Chapter 167: Can’t run from Samuel

Tristan and Karina had just arrived at the apartnt and imdiately rested in their room. The man looked sympathetically at his wife, who appeared gloomy and slumped against a pile of pillows, reminding him of how stressed she had been facing those who demanded she take responsibility for her mistakes.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"Yes..." Karina smiled with a brave look in her eyes. "Don’t worry about , you’ve been a trendous help."

Tristan smiled and then sat on the edge of the bed, holding Karina’s calf and gently massaging it.

"It’s not sothing we always have to talk about because it’s my responsibility as your husband," he said. "As long as you’re willing to try to do better, I’ll do anything for you..."

"And this is for our child," Karina whispered.

"Of course..."

Tristan reached out to touch Karina’s belly.

"Three months to go... We’ll et her."

"I hope I won’t give birth to her in prison," Karina said anxiously.

Imdiately, Tristan frowned. "Why would you say that? You won’t go to jail... Our issue is resolved, and it can never be brought up again because Hannah, Valeri, or Damian have agreed to reconcile with us... They’ve even signed it on stamped paper... In front of the police and lawyers..."

"I’m just afraid," Karina whispered, her face downturned.

"What are you afraid of?"

"We made the decision without Samuel’s knowledge, and Samuel is the father of the baby," Karina explained anxiously. "Honestly, that’s what still scares

now... All I know about him is, Samuel isn’t a man who easily accepts reality. In calmness, he can seek revenge and do crazy things... It’s exactly like my character... It scares

a lot."

Tristan sighed. "I know, but don’t worry about that. As you saw when I fought for your freedom in front of them all, Damian, and the others... I will also fight for your freedom if Samuel cos after you... Just... Don’t worry."

Karina nodded, although her fear hadn’t completely dissipated.

"Now what do you want? Food or snacks or drinks?" Tristan wondered.

Karina shook her head. "I don’t want anything."

"Okay, but I’ll make juice and lunch for you," Tristan said, standing up and leaning toward Karina, kissing her lips briefly. "Just wait... I’ll be back soon," he whispered.

Karina just smiled, letting Tristan go. She shifted her position, staring at the wall while pondering what had happened that day.

"Yeah... I should stop wanting Damian. After all, he’s cruel to ... only Tristan is the best... Even though sotis I find his behavior amusing," she said listlessly, as if she had no spirit at all. Hmm, maybe that’s what it feels like to have a husband you don’t love.

...

Just as he was about to enter the kitchen, Tristan’s attention was drawn to the doorbell. He frowned and walked towards the front door, then opened it.

He imdiately sighed nervously when he saw that it was Samuel accompanied by the police, who were different from the police who had previously co to Damian’s mansion.

"I need to see your wife," Samuel said with a flat look.

Tristan fell silent, then gestured to sit on the living room sofa, then he sat on another sofa.

"Call your wife, I have sothing to discuss with her, not with you," Samuel said again.

"She is my wife, and her business is my business," Tristan replied with a flat look, although he felt anxious. "So, you can talk to

now..."

"I just want her, not you!"

"But she’s resting... I won’t let her feel disturbed... She’s pregnant!" Tristan asserted, looking at Samuel with annoyance.

Samuel smirked thinly, averting his gaze.

"So, your wife deserves rest because she’s pregnant? What about my ex-wife?" He asked, turning to look at Tristan again. "At that ti, she also deserved to rest, taking care of her pregnancy... But what did your wife do... I think you already know the answer without

explaining!"

Tristan sighed heavily, gritting his teeth.

"As the father of the baby, I strongly disapprove if your wife gets freedom just like that after what she did to my wife!" Samuel explained firmly.

Tristan imdiately shook his head. "We highly appreciate you as the father of the baby... But the decision has been made by Hannah as the mother of the baby, and she’s also a victim... Okay? She wants Karina to get parole. So, it can’t be changed anymore!"

"The decisions you made are not valid because they didn’t involve

as the father of the baby!" Samuel exclaid as he stood up. "Now I want your deceitful wife to rot in jail!"

"Hey!" Tristan imdiately stood up with an angry look. "You can’t do that!"

"I can!"

"But the decision has been agreed upon and even signed by the police chief, lawyers, Damian, and even Hannah! I can show you the letter..."

"No need!" Samuel interrupted before Tristan could leave. "I don’t need that evidence. All agreents and decisions you’ve made are invalid without my consent! Isn’t that right?" He asked, turning to the police who had been listening to his conversation with Tristan.

The police imdiately stood up.

"What Samuel said is true. Although his status is Hannah’s ex-husband, he still has the right to seek justice for his deceased child," he said calmly.

Tristan fell silent with disappointnt, even fear.

"It’s better if your wife goes through the legal process as determined, and maybe you can ask your lawyer to defend her," the police said again.

"Sir... But my wife is heavily pregnant," Tristan replied anxiously, his eyes showing clear sadness. "I can’t let her go to jail... How will she sleep there with her big belly? She needs a comfortable place and healthy food... How can you do that to her?"

"Sorry, that’s beyond our policy... If you don’t want her to go through all of that, you better start a defense imdiately... The police will proceed and determine whether your wife can get parole or leniency," the police replied.

"The law still applies, I won’t let a murderer live freely just like that!" Samuel said sternly.

Tristan imdiately lunged at him and grabbed his shirt, glaring at him sharply.

"You bastard, you even... You fucking heartless!" he exclaid.

"Your wife is more heartless!" Samuel retorted, raising his voice. "She started it all... She should be held accountable!"

Unable to contain his hatred and frustration any longer, Tristan imdiately punched Samuel in the face and threw him down onto the couch.

"You bastard, you don’t see yourself!" he shouted in anger, his breath even ragged. "How could you do this when you got away because of Valeri’s and Damian’s rcy!"

"Sir, do not use violence or you will face punishnt!" The police imdiately grabbed Tristan’s arm.

Samuel sat back up and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth while looking at Tristan with such ambition.

"That’s a different context... You can’t equate my case with your wife’s case!" he said.

"Tristan..."

A woman’s voice from another room diverted their attention.

"Karina," Tristan whispered, catching sight of Karina’s anxious gaze as she just arrived. ’No ... She must not go to jail!’

"Sir, that cunning woman deserves punishnt!" Samuel exclaid, pointing at Karina.

Tristan imdiately widened his eyes and was about to hit Samuel, but the police still held onto his arm.

"You bastard, don’t you see she’s heavily pregnant?" he asked loudly.

"I know ... But that’s not a reason for her not to be punished!" Samuel replied angrily. "She’s not only causing trouble for Hannah but also Damian and Valerie. I’ve known her wrongdoing all along ... She always gets forgiveness from Damian and Valerie, but she can’t stop. And now I can’t let her go free because her actions have cost

my firstborn son!"

"Samuel, you can’t..."

"Enough!" Karina interjected, her eyes welling up as she approached them.

Tristan sighed, looking at Karina with concern, afraid of what she would do next.

"You don’t need to defend

anymore ... I am indeed guilty, and I deserve punishnt," Karina said.

"Darling..." Tristan shook his head, and the police slowly released their grip on his arm.

"It’s okay ... I will be fine," Karina whispered, then reached out her hands to the police. "Take

to jail now ... Don’t hurt my husband," she continued.

"Karina ... What are you doing?" Tristan pulled Karina’s hand away from the police and looked at her angrily. "You can’t go to jail!"

"There’s no other way ... Besides, what will you do?" Karina asked with resignation in her eyes. "You’ll try to take

away from here, but it’s highly unlikely ... I won’t be able to escape ... And I shouldn’t escape after the suffering they’ve endured," she continued.

"Exactly what she said it’s true... she indeed doesn’t deserve to be free!" Samuel exclaid, heating the atmosphere again.

Tristan imdiately glared at him with hatred, while Karina reached out her hand to the police again, as if she had lost the courage to try to escape punishnt.
