Chapter 792: Chapter 781 Annual eting
“How does it look?” Lin Yu stood up and took a couple of steps in front of Song Yun, saying, “Nice shoes, huh?”
“Indeed, they’re nice!” Song Yun nodded and responded, “They match your feet really well.”
“Mhm, then please help
with the other one too,” Lin Yu said as she sat down, looking expectantly at Song Yun.
Since the hint was as clear as day, Song Yun naturally did not shy away and spent about five minutes putting the other shoe on Lin Yu. Lin Yu was totally satisfied, and Song Yun was quite pleased with himself, although he didn’t notice Lin Yu’s cheeks blushing while he touched her calf, too engrossed in the task at hand.
Once everything was ready, the two left Lin Yu’s ho together and drove towards the Sunan Province TV Station.
The TV station tonight was brightly lit, ablaze with lights. Various cars were parked outside the building; there were luxury cars, of course, and so not so impressive. The entire TV station was imrsed in a festive atmosphere.
At the entrance of the station, a red banner hung in the middle, celebrating the successful hosting of the annual event, nothing unusual.
As the outstanding host of the year for the Sunan Province TV Station, Lin Yu’s arrival still caused a bit of a stir at the entrance, while Song Yun, standing next to her, seed rather shabby and plain by comparison. After all, Song Yun was not wearing a fancy suit, nor had he styled his hair impressively. He only wore a ring on his finger and a watch on his wrist, which looked a bit old and not particularly shiny like those luxury watches—probably not worth much money.
Being a firm practitioner of the “pretend to be a pig to eat a tiger” strategy, Song Yun resolutely began to ‘play dumb’ the mont he appeared with Lin Yu. Of course, no one of such poor taste ca forward to scorn or disdain Song Yun outright; after all, everyone was civilized—contempt is sothing you keep in your heart, because showing it on your face would an you’re not fit to attend the TV station’s annual event.
Nevertheless, the cold-shouldering of Song Yun beca a fact.
From the ground floor to the upstairs where the annual event was held, Lin Yu must have encountered countless people, all of them warmly greeting her. There were indeed a few who had seen Song Yun together with Shen Yan, and having worked with him on the ‘Superwoman’ show, showed considerable attention to Song Yun.
“There sure are a lot of people at your TV station!” Song Yun remarked with feeling. From the ground floor all the way up to the main hall where the annual event was being hosted, Song Yun and Lin Yu must have t over fifty people coming up to greet them. Among them were reporters, hosts, screenplay writers, directors, and even those delivering boxed als.
“Of course, it’s crowded. One TV station, how many programs are there? Every program has directors, lighting, cara operators, and all. It looks like we’ve got a hundred tables set up tonight. Thankfully our hall is big enough; otherwise, we wouldn’t all fit!” Lin Yu chatted away while holding Song Yun’s hand. Tonight, her date was Song Yun, so it was only natural for her to behave this way, and she enjoyed it. If Lin Jia happened to see them, that would be even better!
It must be said, the overt and covert battles were always ongoing, even between two people who weren’t exactly brilliant minds.
“Shen Yan didn’t co tonight?” Song Yun asked.
“No, the young master recently seems to have gone down to a local station, saying he’s working on a large-scale program. I’m not too clear on the details myself, but supposedly, it’s even more impressive than last ti’s ‘Superwoman’!” Lin Yu said as she led Song Yun through the banquet hall, straight to the front where so middle-aged and older people sat.
“Xiao Lin, you’re here!” A middle-aged man waved to Lin Yu, and she walked over with a smile, “Station Manager, I heard there is going to be a prize drawing tonight?”
“Yes, yes, yes, the first prize is a Chevrolet sedan! Haha, give it a shot and see if you can win it!” The Station Manager said with a smile. Then, as if he had just noticed Song Yun, he added with so surprise, “Eh… isn’t that Song Yun?”
“Haha, yes, it’s !” Song Yun laughed and nodded. He didn’t really know this Station Manager. Song Yun had gotten Lin Yu the award for best host by networking through the Radio and Television General Administration, without direct contact with the Station Manager. However, the fact that the Station Manager recognized him wasn’t too surprising; in Sunan’s upper circles, there was hardly anyone who didn’t know Song Yun, which annoyed him a bit. If everyone recognizes , how can I still ‘play dumb’? Plus, if I have to play that role with those who aren’t very remarkable, it loses the thrill, not to ntion any sense of achievent.
“Hahaha, I often hear Shen Yan talking about you!” The Station Manager’s face was full of warm smiles, “Co, co, co, sit with us.”
“No, it’s fine; sitting with Lin Yu is good,” Song Yun smiled and declined, “We’ll have ti to chat on another occasion.”
“Hey, Lin Yu, co sit with us,” the Station Manager decisively insisted. Who was Song Yun? Not just the godfather of Sunan, but a frequent guest of even more influential individuals. Such a person, no matter where, needed to be networked with. With this opportunity at hand, if the Station Manager didn’t seize it, he’d have been wasting his ti leading the station.
To Song Yun, the little Station Manager mattered little in his sche of things. What was Song Yun’s new perspective? The people contending with him were all haughty and audacious characters. The Station Manager was rely a Bureau cadre, and Song Yun could occasionally deal with even the big shots of Sunan, so this little Station Manager didn’t catch his eye much.
However, there’s a saying that goes, “The more friends you have, the more paths you open.” Since the Station Manager was showing goodwill, Song Yun was not about to foolishly snub him like a pretentious second-generation rich kid would. After expressing his wish to sit with the younger crowd, the Station Manager tactfully ceased insisting but made sure to tell Song Yun to co over for a toast later, leaving Song Yun with no choice but to nod in agreent.
Lin Yu’s table was at the third position. The first table was for the Station Manager and people from the Radio and Television Bureau, the second for so of the higher-ups of the station with slightly lesser status, and the third was for the well-known hosts.
By the ti Song Yun and Lin Yu arrived, the table was already seated with six or seven people. Now with them, it was nearly full.
As the excellent host, the mont Lin Yu sat down, people nearby were all warmth and chatter, vying for her favor. Song Yun couldn’t help but reflect that this veneer of fa seed inconsequential, yet for so people, it proved quite useful. At least with a reputation, people would co to fawn over you and be nice to you; at the very least, they’d engage in more conversation with you.
“Lin Yu, is this your boyfriend?” asked a rather nice-looking female host who worked on the entertainnt channel. Her na was Su Ge.
“He’s a friend, a very close friend,” Lin Yu replied with a smile.
“Oh! What’s his na? And what’s his career?” Su Ge asked curiously.
“My na is Song Yun,” Song Yun said with a smile, “currently a full-ti idler.”
“Hehe, you’re quite humorous!” Su Ge covered her mouth and giggled, then seed to lose interest in Song Yun, turning to Lin Yu and engaging in conversation, intermittently pulling out an iPhone of so generation and taking selfies and posting to Weibo.
