Mind shock was not an ability just anyone could possess. Only a true alpha could wield it. If a mber of a criminal organization was a true alpha, then anyone who stood against them was truly dood.

I couldn’t help but regret that soone so powerful, soone who could have helped fight the vampires, had instead beco a criminal.

But as soone who had been ignored to the point of wanting to leave my pack more than once, I could understand why a person ant to be a leader would end up living as a rogue.

Alpha Blooms continued, "The Witch operates very frequently in the West Region. Green Pack and Black Pack are the two packs most affected by them. They’ve stopped actively hunting the organization and are focusing on defense instead..."

He spoke as if there were nothing strange about what he’d just said. Truly Oliver’s father. Like father, like son.

anwhile, Noah glanced at . I understood imdiately.

Alpha Blooms had said The Witch mainly targeted corrupt individuals or groups. Then he added that Green and Black Packs were the ones most affected.

Wasn’t he essentially saying that both packs were corrupt?

I couldn’t bla Alpha Blooms. They were corrupt.

After ten minutes of Alpha Blooms talking about The Witch, I ended the short eting.

Alpha Blooms left first, but Noah stayed behind.

"Since Alpha Blooms already brought it up, I’d like to add sothing about The Witch as well," Noah said. "I looked into this after receiving orders to beco deputy of Legion Black. I believe you’d want to know the current state of Black Pack."

I wanted to say that I didn’t care about that pack at all, but I remained silent.

"The Witch seems to have a specific agenda, and that agenda involves Green Pack and Black Pack. Both packs are aware of this and are extrely cautious of The Witch."

"The alphas and their families rarely leave without heavy security. Even for this mission, they didn’t bring their full warrior forces. That said, our security is more than sufficient. You don’t need to worry if The Witch attacks."

I simply nodded. Noah looked slightly confused, but he didn’t press further. After I told him to leave, he exited the eting room.

Perhaps Noah thought I would be worried. In truth, I felt relieved. The Witch was doing a favor by teaching those two families a lesson.

The only thing I feared was Clarissa getting caught in the aftermath.

Once this mission is over, I’ll imdiately station myself in the West Region. I need to see Clarissa’s condition with my own eyes.

Click.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the door opening.

Larry stood there, his hair disheveled, his face rigid. He looked like he had just been in a fight.

I frowned. I knew he wasn’t soone who caused trouble.

"What happened?" I asked sharply.

He took two steps forward, letting the door close behind him. His body suddenly wobbled, and he had to lean against the door just to stay upright.

"What happened?" My voice rose. This was clearly bad.

"Clarissa..."

That single word made my body spring up instinctively. "What about Clarissa? What happened to her?" I demanded.

I rushed toward him. His answer ca in a low, broken voice.

"She’s dead."

My steps froze.

"What did you say?!" I roared, unable to restrain the pressure erupting from my inner wolf. Larry, already devastated, collapsed to his knees.

"Alpha William and Alpha Henry promised they would have everyone in their households apologize to Clarissa and send the recordings," I said, my heart shattering. "Is that what killed her? Were they unhappy with my orders and took it out on Clarissa?!"

Larry lifted his face, filled with grief and guilt.

"No, Commander. Clarissa died four years ago. She was exiled from Green Pack after both her hands and legs were severed, her eyes gouged out, and her tongue cut off."

"Four years ago? Exiled? Hands... legs... eyes... tongue?"

Clarissa.

Her beautiful face, despite the long scar on her cheek. Her bright violet eyes. Her wavy brunette hair. Her courage. Her smile.

Everything replayed vividly in my mind.

Was punishnt in the basent not cruel enough for them, so they did that to her instead...?

A massive weight lodged itself in my chest. A swelling sphere of rage that grew larger by the second.

ROAR!!!

The fury exploded. My body shifted. For a mont, I lost control. Obby howled in rage, unleashing crushing pressure.

Larry was flattened against the floor, unable to lift even a finger.

Still, it wasn’t enough.

Clarissa was dead. Then everyone should die.

Even if I died, I didn’t care. I would follow her.

"Cla... Clarissa..."

I faintly heard Larry’s voice.

What now? Was he going to tell about sothing even worse she endured before dying?

I couldn’t take it. My heart felt shredded. My body burned as if pierced by thousands of needles, despite suffering no physical attack.

"She... she isn’t dead," Larry forced the words out under my overwhelming pressure.

"She isn’t dead?"

My fading consciousness snapped back.

I returned to my original form and stood before him. He remained kneeling, panting.

"Her body was never found. Everyone assud she was dead. Normally, no one could survive being crippled like that. But..."

My heart began pounding violently. A small bud of hope took root.

"There were reports of a woman resembling Clarissa visiting the forr Alpha Brown’s house on the day his family left Brown Pack."

"As for the truth of those reports, it hasn’t been confird. The forr Alpha Brown’s family’s whereabouts are unknown. It’s as if they were deliberately erased by a third party."

"Also," Larry continued, "I chose Clarissa. I’m certain she’s still alive out there. My choices have never been wrong."

He ended with those strange words again.

Even so, I desperately wanted to believe Clarissa was still alive. I had to find her. I had to protect her, the way I should have long ago. I had to—

My thoughts halted when the door burst open, revealing Noah and a group of anxious alphas.

Behind Noah stood Alpha William.

Swoosh!

In an instant, I closed the distance, grabbed the middle-aged man by the throat, and lifted him into the air.

"You think you can walk away after hurting Clarissa?!"
