Chapter 26: Chapter 26 is about to begin slapping faces

Wu Tian took out his phone and dialed a number, leaving Chen Cheng and the others puzzled.

Is he calling a rideshare?

Sitting in Chen Cheng’s car, Liang Qingren frowned delicately as she watched, her heart aching for Wu Tian. She had a favorable impression of him, and seeing how the others treated him made her feel as if they were targeting her as well. Opening the car door, Liang Qingren stepped out.

"Qingren, what are you doing?" Ah Juan called out from inside the car. "It’s raining! It’s much more comfortable in here."

Only then did everyone notice that Liang Qingren had walked over to Wu Tian’s side. "I’ll wait with you," she said. "But you owe

a al for this."

At her words, Chen Cheng and the others in the luxury car were stunned.

What on earth is going on? Does Liang Qingren really care that much about this Wu Tian? But he has a child!

Many n at the Qin Corporation had pursued Liang Qingren and invited her to dinner, but she had refused them all. Yet now, she was actively approaching Wu Tian, even asking him to treat her to a al. Comparing oneself to others was truly infuriating. Chen Cheng and the other n felt a tightness in their chests.

anwhile, Wu Tian’s call finally connected.

"Xiao Liang, it’s ," Wu Tian said, addressing him directly by na.

It was rare for Wu Tian to address anyone as ’Mr.’; in this world, there was likely no one he would. The patter of the rain masked the sound of their voices.

"Mr. Wu Tian? You finally called !" On the other end, Mr. Xiao Liang, who had been practicing calligraphy, sounded suddenly excited and animated.

"Yes. I need to borrow your driver for a mont."

"No problem! Where are you right now?"

"..."

After a brief exchange, Wu Tian hung up.

From inside Chen Cheng’s rcedes, Ah Juan suggested, "Shouldn’t we just leave?"

"No," Chen Cheng refused. "I want to see what kind of clunker he gets from a rideshare app. Putting a wreck like that next to our luxury cars... Heh, it’ll be even more humiliating for him."

A short while later, a vehicle approached them. It was like a warrior clad in black armor, both sturdy and stylish.

"That’s a Knight XV!" a senior executive in the BMW exclaid.

It was 6.1 ters long, 2.5 ters wide, and 2.5 ters tall. Its exterior replaced typical vehicle curves with sharp, rhomboid lines, giving it the distinct, boxy look of an armored vehicle. Only a hundred units had been released in the entire Dragon Country, making it an exceptionally rare sight. Chen Cheng and Ah Juan stared at the Knight XV, their gazes completely captivated.

But in the next mont, their expressions turned to sheer disbelief.

The Knight XV, a prestigious car that few had ever seen in person, had pulled to a stop directly in front of Wu Tian.

"How is that possible?" Ah Juan uttered from the rcedes, her voice filled with incredulity.

"He must be asking for directions. Yes, that’s all it is," Chen Cheng said imdiately, trying to soothe his own bruised ego.

"Right, that must be it," Ah Juan nodded in agreent.

At that mont, the window of the Knight XV rolled down, revealing an old man inside. Who else could it be but Xiao Liang? He wore a newsboy cap and glasses as a disguise to avoid being recognized. He could have simply sent his driver, but Xiao Liang believed Wu Tian was one of the legendary experts whispered about in rumors—a person who must not be slighted. And so, disregarding his status as the father of a deputy provincial governor, Xiao Liang had driven over himself.

"Mr. Wu Tian, please get in."

"Alright," Wu Tian nodded calmly.

Wu Tian knew little about cars. Back in the Immortal Emperor Realm, he had once stood atop the Azure Dragon, ridden the Vermilion Bird, commanded the White Tiger, and spurred on the Xuanwu. In his eyes, a vehicle like this was utterly ordinary, no different from a rock by the side of the road and certainly not enough to impress him.

The others, however, were not like him. They had been eagerly waiting to see Wu Tian make a fool of himself. Now...

SLAP. SLAP. SLAP.

It felt as though they had each been slapped across the face several tis. This was especially true for Chen Cheng.

No, no, no, this is impossible! Maybe... maybe because he’s the president’s classmate, President Qin lent him the car and had her driver bring it. The news that Qin Yuhan and Wu Tian were classmates, which she had ntioned in the dining hall, had been overheard and spread among those who paid attention to such things. Only this explanation could make Chen Cheng feel slightly better.

The interior of the Knight XV was luxurious and fully equipped with entertainnt facilities. It featured a 27-inch LCD television and a PS3 console. A minibar, a freezer, and a cigar humidor all showcased its extravagance. The Wilton Wool cashre carpets and the six-way power-adjustable leather executive chairs exuded opulence.

The journey from the Qin Corporation to the Lanling King Hotel was quite long, and the others grew bored. But Gugu and Liang Qingren, who were with Wu Tian, did not.

By the ti they arrived at the Lanling King Hotel, the sky had already grown dark.

Xiao Liang, still in his disguise, naturally followed Wu Tian inside, hoping to witness his abilities firsthand.

When Wu Tian’s group entered, they saw that most of the attendants were won dressed in maid uniforms, all of whom were attractive. Who were the most common patrons at the Lanling King Hotel? Rich second-generation kids, of course. The typical scion of a wealthy family had a short temper, so the waitresses had to be exceptionally diligent.

As soon as they arrived, a waitress imdiately approached to greet them.

"Welco to the Lanling King Hotel. This establishnt is nad after the assassin, King of Lanling, from a popular ga. Since he’s an assassin, we’re all about excitent here."

"I know, I know," Chen Cheng chid in, feeling it was his ti to shine. "I’ve been here more than a dozen tis. You recognize , don’t you?"

"Oh, it’s Director Chen! Of course, I recognize you."

"Good. Then bring us the usual set al," Chen Cheng said with an air of generosity.

The waitress nodded and left to make the arrangents.

"See how impressive Chen Cheng is?" Ah Juan sidled up to Liang Qingren again, singing his praises. "The people who co here are all rich and powerful."

Liang Qingren’s brows furrowed slightly.

The set al Chen Cheng ordered included a private room, various foreign liquors, fruit platters, drinks, and more. With a grand wave of his hand, he glanced at Liang Qingren before announcing to Wu Tian and the others, "This one’s on . I’ll cover the one hundred thousand."

"What a great guy," Ah Juan whispered into Liang Qingren’s ear again, much to her growing annoyance.

They walked into a magnificent, glittering private room. Wu Tian, bored, sat down off to one side.

"Have you guys heard about the Mayor of Yang City’s latest policy?" Chen Cheng began. "He wants to build ten new supermarkets, and we..."

The group began discussing national affairs, though it was unclear if any of them truly understood the topic.

Wu Tian felt frustrated. What the hell did national affairs have to do with them?

About an hour later, the door to the private room was violently kicked open.
