Capítulo 1427: Chapter 1412: Cunning and Devious
“Don’t you dare speak that way about Lord Ghost King.”
Bailing glared angrily at Song Yun.
“Isn’t this obvious?”
Song Yun shrugged and said, “He’s planning to kill even you. You tell , can such a person still be considered one of your kin? You’ve co to
ti and again, putting in endless effort to avenge your people. But what about him? He let you follow
to die without a second thought. And you still don’t let
say anything? Bailing, I’ve always thought you were smart. How could you be so dumb today?”
“I… you.”
Bailing’s face showed a conflicted expression, then she glanced at the Ghost King and said, “Lord Ghost King…”
“Your sacrifice for
is an honor.”
The Ghost King lacked sympathy or reluctance over sacrificing his own. He was excited at the thought that he could kill Song Yun soon. Although he was still numb all over, it didn’t affect his mood.
How long has it been?
He’s been dreaming of killing Song Yun day and night, and today it’s about to beco a reality. How could he not be thrilled?
The Ghost King even felt his own thrill rising higher.
This was a sign of extre excitent.
“Lord Ghost King…”
Bailing looked at the Ghost King with despair.
“As a kin, one must always be ready to sacrifice for .”
The Ghost King said, “My kin, your death is aningful. Hahaha.”
Bailing was utterly hopeless.
Though she grew up freely in the mountains, ready to jump into fire for her people, it didn’t an she was willing to die in such a senseless way. Even though the Ghost King’s words sounded nice, survival was the most important. Bailing was just a girl under twenty, without the mindset shaped by brainwashing to die for soone. She wanted to live, stay with her parents.
Despite the high regard she held for the Ghost King, it didn’t an she would die for him.
The Ghost King’s cold indifference began to crumble Bailing’s worldview.
“See what I an?”
At this mont, Song Yun played the role of an instigator, “Nowadays, it’s easy to flaunt righteousness until faced with sothing real. Like those people who appear devoted to the community before a disaster; when an earthquake or fire strikes, they’re the first to flee. You’ve heard the saying that leaders leave first. Now that he’s caught , who do you think you are? If I follow you out, they’ll be dood, right? Of course, Bailing, we’re good friends. If you really want to leave, I’ll definitely stay behind. Let
die alone—what do you think?”
Bailing looked at Song Yun with tearful eyes and said, “Are you telling the truth?”
“Damn, you really plan on this.”
Song Yun secretly cursed but said aloud, “Of course, we’re friends. You’ve saved
several tis; now it’s my turn to repay the favor.”
Bailing glanced hopefully at the Ghost King.
“Song Yun, that talk would only fool the naive.”
The Ghost King shook his head, “Do you really think I’m that easy to deceive?”
“I’m not deceiving you, I swear. Bailing and I are friends; one alive is better than two dead, right?” Song Yun said, “Besides, they’re your kin. Do you really want to watch them die?”
“Song Yun, stop with the sweet talk.”
The Ghost King chuckled disdainfully, “Haven’t you heard this phrase circulating in Beijing lately? Trust the system before trusting Song Yun. I know what you’re thinking, and no oath will change it. I’m not taking that risk. Song Yun, this ti you’re dood.”
“See, Bailing? I’ve tried everything, but there’s no way out. We can only die together. The saying goes… uh, never mind. Forget being born on the sa day, but let’s die on the sa day. At least we’re dying together. In the next life, I’ll marry you.”
Song Yun smiled and said.
“You… you’re awful.”
Bailing felt helpless looking at Song Yun, who still had the heart to joke at such a dire ti. Strangely, she felt she should hate him for causing this, for dragging her into death. Yet, she simply couldn’t bring herself to hate Song Yun. She found this bad man to be truly detestable.
“Enough talk.”
The Ghost King smiled at Master Lang and said, “Prepare to send them on their way.”
“No problem.”
Master Lang chuckled and pressed a button on a console before him.
Buzz.
A low sound followed by chanical noises.
Song Yun felt a tremor under his feet.
The whole cage began to move.
At this point, Song Yun realized he was standing on sothing resembling a conveyor belt.
“Move the ship out.”
The Ghost King said, “The water isn’t deep enough here.”
“No problem.”
Master Lang smiled and pressed another button.
The ship from the National Security Bureau Special Action Departnt began to slowly head overseas.
“Lord Ghost King”
Bailing called out unwillingly, but the Ghost King ignored her, looking coldly at Song Yun, “Song Yun, no matter how skillful you are, today I will ensure your death. Even if you can control your heartbeat and oxygen usage, you won’t escape the water today.”
“You can’t be sure.”
Song Yun glanced at the Ghost King, noticing he was about ten ters away. The gaps between the iron rods in his cage hardly allowed for passage.
Song Yun discreetly reached a hand behind him.
“The end of this conveyor is the open sea. If there’s a next life, Song Yun, rember not to oppose .”
The Ghost King said smugly.
“Also rember not to oppose .”
Master Lang added.
Song Yun’s face showed anxiety as he restlessly paced within the cage.
“Fear is useless now.”
The Ghost King said, “Everything is destined.”
When Song Yun reached the gap in the cage, he abruptly stopped.
“Even if I die, I like to take soone down with .”
Song Yun suddenly said.
Then, under the Ghost King’s bewildered gaze, Song Yun swiftly pulled his hand from behind, flinging it forward.
A streak of black light shot through the cage gap, straight at the Ghost King.
“What?”
The Ghost King, basking in the mont of seeing the cage, was about to be sent overboard, suddenly alard.
The black light ca too fast and too fierce.
Too fast for the Ghost King to respond.
Though one could say his injured state had slowed his reflexes, causing him to react too slowly.
“Master Lang!”
The Ghost King urgently called.
Master Lang’s injuries weren’t as severe as the Ghost King’s, and in theory, Master Lang had a chance to help.
However.
Master Lang, who was just about to move.
Suddenly paused.
It was the kind of mont where everyone saw the intent to act, yet the movent abruptly halted.
Then.
He moved again.
