Chapter 88: Clara’s honesty

Clara trembled, looking at Jerry’s terrifying gaze, even feeling pain in her cheeks from his grip.

"Tell !" Jerry exclaid, pressing Clara’s cheeks harder.

"I... I’ll tell you," Clara whispered fearfully. "But let

go... You’re hurting ..."

Jerry imdiately released his grip on Clara’s cheeks, sighing heavily with a blank stare.

"Now tell the truth!"

"Yes... It’s true," Clara said shortly, averting her gaze. "Everything that happened between Valerie and Damian, it was because of

and I was ordered by Samuel... It was because he wanted Valerie..."

Jerry remained silent, but his breath suddenly caught, as if pained by the confession. In an instant, he rembered how Samuel had asked for his help to keep Valerie hidden, but it turned out it was all because of Samuel, maybe he had already influenced Valerie to always want to stay away from Damian.

"He has wanted Valerie for a long ti, but he has always been considered a friend, and felt unable to compete with Damian. That’s why he used dirty ways to separate them, and coincidentally, he knew that Damian was a bit playboy and easy to seduce, so he asked

to seduce him that night," Clara explained again. "He paid

quite much... So I could go far away after the wedding went awry... But a few days ago, he found

again and asked

to trap Damian because he wanted to make Valerie hate him again," she continued, looking guilty.

"Oh my God..." Jerry sighed, then turned away from Clara and ran his fingers through his hair. He placed his hands on his hips and looked back at Clara with astonishnt. "Why would you do this?"

Clara remained silent, occasionally biting her lower lip.

"The first ti you carried out your mission to separate them, it was sothing... It was sothing crazy because you knew the wedding was already prepared in advance, even their families had co... You destroyed their happiness, then made Valerie struggle with trauma in her heart, in her mind, then pregnant without Damian by her side... Then Damian was confused because he couldn’t find her... You made them both suffer... You made Daniel and Damian not interact like a baby would with his biological father..."

Clara swallowed her saliva, suddenly haunted by Valerie’s image.

"And now... You want to separate them again when they are rebuilding their relationship, building trust... Even they have Daniel. Why would you do such a thing?" Jerry asked with frustration, his face flushing with emotion. "Why would you do that just for money... Just for your interest... Just for your and Samuel’s pleasure... It might be easy to forgive you if what you did didn’t hurt so many people’s hearts, but what you did with Samuel was truly fatal... especially for Daniel... Why would you do this when Valerie is your friend... She considered you her best friend so she made you her Bridesmaid!" he continued angrily, clenching his fists as if wanting to hit sothing.

"Sorry..."

"Oh God!" Jerry ran his hands through his hair in frustration and walked in any direction. "I’ve also made mistakes, why didn’t I think about this earlier? Why? I helped Samuel hide Valerie... I was wrong, I sinned, I was wicked to them!" He seed like he wanted to cry, haunted by the cute face of Daniel and also the sorrow of Damian or Valerie.

Clara was stunned, seeing Jerry now losing control of himself.

"My wife is pregnant and she looks so distressed without ... And that’s what Valerie experienced... I’m sure she felt it but she hid it, then Samuel kept influencing her or maybe badmouthing Damian so she beca even more afraid to co back," Jerry said angrily. "And Damian... He spent his days in chaos, drunk... playing with random girls, raging... Even almost hurting himself... I thought it was deserved for him because I thought he was a bastard so I didn’t want to tell him about Valerie’s whereabouts... But it turns out... It turns out the worst is Samuel!"

Clara remained silent in shock.

"You!" Jerry pointed at Clara with his sharp gaze. "You have to et Valerie and explain everything!"

"I’m not sure... I don’t dare to et her," Clara said anxiously.

Jerry imdiately approached Clara, pointing at her face. "Whatever your reason, you still have to et her!"

"But Jerry..."

"I don’t want exceptions... et her and tell her the truth. You have to get them back together like before... This is not just to justify your actions, but it’s for Daniel!" Jerry exclaid again.

Clara fell silent with worry.

"Damian and Valerie are constantly confused and the victim of all this is Daniel. He’s just a toddler who wants both his parents together and wants to get affection from them fully like other children... You’ve been a child before... You must have felt it, you want the happiness you get from both your parents... That’s what Daniel feels right now," Jerry explained with a sad gaze, hoping Clara could lt.

"I’m scared..." Clara walked towards the sofa and sat down imdiately.

Jerry imdiately followed Clara sat on another sofa and continued to stare at her seriously, guessing what still made her afraid.

"Are you afraid Samuel will be angry with you and maybe do sothing bad to you?" he asked.

Clara just nodded.

"You don’t need to worry, I’ll guarantee your safety after this..."

"How... How will you guarantee my safety when you work for Damian?" Clara asked nervously. "I’m sure after I tell all this, Damian will be even more angry and won’t let

go... He’ll hold a grudge against ... Maybe I’ll end up in jail, or..."

"He won’t do that." Jerry interrupted Clara. "He’ll let you go, go far wherever you want... He’ll be grateful because your honesty can bring him back to Valerie... Don’t be afraid, and don’t imagine the worst!"

Clara fell silent, still seeming hesitant.

Jerry saw the check and his pulse still in his left hand since earlier, then wrote the amount there and gave it to Clara.

"I told you when you’re honest you’ll get a lot of money," he said.

Clara glanced at the check on her lap, which was written one million dollars.

"Take the money... Maybe Damian will give more after this," Jerry exclaid. "And surely your life will be more comfortable... He won’t hate you and maybe you won’t be haunted by guilt constantly... Maybe you can be friends with Valerie again..."

Clara took the check, but not a word ca out of her mouth. What was she thinking?
