Chapter 10: Chapter 10: The Man with Green Light on His Head
Wu Tian left the hospital with the little one in his arms. Their business at the hospital had been simple, but it had still taken up the entire morning, most of which was spent in the car. His ho was a long way from the city center, but the upside was its tranquility.
It was now lunchti. As Wu Tian and his daughter looked around, they saw that many restaurants were already packed with people.
"I’m hungry, so hungry," the little one whined, looking like she was on the verge of tears.
Wu Tian scanned his surroundings. His Spiritual Sense, which could once survey the entire Immortal Emperor Realm, could now only cover a tenth of the city center. Finally, he found a nearby restaurant. "King Arthur’s Kitchen."
Wu Tian imdiately headed there with his daughter.
The restaurant was indeed large and lavishly decorated, clearly a place for high-spenders, which was why it was less crowded. As a poor student, Wu Tian would never have dared to co here. But to him now, a mighty Immortal Emperor, this so-called luxury restaurant was nothing special. Thinking of the Black Gold Card Lin Zhan had given him, he couldn’t help but smile.
"Let’s go! Let’s go!" the little one shouted excitedly, seeming to adore the restaurant.
Wu Tian nodded. He couldn’t bear to see his daughter suffer, so he carried her toward King Arthur’s Kitchen.
Just then, a voice ca from behind him. "Oh my, is this the famous King Arthur’s Kitchen of Yang City? It’s so grand."
Wu Tian frowned slightly. He recognized the voice. It belonged to a girl he had known in high school, before his journey to the Immortal Emperor Realm.
Back then, she had ardently pursued him. Unseasoned in the ways of the world, he had been quite touched but only agreed to be her friend. After graduation, however, when he fell on hard tis, she cut him off coldly. He later heard she’d told their old classmates that it was actually he who had chased her, and she had only reluctantly befriended him. At the sa ti, he’d discovered she was fervently pursuing another wealthy heir. That was when he realized that romance required acting. With enough skill, you could even fake being in love. Her ardent pursuit had just been a ploy.
Wu Tian couldn’t help but turn to look.
Sure enough, there was Yu Xiaolu, arm-in-arm with a man as they headed toward King Arthur’s Kitchen. The man sported a slicked-back hairstyle and had the look of a successful person.
This wasn’t the sa wealthy heir she had been chasing back then. It seems she’s... moved on. But there was no denying that the man she was with now was also from a rich family. As Wu Tian observed him, he saw a gaze devoid of intelligence and drive, filled only with an air of frivolity. This was a man with no ambition, content to squander his inheritance.
"It is. This is the top restaurant in Yang City, not a place for just anyone. Even I only co here two or three tis a week," the man beside her boasted. With them was a five- or six-year-old girl, who appeared to be their child. However, Wu Tian was stunned to sense that while the girl’s aura was linked to Yu Xiaolu, it had no connection to the man’s. It looked like this man was being cuckolded.
"Wu Tian? What are you doing here?" Yu Xiaolu said, taken aback when she spotted him.
Wu Tian had seen her true colors long ago and wanted nothing to do with her. Still, out of basic courtesy, he answered calmly, "I’m taking my daughter to lunch."
"Lunch?" Yu Xiaolu retorted instantly. "Are you kidding ? I know you dote on your daughter, but there’s no need to be so pretentious."
This is King Arthur’s Kitchen, the most expensive restaurant in Yang City. She knew Wu Tian’s family background; how could he possibly afford to eat here? A single glass of water here is graded, with the cheapest costing five hundred yuan since it’s sourced from a famous mountain range in Dragon Country! There’s no way he can afford it!
The little girl with Yu Xiaolu seed to have inherited her mother’s disposition. She looked at Gugu in Wu Tian’s arms and said, "Hey, little girl, let
tell you sothing. You’re poor, so you can’t afford anything in here. You should leave now."
Gugu was not happy.
The man’s na was Ou Qing. His father was the deputy general manager of a subsidiary of Qin Corporation, and Ou Qing himself was a departnt head there. He spent most of his days leisurely playing video gas, delegating his actual work to others.
He glanced at Wu Tian, then looked at Yu Xiaolu. "Xiaolu, you know this guy?"
"He used to chase after ," Yu Xiaolu said with disdain.
"I’m Ou Qing," the man announced, puffing out his chest proudly at Wu Tian. "So you’re one of the losers. In the end, they all lost to , and I beca Xiaolu’s husband. We’ve been together for eight years."
Wu Tian couldn’t help but smile. "I’m just glad you were the one who ended up with her."
They’ve been together for eight years, and the child is five or six, yet she isn’t his. What does that imply? Thinking of this, Wu Tian couldn’t help but pity the man.
"What are you laughing at?" Ou Qing asked, confused by Wu Tian’s sudden smile.
You’re asking ? As if I’d tell you.
Ignoring them, Wu Tian carried his daughter into King Arthur’s Kitchen. He walked up to the reception desk, took out the Black Gold Card Lin Zhan had given him, and presented it to the hostess.
The hostess, seeing Wu Tian’s simple clothes, had initially thought he was there to cause trouble. But the mont she saw the Black Gold Card, she stiffened. She imdiately straightened up and bowed respectfully.
She was inwardly shocked. There was only one card like this in all of Yang City. Her boss had warned her that anyone who presented it must be treated with the utmost care, like an ancestor.
"Please, follow ," the hostess said respectfully.
Wu Tian nodded and followed her, still carrying the little one.
Ou Qing, Yu Xiaolu, and their daughter, who had followed them inside, were all dumbfounded.
"What’s going on?" Yu Xiaolu asked Ou Qing. "Is the staff here always this welcoming?"
How is that possible?
Ou Qing shook his head. "The owner of King Arthur’s Kitchen isn’t from one of Yang City’s Four Great Families, but from a prominent overseas family. Besides, the hostesses here are a cut above the rest—we’re talking multilingual graduates from prestigious universities. There’s no reason for them to be that subservient to a regular custor."
Their daughter, Ou Xiaoi, grew jealous. She gritted her teeth and whined, "Dad, didn’t you say you were a big shot? How co the hostess isn’t paying attention to you? You’re so useless! If you keep this up, I won’t call you ’Dad’ anymore. Uncle Wei is much nicer to ."
Ou Qing quickly tried to comfort her. "Xiaoi, listen. I think that man must be an employee here, like a busboy. The hostess is probably taking him away to be scolded for doing sothing wrong."
Hearing this, Ou Xiaoi instantly cheered up.
