Chapter 1035: Chapter 1023: The Desolate Clinic
Song Yun eventually followed Mo Yuyao into her room.
The room was very simple. Against the wall was a wooden bed with so clean bedding on it. Next to the bed was a nightstand with a few books on top. In the corner was a wardrobe, and beside the wardrobe was a clothes rack with a white coat hanging on it.
Mo Yuyao pointed around the room and said, "This is my ho!"
"Around here, how far is the nearest habitation?" Song Yun asked.
"It’s that school over there, the nearest one, about a kiloter away. Another half a kiloter out, there’s a household," Mo Yuyao replied.
"It’s pretty deserted here every day. Weren’t you scared when you first got here?" Song Yun sat by Mo Yuyao’s bed and asked.
"Scared, of course!" Mo Yuyao said, "The first day I ca, I wanted to go back because it was too tough here. When I first ca, there weren’t even these cabinets; I found ti to have soone make them later, and the bed was in tatters. The first day, I barely slept. The second day, I wanted to give up, but then soone ca for a consultation. I treated them, and I still rember the grateful smile on their face clearly. Then I told myself, maybe I’m suffering a little, but I can bring happiness to many people, and that’s enough. Slowly, I adapted to life here."
"And it’s been like this ever since? Do you have any plans for the future?" Song Yun asked again, repeating the question.
"Actually, although life here is tough, it does have its joys," Mo Yuyao said, seemingly avoiding the question. "The air is good here, with no pollution, and there are many things to explore in the mountains. People from the village often take
hunting. Also, the university students who co for volunteer teaching often co to my place in the evenings. We play cards, chat, and if I have ti, I can teach the children. This way, a month or two passes quickly. At least for now, I’m quite content. As for future plans, I might stay here for a long ti because, as I said before, the people here can’t do without ."
"What if I build a professional hospital here? At least equip it with about ten dical staff. Will you still stay here?" Song Yun asked.
"You want to build a hospital?" Mo Yuyao’s eyes lit up, and she looked at Song Yun expectantly, "There are still many illnesses here that need treatnt in big hospitals. Sotis, I’m really helpless with so patients due to environntal and equipnt constraints. There are surgeries I can perform, but we have to travel half a day to the town’s health center, and as you know, ti is the most precious thing in treating and saving lives!"
"I do have such an idea, but it’s not very realistic given the conditions here. If I were to build a hospital, it would be a waste of resources because there are too few people," Song Yun said.
"That’s true," Mo Yuyao nodded, "Actually, what the village needs most is a good road. If we can build roads, we can transport a lot of things, because Xiangyang Village is quite rich in produce. But due to the road issues, transportation is inconvenient, and many things can only be sold locally."
"Building roads is a big deal. At the very least, it needs to be reported to the provincial traffic departnt. I’m not familiar with people in your provincial system, so I’ll let Taotie look into it. Of course, you’ll have to get your village chief to show the potential for developnt to them before they’ll spend money to build the road here," Song Yun said. "If they don’t see the potential, you can’t expect them to spend billions just to make it easier for you to travel."
"Alas, let’s take it slow," Mo Yuyao yawned, then looked at the clock on the wall, and her face suddenly turned a bit strange.
"What’s wrong?" Song Yun asked.
"Well, I have a question," Mo Yuyao said.
"What question?"
"It’s eleven o’clock at night now, right?" Mo Yuyao asked.
Song Yun took out his phone and checked, "Yeah!"
"So, usually at this hour, people need to sleep, right?"
"That’s right!"
"So, where are you going to sleep?" Mo Yuyao asked.
Song Yun was stunned for a mont, then looked at Mo Yuyao with a mix of ambiguity and shyness, "Well, Yu Yao, it seems you brought
to your clinic for a purpose tonight, huh?"
"What purpose could I have?" Mo Yuyao looked puzzled.
"Just think about it, it’s almost midnight, and there’s nothing around for miles. Where else can I stay overnight except with you? And this is your territory, so wouldn’t I be at your rcy?" Song Yun said shyly.
"You’re overthinking it," Mo Yuyao said helplessly, "You can sleep outside; I’ll sleep in the room."
"Ah, outside? How can I sleep outside?" Song Yun asked.
"Just push so chairs together, and it should be fine. I still have a quilt over here; I’ll give you one, and you’ll sleep as comfortably as you can," Mo Yuyao said.
"Actually, I think, although your bed isn’t very big, it could squeeze two people," Song Yun pointed at Mo Yuyao’s bed and suggested.
"I’m not used to sleeping with guys," Mo Yuyao shook her head decisively, "Song Yun, I’m not that kind of person."
"So you’re saying that if you were indiscriminate, you wouldn’t be human? Little nun, as a person who’s left ho, don’t play word gas!" Song Yun smirked.
"Precisely because one has left ho, we must keep a distance from n like you!" Mo Yuyao chuckled, "Benefactor, tonight I must trouble you to make do outside. Tomorrow, we still have things to do!"
"What things?" Song Yun asked.
"Several households need return visits to check on their recovery, and there’s also a household to send money to—the one thousand yuan from last ti. If you’re not in a rush to leave tomorrow, you can co with ," Mo Yuyao said, "I promise it won’t be a wasted trip for you."
"So, that ans tomorrow I’ll endure so hardship?" Song Yun asked.
"Well, it shouldn’t be too bad!" Mo Yuyao smiled mysteriously, "You’ll know when the ti cos."
"Well, since we’re going to suffer tomorrow, can’t you let
sleep comfortably tonight?" Song Yun said shyly.
