Chapter 1020: Chapter 1008: Alliance
“Then I’ll go with you tomorrow to take a look.” Song Yun said, “Coincidentally, we’re sending supplies over there, and the filming crew will follow. I might as well keep an eye on things throughout.”
“Huh? You’re going too?” Yu Yao looked at Song Yun in surprise.
“Yes, is that not okay?” Song Yun asked.
“It’s not that it’s not okay, it’s just that the lifestyle over there can’t compare to outside. You can’t just leave in one day; the mountain roads alone take a full day to travel back and forth. You won’t be able to adapt to living there!” Yu Yao explained.
“You’re underestimating !” Song Yun said with a smile, “I’ve lived in all kinds of places, even ones not ant for people. There’s nowhere I can’t adapt to. It’s settled then; as the head of this charity fund, I need to check how our donations have been utilized.”
“Suit yourself then,” Yu Yao said, “If you really can’t adapt, I’m not responsible!”
“Hmm, if I can’t adapt, I’ll donate another million.” Song Yun said.
“Alright, it’s a deal!” Yu Yao imdiately held out her finger, “Promise.”
Song Yun smiled helplessly, also extended his finger, and hooked it with Yu Yao’s.
“Alright, conversation over, let’s go eat!” Song Yun said, “You’re much skinnier now compared to before and much tanner. If people hadn’t told
you were Yu Yao, I wouldn’t have recognized you!”
“Getting skinny is great; I always wanted to lose weight! I’m not eating; I’m not hungry, just sleepy.” Yu Yao said with a smile.
“How can you not eat? There’s a charity auction coming up, and the money raised will go towards drilling a well for Xiangyang Village. If you don’t go, we can’t rely on others alone!” Song Yun said.
“Really?” Yu Yao asked, “There’s a charity auction later?”
“Yes, there is! Celebrities from yn will be there!” Song Yun said.
“Then let’s go!”
Yu Yao, still in her pajamas, walked out of the room, then returned under Song Yun’s amused gaze.
“Step out for a bit; I need to change.” Yu Yao said.
Song Yun nodded, not making a fuss, and turned to leave the room.
Yu Yao changed quickly, putting on the sa sportswear she wore earlier, looking energetic with a faint smile on her face.
“This style really suits you now!” Song Yun comnted as he looked at Yu Yao.
“I think so too.” Yu Yao said with a beaming smile, “I feel like my current life is the life I want, doing my part to help those in need. Seeing you manage this charity fund, I really admire you!”
“Then why did you say just a few words and then run off earlier?” Song Yun asked.
“I was nervous.” Yu Yao replied, “Suddenly seeing you, I felt a bit…awkward.”
“Don’t be awkward, you’ll get used to it.” Song Yun said, “Let’s go downstairs!”
“Yes, okay!”
As they spoke, the two headed downstairs.
By this ti, it had been more than ten minutes since Song Yun went upstairs.
Song Yun pushed open the private room door, only to find that no dishes had been served yet, and everyone was waiting for him.
“Sorry to keep you all waiting!” Song Yun apologized quickly.
“Haha, don’t be a stranger, co on, Song Yun, have a seat!” an enthusiastic leader said.
Yu Yao sat directly next to Song Qingniu, who looked at Yu Yao and Song Yun in surprise and then asked, “Yu Yao, are you and Chief Song Yun very familiar?”
“We’re friends!” Yu Yao said with a smile, “He’s coming to the village with us tomorrow.”
“Village chief, don’t call
chief, just call
Song Yun!” Song Yun said.
“A chief is a chief, how can I just call you by your na!” the village chief shook his head.
“Village chief, it’s okay, Song Yun is just an ordinary person, just call him Song Yun!” Yu Yao added.
Under the dual persuasion of Song Yun and Yu Yao, the village chief finally decided to stop calling him chief.
The dishes ca quickly, like flowing water, with plenty of at. Although eating vegetarian and healthy is trendy now, for many from the mountains, eating at is paramount. If you work hard under the sun for a week, eating plain rice porridge and pickles every day, you wouldn’t worry about gaining weight or high cholesterol.
The al was thoroughly enjoyed by both host and guests; the old village chief might never have eaten such delicious food in his life and ate quite a bit, also drinking a few glasses of white wine. His tolerance for alcohol was quite impressive, easily handling the drinks.
After a brief rest following lunch, everyone headed to the next location. Of course, the provincial leaders and city officials didn’t follow this ti; they were too busy to follow along constantly.
What does being a leader an? Constantly trailing after others? That’s hardly leadership.
The charity auction was arranged by Xuanwu, so many people attended. As for the auction items, Song Yun wasn’t sure where they ca from; they were all donated by kind-hearted individuals.
The auction lasted into the evening, raising over half a million, which should be enough to drill a well.
As usual, dinner followed. After dinner, Song Yun went into a private study with Xuanwu.
They talked in the study for quite so ti; no one knows what was said. However, a few days later, Xuanwu released a statent saying Song Yun was his strongest partner, and they would work in harmony.
The statent surprised people sowhat, but such alliance statents are common in the Martial World and usually hold no binding power, so many people didn’t take it seriously.
When Song Yun erged from Xuanwu’s study, it was already evening, and as he was about to go back and rest, he bumped into Yu Yao.
Yu Yao was with a few university student volunteers planning to visit the km night market and buy so gifts.
“Wanna co along?” Yu Yao invited.
Song Yun didn’t hesitate much, nodded, then called Qingluan to explain what he was up to, and joined Yu Yao and the others out on the street.
After getting to know them, Song Yun discovered that a couple of these student volunteers ca from quite privileged backgrounds. However, they went to volunteer in remote places like Xiangyang Village to achieve personal goals or other reasons.
Song Yun deeply respected people like this; imagine, switching from a comfortable life to one where even eating at is a luxury, what a stark contrast!
As they say, you appreciate good things more when compared to the bad; these people enduring such contrast are truly admirable.
They strolled through the night market together, buying simple local items, mostly priced at ten yuan for three or four things.
Yu Yao picked things very diligently, haggling over each item until she was satisfied, ending the night with a lot of purchases but spending less than one hundred yuan.
