Chapter 341: Chapter 343: The Most Pitiful Are Those Who Don’t Cherish
After sitting on a bench for a while, Wu Tian and the little girl got up and continued their stroll through the park.
In the city, when and where is the air the freshest? Without a doubt, it is in a park in the morning.
The park had a snack bar—only one, of course—and its wares were a bit more expensive than elsewhere. The little girl wanted ice cream, and Wu Tian naturally indulged her. With her body protected by Spiritual Energy, it would not affect her health in the slightest.
A single cup of ice cream cost thirty-five yuan. This made Wu Tian reminisce about his childhood: beverages for fifty cents, with options like cola or orange juice... and small boxes of ice cream that also cost fifty cents.
Wu Tian took the little girl’s hand and they walked on, she happily eating her ice cream while taking in the park’s scenery. There were flowers, plants, and trees, as well as a small river where people could go boating. There were also elderly won practicing with Tai Chi swords and elderly n practicing Tai Chi boxing.
Wu Tian rather liked these simple days. The Boundless Corporation was managed by others, leaving him to live a lazy life and relax occasionally. It was a wonderful feeling.
As for the affairs of the Lanling Xiao Family, Wu Tian knew nothing. Even if he did, he would not care. The Lanling Xiao Family had expelled talented individuals like Xiao Liang and Xiao Tianzan. A family like that, in his view, had little potential. Even if he learned that the Lanling Xiao Family had challenged the Sword Saint of Fusang and suffered heavy casualties, Wu Tian would only see it as them courting their own death. They had no one to bla but themselves.
After strolling for a bit, Wu Tian took the little girl to a small restaurant in an alley outside the park. The people of Yang City mostly ate rice noodle rolls for breakfast, like lean at rolls and egg rolls. The little girl ate with great gusto, devouring two portions all by herself. Drenched in sauce, the rice noodle rolls were delicious. Many people in Yang City made rice noodle rolls, and their techniques were largely the sa. The sauce, however, was another matter; every establishnt had its own secret recipe.
Just as Wu Tian took his first bite, his phone vibrated.
"Hello," Wu Tian said indifferently.
"Mr. Wu Tian, it’s , Wang Congming!" It was none other than Wang Congming, whom many won in Dragon Country famously called the "National Husband."
He hurriedly asked where Wu Tian was. After Wu Tian casually told him, Wang Congming quickly said that he and his father would be right over. Ever since watching Wu Tian’s battle with the Sword Emperor on television, Wang Congming had been determined to beco his disciple.
「In a villa elsewhere in Yang City」
Wang Congming imdiately hung up the phone and found Wang Dawan. "Dad, let’s go."
"Go? Where to?" Wang Dawan asked gloomily.
"To Mr. Wu Tian’s place, of course! Where else?" Wang Congming said, his face full of yearning. "Dad, don’t tell
you have zero interest in Martial Practice. I bet you’ve been dreaming about becoming a martial arts expert, probably even drooling in your sleep."
Wang Dawan was speechless. Was that any way to talk to his own father? He flew into a rage. The Million Group’s business had been suffering recently, and people kept bringing up the money they still owed the banks. He imdiately grabbed a broom from the corner.
"Even a vicious tiger won’t eat its own cubs!" Wang Congming yelped.
Fuming, Wang Dawan chased him for a mont before giving up. "Fine, fine, fine! I’ll go see him," he agreed, panting heavily. "But I’m bringing Dr. Qiao Mi."
Wang Congming nodded.
Dr. Qiao Mi had been a military dical officer before retiring and becoming a university biology professor. He studied biology and genetics and had recently made so significant achievents. However, no one in the United States of Arica was willing to fund him, so he had co to Dragon Country and approached Wang Dawan.
His new research focused on giving people animal genes, which would allow them to possess a creature’s strength without any training. For instance, lizards can regenerate their limbs. If a human could perfectly integrate lizard genes, they could regrow a severed arm! If a person had the genes of a bird, they could soar through the sky.
Now, Wang Dawan was hesitating. Should he choose the traditional path of Martial Path cultivation or opt for the scientific thod?
By the ti the little girl finished her two large portions of lean at and egg rice noodle rolls, Wang Dawan and his party had arrived. The three of them got out of their car and walked into the small restaurant, causing the other patrons to stare, dumbfounded.
Only about one-tenth of Dragon Country’s population had seen Wu Tian’s movie-like battle a week ago, as few people watched television these days. Wang Dawan and his son, however, were a different story. Thanks to Wang Congming’s reputation as the "prosecutor of the entertainnt circle," they were practically household nas.
"Mr. Wu Tian, hello. It’s an honor to see you again," Wang Dawan said, sitting across from Wu Tian. His manner was much more respectful now. He was fully aware of how formidable Wu Tian was. Even the Sword Emperor had died so easily at his hands. In the Martial Arts World of Dragon Country, Wu Tian’s status was supre; there was no doubting it.
Wu Tian gave a faint nod in acknowledgnt.
The little girl copied him, also giving Wang Dawan a faint nod. She did not offer any polite greetings like "Hello, Uncle." But Wang Dawan was not offended. The little girl had the right to be this way, simply because her father was Wu Tian.
"Mr. Wu Tian, let
introduce you," Wang Dawan said, getting down to business. "This is Dr. Qiao Mi. He’s a bit of a scientific eccentric, ostracized by the Western scientific community, but I dare say he’s an absolute master of biology and genetics."
"Hello!" the blond, elderly man in a white lab coat and professor’s attire said to Wu Tian with a smile.
Wu Tian had no idea why Wang Dawan had brought a biologist and geneticist to see him. Wang Congming frowned slightly, shooting his father a look that urged him to get to the point.
Wang Dawan ignored him, instead turning to Wu Tian. "Mr. Wu Tian, I ca to ask you a question. Which can make
stronger: your elixirs, or the gene potions from modern science?"
Wu Tian remained silent.
Dr. Qiao Mi, however, had already declared, "Science will triumph, of course. The tis are progressing. People must learn to cultivate scientifically, to beco stronger scientifically."
Seeing Wu Tian’s silence, Wang Dawan wondered, Could it be that Mr. Wu Tian agreed with Dr. Qiao Mi?
Wang Congming could not help but glance at Wu Tian. If I were in his shoes and soone questioned my elixirs, I’d be gritting my teeth in anger. But look at Wu Tian. Faced with this situation, he remains completely calm, sitting there quietly as if it has nothing to do with him. That alone makes
want him as my master.
Dr. Qiao Mi was now excitedly telling Wang Dawan just how fantastic his gene potions were, claiming they could turn a person into a superhero like those in Marvel comics. As Wang Dawan listened, his eyes began to burn with excitent.
Wu Tian simply watched Wang Dawan as if he were an idiot. Comparing my elixirs to this low-grade potion? So be it. It seems you and I are not destined to be connected.
He picked up the little girl, and since they had finished their breakfast anyway, he turned and left.
Wang Congming saw his father, still engrossed in his discussion about gene potions with Dr. Qiao Mi. He grew anxious, thinking in frustration. Dad, oh Dad, you have a knack for business, but... you’re a terrible judge of character.
He hurriedly ran after Wu Tian.
