Iris’s POV

Trying to push the thoughts off my head, I decided to leave my room to head to Alia’s room. I hadn’t seen her since I returned into my room as I wondered if she was busy. I was walking through the quiet corridors as I got to the corner, about to turn left to head to Alia’s room but suddenly, a force cornered , and my back slamd against the cold, rough wall of the corridor. It was Zane.

My eyes, against my will, were drawn to Zane, as they always seed to be. He stood with that familiar, almost languid confidence right in front of with a predatory gleam in his eyes. It was a look that always seed to say he knew sothing you didn’t, and whatever it was, it was probably to your detrint.

He’s wearing a black leather jacket, the kind that looked expensive and by the looks, they were expensive and black leather jacket was always his favorite. It hung open, revealing a glimpse of his bare chest, a small detail that sohow made him seem even more dangerous, more untad. Around his neck, was a simple, dark necklace with a single, unadorned pendant rested against his skin as usual, he never takes it off, a subtle piece that only added to his enigmatic aura. Though it wasn’t flashy.

His dark short hair, frad the side of his face which made him undeniably handso, almost achingly so, but it was a beauty that held a chilling edge. Those sharp cheekbones, the defined jawline and his pink soft lips. Though I didn’t know how soft they felt. I had never kissed them. Then the eyes, though, were what truly held . They were dark and emotionlessly dark, fathomless pools that seed to absorb all light and emotion, leaving behind only a cold, calculating intensity.

His eyes, as always, were devoid of emotion, and his cold glare alone was enough to send a shiver down my spine, making the hairs on my skin prickle with an unsettling awareness.

Just then, he broke the silence.

"You’ve beco so brave," he began, his voice a low, dangerous growl that vibrated through my very bones as he closed the space between us while I attempted to take a step back but to my disappointnt, I rembered my back was against the wall and there was no way out.

"Committing cris and letting soone else get punished for it." He added.

I remained silent, my breath hitched in my throat. His body leaned even further, a nacing proximity that stole the air from my lungs. He was so close I could almost feel the frantic, erratic drum of my own heart against my ribs. In that mont, a desperate plea for Lyra to intervene flashed through my mind, but she remained silent.

Then, his words beca a low slur and husky that was barely audible, yet intensely felt through . His breath, warm as I felt it over the sensitive skin between my ear and neck, and an unexpected, almost bewildering, reaction rippled through my body. Causing a strange feelings happening to my body.

This feeling. I knew it and I understood it too. In my past life, I had read countless R18 novels, those explicit scenes making my body respond in precisely this manner, especially when written from the female lead’s perspective. The way those descriptions would stir sothing deep within and now it was happening to again. Zane’s breath was doing it to right now. My legs felt like they’d turned to jelly, my brain a numb haze, completely forgetting the basic instinct to push him away. Do you know that feeling? That profound disconnect where your body seems to act independently of your mind’s intentions when you see a dude you like getting this close to you? Yes! That exact, perplexing sensation.

Suddenly, his emotionless voice sliced through the fog of my dazed state, jolting back to the harsh reality of the present. "Afraid?" he sneered, curving out a short emotionless smirk.

I blinked, my eyes wide and unfocused, fumbling for words that couldn’t leave my lips.

Then he moved his face slightly away from mine, his hand, surprisingly gentle and possessive as it began to trace a single strand of hair near covering one side of my face. His cold eyes remained locked onto mine with an unsettling intensity. "You stink." His words numbed and then he continued. "I never knew you could be this scared too." Another cold fleeting short smile, devoid of any genuineness, flashed his lips for a brief mont before his face reverted to its usual, impassive coldness. I swallowed hard as shivers trailed down my spine.

Then, he moved back, just an inch, his hands sliding casually into his pockets, not once breaking our unwavering eye contact.

"If my father won’t punish you for your cris, I will," he stated, even monotone that held more threat than any shout could convey. "I could spare you, you know?" A cruel smirk played on his lips, a twist that made my stomach clench with a mixture of disgust and a strange fascination. "But you must earn it. I want you to eat from the trash in the presence of all the ogas of Blackbane imdiately I ask you to do so.

Do that to prove your love for and I’ll consider whether to love you."

For so inexplicable reason, as his cruel words continued to tumble from his mouth, my gaze beca utterly fixated on the perfect contours of his face. His lips, soft and invitingly pink, seed almost out of place. His long, dark lashes, thick and alluring, fanned out over his eyes despite their cold, emotionless depths and they held a captivating and dangerous allure. His skin was flawless, unblemished and it seed to defy the harsh reality of his nature.

Everything about him, from his sharply sculpted cheekbones to the arrogant cute curve of his brow, scread an almost divine artistry, a perfection that was both breathtaking and terrifying. My eyes drifted to his down part as it landed on his black jeans that hugged his long, lean legs, and dark sneakers that completed the effortlessness of his swag.
