Chapter 30: Adriana’s anger at Valeri
Upon arriving at her parents’ ho, Valerie exited the car carrying the sleeping Daniel. She walked towards the front door and saw Adriana and her mother sitting casually on chairs on the terrace.
"What happened to you, Samuel?" Dana asked, standing up as Samuel approached.
"Nothing, just a small disagreent... with Damian," Samuel replied with a faint smile.
"You must have fought... with Damian," Adriana stated, disapprovingly.
"It’s nothing... Besides, it was my fault," Samuel responded.
Valerie remained silent, continuing to walk towards the house, but Adriana followed her imdiately.
"You should go inside," Dana suggested.
Samuel nodded, following Dana to the living room. He encountered Hannah, who was drinking coffee but stood up upon realizing his presence.
"Samuel," greeted Hannah.
"Hannah, you should treat Samuel’s wounds. I’ll get the first aid kit," Dana said, entering another room, presumably her bedroom.
Hannah quickly sat next to Samuel, looking at him with sympathy, grimacing as if feeling the pain of his bruises.
"Who did this to you?" she asked.
"None of your business!" Samuel replied curtly.
Hannah furrowed her brow instantly, not expecting such a brusque response from Samuel, who usually treated her warmly.
Samuel turned his face away, leaning on his elbows on his thighs, slightly hunched over, staring straight ahead as if contemplating sothing.
"This is very bad; I won’t be able to make Valerie love
if we don’t have ti alone. There’s always her sister, her mother, and even Hannah, Daniel.,." he thought with a frustrated gaze. Hmm, even if I have the opportunity, Valerie might not want to be intimate with ; I’m a traitor!
Adriana observed Valerie putting Daniel to sleep, covering him with a blanket, and placing a pillow on each side. She then sat, continuously watching her younger sister, who turned to look at her.
"I need to tend to Samuel," Valerie stated.
"You should have told
first," Adriana said with a stern gaze, asserting her role as an older sister.
Valerie sighed. "What should I tell?"
"There must be a reason why Damian attacked Samuel."
"He’s always like that, he doesn’t like
and Daniel being with Samuel." Valerie tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and walked towards the coat rack.
Adriana furrowed her brow, following Valerie, and imdiately grabbed her hand, noticing the ring on her ring finger.
"What is this ring?" she asked.
Valerie quickly pulled her hand away. "I don’t need to always tell you!" she exclaid, distancing herself from Adriana.
"Valerie!" Adriana firmly gripped Valerie’s hand, making her face her again. "Please don’t make
angry. From now on, you have to be open with . I don’t want you making mistakes again just because you rely on your emotions and are assisted by soone who doesn’t know what’s best for you!" She emphasized.
Valerie exhaled sharply, looking at Adriana with resignation.
"I have no choice; today I accepted Samuel’s proposal," she said.
Adriana widened her eyes instantly, as if not expecting Valerie to make such a decision so quickly.
"That’s my choice," Valerie added.
Adriana squinted her eyes, looking at Valerie in astonishnt. "Are you crazy? Why would you make such a decision so quickly when you just ca back and introduced Daniel to Damian? What’s your goal? Are you doing this to hurt him?"
Valerie fell silent, her eyes unwilling to et Adriana’s gaze.
"Now I understand why Damian was so angry and imdiately attacked Samuel. It’s all because of you... You and Samuel seem like real traitors... I don’t understand..." Adriana shook her head and slightly distanced herself from Valerie. "My sister, I don’t know what you’re thinking... Damian was indeed wrong for betraying you that day, but he only made that mistake that day, and you imdiately retaliated by embarrassing his family, our family too... You don’t know how the situation was after you left, do you? So why now, are you accepting Samuel as if you don’t care about Damian’s feelings, you don’t care about his family, our family? Why are you choosing to accept Samuel so quickly? Don’t you want to make ands first?" she wondered with astonishnt.
Valerie imdiately covered her ears briefly and looked at Adriana with frustration.
"Are you blaming
now? I told you, this all started because of Damian!" she said angrily. "You can say that easily because you didn’t feel what I felt that day! I did want to co back, but I was afraid; I realized my mistake, especially when I was pregnant at that ti... I was pregnant before marriage, isn’t that sothing considered very wrong in our family?"
"Okay, I won’t bla you for that!" Adriana nodded her head. "You and Damian made mistakes, and it greatly hard our family, his family too. But you have to think about the future, and of course, the past will always stick with you, so you can’t choose a man still connected to that past if you want a peaceful life and be free from Damian!"
Valerie furrowed her brow, as if not understanding what Adriana ant.
Adriana sighed heavily, then leaned against the wall while glancing at the sleeping Daniel.
"I hope you co back to Damian, forgive his mistake, and give him a chance to be a good husband and father... Consider it not to make him happy or make yourself look defeated, but do it for Daniel," she said disappointedly. "But why did you choose Samuel, who is wicked and disloyal as a friend..."
"He’s not wicked, and he’s a loyal friend. That’s why he let
hide," Valerie replied.
"How can you call him not wicked? Is it because he sided with you? Continuing your wrong attitude?" Adriana asked. "You don’t know how difficult it was for
to face the days after you left? You can bla Damian, but what do you think our family deserves to suffer because you want to soothe yourself? What did we do wrong that you would do that to us? Several tis Damian’s family ca, looking for you, seeking clarity about the marriage plan... They often got angry at Mom, and at that ti, Dad had returned to the sea. Mom got sick from constant stress, especially as she had to answer so many questions from neighbors about your ssed-up marriage with Damian! I wanted Damian to co and provide clarification, but he disappeared sowhere, and I didn’t know where to find you either. Maybe Samuel knows how difficult those days were for us, but he pretended not to know where you were. That already shows that he is a cruel man, he was willing to let us all suffer just to continue hiding you... How can you call him good? If he’s really good, then he should have advised you to co back, and we could solve your problem with Damian together so that you wouldn’t be afraid of his family!" she erupted again, while Valerie just bowed her head, seemingly realizing her mistake.
