Chapter 1001: Chapter 1002: Not Taken Seriously
A few people were talking, and a few more walked in. Liu Chunan and Wang Liancheng quickly stepped forward to greet them.
“Deputy Director Sun!” Liu Chunan and Wang Liancheng both wore broad smiles.
Deputy Director Sun, nad Sun Yu, just turned forty this year and is already the director of the provincial Health Bureau—a man with boundless prospects, primarily due to his strong connections. Everyone in the bureau considers him the most promising individual with the best future potential.
Sun Yu nodded to Wang Liancheng and then smiled at Liu Chunan, saying, “Dean Liu, long ti no see.”
Liu Chunan imdiately responded with a smile, “Deputy Director Sun, I didn’t expect you to still rember .”
For soone at Sun Yu’s level, it’s like directly conversing with the university’s president. Though a dean’s level is not low, it really can’t compare to soone like Sun Yu.
Sun Yu laughed, “Your university is the main university of our Health Bureau. As the dean of the Traditional Chinese dicine Hospital, how could I not know you.”
Liu Chunan quickly said, “Deputy Director Sun, you are the one with limitless prospects. It’s perfect to et here today. Shall we join you?”
Sun Yu waved his hand and said, “Thank you, Dean Liu, but today I’m just having a small gathering with friends, so I won’t join you.”
Liu Chunan quickly said, “Then I won’t disturb you. I’ll cover the bill later.”
Sun Yu laughed, “That’s not necessary. I appreciate your gesture, but today I’m taking advantage of my friends’ generosity. If you pay, I’d miss out on that great opportunity.”
Liu Chunan saw Sun Yu refuse, so he couldn’t insist further. After saying a few more polite words, he noted which private room they entered, planning to offer them a toast later.
“Director Wang, who are those people that even Deputy Director Sun wants to hit up for a big spending?”
Wang Liancheng replied, “You don’t know? Deputy Director Sun seldom goes out for als and rarely accepts invitations unless from his friends. Those with so interest-based relationships like us, he wouldn’t entertain.”
Liu Chunan said “Oh,” but was rather disdainful inwardly. So leaders now deem it necessary to show clean governance by acting aloof; that only proves your relationship with them isn’t close. Those truly close would definitely accept an invitation.
Liu Chunan and the others entered their private room and ate and drank for a while before Liu Chunan irately said, “That Song Xiaodong is really sothing, not even coming over to offer a drink. That’s truly unacceptable.”
Just then, Wang Liancheng’s phone rang, and he didn’t pick up Liu Chunan’s remark but quickly answered the call.
The call was from Wang Liancheng’s brother, who said, “Brother, have you found a suitable Traditional Chinese dicine practitioner? Dad just asked
again. You work at the Health Bureau, aren’t traditional dicine and all that under your charge? Can’t you find a suitable doctor?”
Wang Liancheng said imdiately, “I’ll arrange it for Dad right away, now going to find soone, aiming to have them see him tonight.”
“Do your best then; the main thing is to ease his mind.”
Wang Liancheng hung up and stood up to say, “Dean Liu, I’m going to offer a toast.”
Liu Chunan’s eyes widened, “You’re going to offer him a toast? Director Wang, what are you doing?”
Wang Liancheng said, “I need soone to examine Dad, my brother rushed
just now. I’m going to offer a toast to show sincerity first and then have him check on Dad.”
“I see… Alright then.” Liu Chunan’s eyes darted around once, and he nodded.
The two of them carried their wine glasses over to the private room where Song Xiaodong and his group were. They could hear the laughter of several girls inside from outside the room.
Liu Chunan snorted, “Out of line, a teacher dining with female students and having such a good ti, who knows what they’re doing inside.”
Wang Liancheng said, “Let’s discuss that later; let’s offer a toast first.”
The two pushed the door open and the room imdiately quieted. Song Xiaodong and his group looked at Liu Chunan and Wang Liancheng in surprise.
Liu Chunan saw that Song Xiaodong did not stand up and imdiately frowned, saying, “Teacher Song, this is Director Wang from the provincial Health Bureau. Quickly stand up.”
Wang Liancheng laughed heartily, “You must be Doctor Song, I’m Wang Liancheng.”
Out of courtesy, Song Xiaodong standing up is nothing, it’s basic manners, but Liu Chunan speaking with such an attitude made him unhappy. He replied calmly, “That’s , is there sothing?” and remained seated.
Liu Chunan glared and said sternly, “Song Xiaodong, what kind of attitude is this? Director Wang is here to offer you a toast, and you don’t even stand up. Do you take Director Wang seriously or not?”
Wang Liancheng was also quite displeased by Song Xiaodong’s attitude, a teacher from an institute so arrogant, seemingly overlooking him, the director. He wanted to see just what kind of person Song Xiaodong was, so he said nothing.
“We just want a quiet al, so there’s no need for you both to offer a toast.” Song Xiaodong’s tone remained calm.
Liu Chunan flared up, put his glass down on the table forcefully, and said, “Song Xiaodong, you’re too arrogant. Do you realize Director Wang could with a word make it impossible for you not only to stay at our university, but also to be a doctor? Do you not care about your future?”
Song Xiaodong narrowed his eyes slightly and said, “I teach at university to cultivate so dical talents. I practice dicine to treat patients. Do you think just because I’ve not been overly courteous or flattering, you can deny
the right to practice as a doctor?”
Liu Chunan said with a grim face, “What do you think? It can be done with just a word; you should consider your future.”
Song Xiaodong smiled faintly and said, “I work as a doctor and teacher simply doing my job, not serving so official nor needing to watch anyone’s face. You can leave.”
Liu Chunan pointed to Song Xiaodong, his face livid with anger, “Director Wang, as you can see, keeping soone like this at the university would be detrintal to students, keeping him among doctors would definitely harm others. He should be imdiately expelled from the university and should have his qualification to be a doctor revoked, ensuring he never gets another chance.”
“Master! You…” Lu Yaobing was very anxious upon seeing Song Xiaodong’s indifferent attitude. She didn’t want Song Xiaodong to lose his status as a teacher and doctor due to offending others, and as a disciple, she was very concerned.
anwhile, Wang Xiaoling and the other three girls didn’t notice Lu Yaobing’s way of addressing Song Xiaodong. They were also very worried because here were a dean from the university and a director from the Health Bureau—such high-ranking officials. Song Xiaodong was rely a teacher, how could a little arm twist a big leg?
