Shen Yubai had just returned ho when Sang nglan was watching TV in the living room.

Upon hearing so noise, she turned her head towards him, "You’re back—"

Before she could finish her sentence, Sang nglan first noticed the small toy in his hand, which was extrely inconsistent with his image. She raised her eyebrows slightly, with a bit of disbelief, "What is this?"

Shen Yubai looked up: "Isn’t it obvious?"

Sang nglan: "I an, why would you buy sothing like this."

"It wasn’t bought." Shen Yubai said, "Soone gave it to ."

He had a slight smile on his face as he said this.

Sang nglan paused slightly, thinking about the series of events he had been involved in recently, and guessed, "A girl gave it to you?"

Shen Yubai humd affirmatively, then sat down beside her, "Is it cute?"

"..." Sang nglan looked down at the ugly toy and said against her will, "It’s quite cute."

She was quiet for a few seconds, then curiously asked, "Is it your classmate who runs a restaurant?"

Shen Yubai tilted his head, "Mom."

Sang nglan playfully responded, "Mom was just asking casually, not planning to do anything."

She gave him a side glance, "You don’t think your mom would act like those evil won on TV, knowing who it is, and then warning her to stay away from my son, do you?"

Hearing this, Shen Yubai touched his nose and awkwardly said, "That’s not what I ant."

Sang nglan huffed, not very interested in entertaining him.

After a mont of silence, Sang nglan suddenly beca curious, "I am actually a bit curious about what kind of girl she is."

Shen Yubai paused, then quietly said, "I don’t know how to describe her."

"Is she beautiful?" Sang nglan asked.

Shen Yubai nodded, "Beautiful."

"Do you have a picture?" Sang nglan asked, "Would it be okay for your mom to have a look?"

Shen Yubai hesitated.

Sang nglan quickly raised her hand to swear, "I promise I won’t bother her. You guys are still high school students, what can I possibly do?"

She believed that Shen Yubai wouldn’t do anything either.

After a few seconds of thought, Shen Yubai got up to get his cara.

During their ti in Pingning, Shen Yubai had brought the cara along. It was the sa cara he wanted to give to Xu Chuning, but she had rejected.

A bunch of them had taken quite a few photos during their ti in Pingning.

Among them were quite a few solo shots of Xu Chuning that she herself didn’t even know existed; Shen Yubai had taken them surreptitiously, without telling her.

He handed the cara to Sang nglan, who started looking from the beginning.

The first photo was a side profile of Xu Chuning, upon seeing the side profile, Sang nglan subconsciously said, "This profile... looks a bit familiar."

Shen Yubai paused, looked at her, "Familiar how?"

Sang nglan shook her head: "I can’t quite place it at the mont."

Shen Yubai: "..."

As Sang nglan continued looking further, flipping through, when she ca across a front face photo of Xu Chuning that Shen Yubai had secretly taken, Sang nglan furrowed her brows and said, "This girl, why does she look so much like your Aunt Ye when she was young?"

"?"

After clearly hearing what Sang nglan said, Shen Yubai suddenly stood up from the sofa, "Mom."

Sang nglan: "What?"

She was a bit startled by Shen Yubai.

Shen Yubai looked intently at her, his expression serious, "What did you just say?"

Sang nglan: "Ah?"

"You just repeated what you said," Shen Yubai pressed, "Say it again."

Sang nglan paused, opened her mouth, and repeated exactly what she had just said. After she finished, she observed Shen Yubai’s expression, "What’s wrong with you?"

Shen Yubai did not respond.

Following his gaze, Sang nglan glanced again at the girl in the cara and said with a laugh, "Did I scare you by saying she looks like your Aunt Ye when she was young?"

She didn’t think too deeply and said lightly, "There are actually quite a few people in this world who resemble each other; I just didn’t expect your classmate—"

Before she could finish her sentence, Shen Yubai interrupted, "Mom."

Shen Yubai looked down at Sang nglan: "I want to ask you a question."

Sang nglan: "Go ahead."

Shen Yubai: "Would you feel a sense of resistance towards an elder you don’t know on the first or second eting? It ans disliking them, avoiding them."

"..." Sang nglan was a bit confused, "Did this person offend ?"

"You don’t know them," Shen Yubai emphasized.

Sang nglan frowned, "Then why would I dislike them? If I don’t know them, I naturally treat them as strangers."

I wouldn’t look more or talk more to them.

Shen Yubai was stunned; indeed, he always felt that Xu Chuning’s attitude when she saw Xu Yiming, especially when Xu Yiming actively spoke to her, was very different from usual.

Previously, Shen Yubai wondered if there was an unknown conflict between Xu Chuning and Xu Yiming; otherwise, her attitude when seeing Xu Yiming shouldn’t have been like that.

Coupled with Shen Sinian’s dislike for Xu Zhiyan, Shen Yubai analyzed carefully but never thought in this direction.

Until now, it dawned on him what might be the reason behind all these incidents, like Xu Chuning being awkward and Shen Sinian targeting Xu Zhiyan.

If he wasn’t mistaken, Xu Chuning must have long known about her relationship with Xu Yiming.

"Yubai." Sang nglan observed the complex look on Shen Yubai’s face and furrowed her brow, "What are you thinking about?"

Shen Yubai looked up, his gaze clear as he looked at her, "Mom, do you think Xu Zhiyan resembles Uncle Xu and Aunt Ye?"

Sang nglan was stunned, her eyes widened as she asked him, "What does that an?"

After she asked, she looked down at the girl in the cara, "You can’t an—" She didn’t finish her sentence, instead saying incredulously, "How is that possible?"

Shen Yubai was calr than Sang nglan, "What if it is?"

He pointed to Xu Chuning in the cara, asking Sang nglan, "Didn’t you yourself say she resembles Aunt Ye when she was young?"

Sang nglan was speechless, "But there are many people in this world who look alike."

"But so far, we only encountered this one," Shen Yubai reminded.

Suddenly, he rembered the photo he saw in Pingning.

Xu Chuning was thin and pale when she was young. He was puzzled at the ti but didn’t ask more because Xu Chuning called him away.

Was she afraid that he would discover the truth?

With that thought, Shen Yubai turned to Sang nglan, "Mom, stay here. I’m going to make a call to Shen Sinian."

Sang nglan uttered an "Ah," not getting the chance to ask what he was going to discuss with Shen Sinian before Shen Yubai had already strode upstairs.

When Shen Yubai called, Shen Sinian had just finished a scene and was resting, waiting for the next.

The assistant, holding his phone, said, "Sinian, Shen Yubai is calling you."

Shen Sinian had told the assistant that he must be inford about calls from a few specific nas including Xu Chuning and You Shuzhen, unless he was filming.

Consequently, he quickly answered: "Hello."

Shen Sinian, surprised, "Why are you calling today? It isn’t Ningning in trouble, right?"

Generally, Shen Yubai wouldn’t call him.

Standing on the room’s balcony, Shen Yubai suppressed the turmoil inside and asked in a deep voice, "I want to ask you, does Xu Chuning have no blood relation with Aunt You?"

"..."
