure her.

The number of problems she had caused him was becoming uncountable, and every day, the scandals were undeniable.

Nathan pulled his hair in frustration as he tried to grasp the words written in the docunt he was studying. This was not easy, as his mind still drifted to where Katherine was.

The child in her belly could still be his, and because of that, he couldn’t abandon her yet.

There was a sudden knock on his door.

"Mr. Cross, an ergency board eting has just been scheduled at the last minute, and the board mbers are on their way," his secretary inford him.

Nathan’s fists tightened.

He knew why they had scheduled an ergency board eting. It was the sa thing they had done the last ti Katherine’s scandal shook the internet. And now, they were going to rain more questions on him, demanding his forthcoming actions.

"I’ll be there soon," he said.

The secretary gave a curt nod before closing the door.

"This is not good."

It had not even been three years since his father left him in charge of this company, and so many things were happening. Worse, they all stemd from his so-called wife.

Nathan left his office and arrived at the boardroom, where so of the people had already gathered.

They were whispering and murmuring to each other, glancing at him from ti to ti, but they tried to keep it as respectful as possible by not saying anything inappropriate.

Twenty minutes later, all the board mbers had arrived.

"I don’t think I need to say the reason why we’ve called for this eting," said a man whose face showed displeasure, his expression weary. "Your wife has just been accused of killing soone. What are you going to do about that, Nathan?" he questioned.

"This isn’t the first ti your wife has been caught in a scandal. And worse, she’s being accused of killing your first wife, Eva. I thought you said Eva went missing?" A woman spoke this ti, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

They knew about Eva, and the whole ti she had been married to Nathan, there was no such thing as a scandal in her dictionary.

"According to what I heard, Katherine is the one who killed Eva. At the mont, she’s at the police station," said another man.

Nathan stood up from his seat, instantly on alert.

"Katherine is in jail?"

"You don’t even know about it?" The man who had spoken earlier scoffed.

"Because of this, this company is going to suffer a blow. So what are you going to do about it? Eva’s fans are not taking things lightly at all. They’re currently creating havoc everywhere, and before you know it, they’ll co to this building and demand answers. And then what? What are you going to say to them?" Thewoman from earlier asked.

They had invested huge amounts of money into the company and would not want it to burn to ashes so soon.

"I’ll think of what to do. Anything at all. Give a week," Nathan pleaded.

His father had not called him yet for an unknown reason, and he was sowhat glad about it. He could use the opportunity to think of an explanation.

"Alright, one week, and that’s it. If you’re unable to think of ways to push this company back to the top where it was before, then we’ll have to make a vote," the first man spoke.

Nathan frowned deeply at this. "A vote about what?" he asked in confusion.

The man glanced at the other mbers, who gave him a curt nod.

"We’ll have to vote for a new CEO. We’ve already discussed this with your father, and he has already agreed. But judging from your reaction, he didn’t tell you anything," said the man.

Nathan didn’t say anything more.

He simply stord out of the eting room while placing a call.

His father didn’t pick up, which was unusual. The old man always picked up on the first ring.

Nathan didn’t feel right about this.

He decided to call his father later. For now, he needed to go to the police station to check on Katherine.

At the police station, Katherine stared at the commissioner as if he had gone crazy to make such a verdict so soon.

She would have to go to jail and stay there, possibly for the rest of her life, with no bail?

"I won’t let that happen. I want to make a phone call to my husband. He’s going to bail out. I can’t stay in jail. I’m pregnant," she announced, tears already welling in her eyes.

Going to jail was not on her list of things to do at all.

What about Jacob? Was he going to start visiting her in prison from now on?

Thankfully, Mason had partly recovered and was discharged from the hospital. But she didn’t want to leave her family behind.

Mason and Jacob, her son—she didn’t want him to see her like this.

"Alisha, Eva..." Katherine called while Alisha tilted her head to look at her. "Please, don’t do this."
