Capítulo 1930: Chapter 1827: Not United_5

“Mr. Zhang, let’s talk over here.” Secretary Xu realized that Song Xiaodong was here to cause trouble and quickly pulled Mr. Zhang aside.

Song Xiaodong shot Zhang Dongfang a glance, and Zhang Dongfang huffed coldly as they each walked in opposite directions.

“Hey, what are you doing? Didn’t you hear? That’s Mayor Han’s VIP… oh… I understand now.” Chu Xianling was sharp as ice.

“What’s everyone around him for? Who is this guy?” Chu Xianling asked.

“Overseas Chinese, rich you know, here to invest. To get Deputy Mayor Han to personally show up, seems like a big deal.”

“You better not ruin this. If he really invests, who knows how many jobs and economic benefits he might bring to Minghe.”

“Relax, I’m just making a show for our Deputy Mayor Han. If I really chased him away, I’d be in trouble, too.”

“Hey, aren’t you here to pick sothing out? See if there’s anything you like.” Song Xiaodong said to Chu Xianling.

The entrepreneurs following Song Xiaodong also wanted to chat, but Song Xiaodong said to them, “Go on then, I just said I’m here to accompany my wife, not to talk business. If you want to talk business, go to the Overseas Chinese.”

Song Xiaodong waved his hand, and the group of people returned to the Overseas Chinese.

The Overseas Chinese saw the group co back and deliberately asked, “What are you all coming back for? Go keep company with that impolite person!”

“Oh Mr. Zhang, please don’t, that person is one of the local influential figures here. We small businessn have to show him respect, that’s why we were being polite.”

“Hmph, most of us people from Minghe are quite good, but there are always a few who bully new people and look down on outsiders, especially soone like , an overseas Chinese. I’ve developed abroad for many years, thinking that I’m not young anymore and have so ability. I want to do sothing for the country, invest so money in light industries. Minghe, too, is my hotown, but there are always people like this, who are ungrateful, making us overseas Chinese heartbroken!”

“Yes, yes, yes, Mr. Zhang, you don’t need to take such people to heart. You are our honored guest in Minghe, a child of Minghe, a wanderer returning ho. All of Minghe feels incredibly honored with your return.” Secretary Xu’s flattery made Zhang Dongfang a bit elated. He glanced at Song Xiaodong in the distance before proudly walking into the venue.

“Everyone, please pay attention.” Secretary Xu, who was leading the way in front of Zhang Dongfang, clapped his hands as he reached the center of a venue, trying to gather all the big and small entrepreneurs around.

Everyone present recognized the newly arrived Secretary Xu. Since Deputy Mayor Han took office, communication with entrepreneurs had been managed by Secretary Xu. Seeing Secretary Xu, everyone knew that the VIP guest of Deputy Mayor Han had arrived.

“On behalf of our Deputy Mayor Han, I solemnly introduce to the present entrepreneurs, this is Mr. Zhang Dongfang, an overseas entrepreneur who cos from our Minghe. Everyone, a round of applause, please!”

A group of people imdiately applauded for Zhang Dongfang.

“Please, let’s have Zhang Dongfang say a few words.” Secretary Xu handed Zhang Dongfang a microphone.

Looking at the applauding crowd gathering around him, Zhang Dongfang very happily accepted the microphone.

“Hello everyone, I’m Zhang Dongfang. At the invitation of our Deputy Mayor Han, I’m here to participate in Minghe’s Porcelain Art Exchange Conference. You all know that our country is called the Porcelain Country overseas. Many exquisite porcelains are treated as treasures by so Western countries and are stored permanently in their museums.”

“However, the porcelain industry in our country is now developing slowly. Many items like these tiles, even though dostically produced, have to go through tariffs abroad before coming back, and then they get labeled as made in Italy or France to be sold. Isn’t that absurd?”

“Therefore, I decided to support Minghe’s porcelain industry. Our Deputy Mayor Han and I share the sa view, and thus we have today’s Porcelain Art Exchange Conference, aid at enhancing understanding of the porcelain industry and promoting the consumption of porcelain artworks. If any of you have plans to develop the porcelain industry, you may talk to .”

Song Xiaodong and Chu Xianling continued their stroll.

“There are indeed so pretty valuable exhibits here! Deputy Mayor Han certainly put in considerable effort for this Overseas Chinese.” Song Xiaodong said to Chu Xianling.

“Yes, he’s made it quite official. I’ve never heard that our Minghe has any long-standing porcelain art history!” Chu Xianling replied.

“Just fooling that Overseas Chinese. He’s unfamiliar with this place, doesn’t know anything.” Song Xiaodong said.

“Didn’t you hear what he just said? He’s from Minghe too.” Chu Xianling noted.

“Then he must not have co back for many years. Now that he’s made sothing of himself, he returns to his hotown to show off. If he really wants to invest in the industry, he should just quietly put in money; no need for exchange conferences or speeches.” Initially, Song Xiaodong wanted to cause trouble for Deputy Mayor Han, but he has now taken a dislike to Zhang Dongfang.

“Hey hey hey, I like this one!” Chu Xianling pointed at a piece of porcelain and said to Song Xiaodong.

“Let

see.” Song Xiaodong leaned in to take a look. It was a hand-painted ink-colored Phoenix Tail Zun from the Qing Kangxi Era, with a wide mouth and a big belly. The porcelain was as white as fat, the patterns ink-green with shades of jade. It depicted a hillside family’s scene, the overall lines were rounded and heavy, with elegant pale colors, truly beautiful.

Song Xiaodong didn’t understand porcelain, but he could still tell it was a good piece, as the price was clearly marked beneath the glass cabinet, with lots of zeros following an 8.

“Good piece, good price. Buy!” Song Xiaodong waved grandly.

“Xiaodong, you’re wonderful!” There is no mont more dashing for a man than the mont he says “buy.” Hearing Song Xiaodong say “buy,” Chu Xianling couldn’t help but hug Song Xiaodong’s shoulder, tiptoeing to give him a peck on the cheek.
