Chapter 1409: Chapter 1394: Clash of the Strong
“Everyone, this is Mr. Song Xiaodong, from the outside world, but I have investigated thoroughly, and the path he ca from is one that no one else could possibly enter.”
Huyan Lie stood firm, loudly introducing Song Xiaodong.
A man in his forties, tall and brawny, with a fierce look, shouted, “The outside world? Lord Huyan, when soone from the outside cos here, we should kill him imdiately to prevent him from informing others about us.”
Huyan Lie said, “That passage is the one the Python God uses to search for food. The Python God brought them in, and only the Python God can enter that passage; humans simply can’t do it.”
Everyone was startled; that monstrous snake was terrifying to all of them. There is a forbidden area where that kind of snake roams, and no one dares to go there.
“City Lord, are you certain of this?” an elder with white hair and beard asked solemnly.
Huyan Lie nodded and said, “Yes, past the territory of the Dragon Bird, there is a cave where you can see the Python God. Fortunately, the cave entrance is very small, and the Python God cannot co through.”
Not waiting for others to speak, Huyan Lie continued, “Everyone, Mr. Song is extrely talented. Since he can’t leave, I plan to keep him in our city. Yesterday, there was a conflict with the Cao Family, and now, if a duel occurs here with the Cao Family, if he wins, the Cao Family will give Mr. Song twenty able-bodied n. If Mr. Song loses, I will compensate the Cao Family with a thousand pounds of cured at, plus the maidservants Huarui and Huaqing, and of course, we will expel him from our city.”
Huyan Lie was, after all, still the City Lord. Hearing this, everyone quieted down, then their gaze turned to Song Xiaodong. They all knew the strength of the Cao Family. The Cao Family’s top expert was second only to Huyan Lie in this city. They couldn’t believe an outsider could compete with the Cao Family’s top expert—it was a dead-end; thus, the terms mattered little.
Cao Bing whispered to a tall, lean man, “Uncle Lian, this kid crippled my Kung Fu. You must kill him on the spot to dispel my hatred.”
Cao Lian, the top expert of the Cao Family, nodded with a face void of expression, his gaze fixed coldly on Song Xiaodong.
Despite the distance, Song Xiaodong felt the killing aura. Looking towards Cao Lian, his gaze remained as calm and still as an ancient well.
After a few more words from Huyan Lie, Song Xiaodong and Cao Lian walked to the center of the field together.
There was no arena here; it was usually a training ground cleared to serve as a good place for a duel.
There were no rules for the duel; the bout ended when one side lost the ability to fight, or one side surrendered.
Standing about five or six ters apart, Song Xiaodong and Cao Lian looked at each other.
“I am Cao Lian, pleased to learn from you!” Cao Lian cupped his hands towards Song Xiaodong.
Song Xiaodong also cupped his hands and said, “Song Xiaodong, pleased to learn from you.”
After this exchange, their fighting spirit suddenly soared. Cao Lian imdiately charged towards Song Xiaodong, not doing any other preparation, or rather, he had been prepared, ready to act anyti one stepped on the field.
Song Xiaodong did not show weakness and charged directly at Cao Lian. In a contest of experts, one must not lose montum, for if one did, they would find themselves at a disadvantage, which is hard to recover from at this level of duel.
“Boom boom boom…” The two quickly t in the middle and exchanged several moves directly.
Huyan Lie’s eyes lit up. He was well aware of Cao Lian’s level, just a notch below his own, and felt that Song Xiaodong was still below him. Yet, engaging in a head-on confrontation, Song Xiaodong showed no signs of falling behind, utterly unexpected.
The stronger Song Xiaodong’s abilities beca, the happier Huyan Lie felt. It ant he would have a stronger ally by his side, whether it was to consolidate his forces in the city or for future battles, giving him more confidence.
Other people were also astonished. They thought that as soon as Cao Lian struck, Song Xiaodong wouldn’t last more than three moves. Yet, Cao Lian gained no advantage, turning it into a balanced duel.
This astonished and delighted everyone except the Cao Family. These individuals had no intention of vying for City Lord and held no grudges against Song Xiaodong, hoping for stronger forces within the city.
But it was different for the Cao Family, who were nearly dropping their jaws in shock. This was entirely opposite to their expectations, where they thought Song Xiaodong would be dead on the spot.
As the duel between Song Xiaodong and Cao Lian grew faster, those less skilled couldn’t tell which was which.
Even those with slightly better skills could only distinguish between the two figures, and only true experts could discern how they made their moves.
“Who do you think will win?” an elder asked a short man behind him, the strongest expert in his household.
The man replied solemnly, “It’s not clear yet; the man’s Kung Fu is quite strange, simple and direct, every move targeting vital points—I have never seen such techniques before.”
