Chapter 165: Their anger
Valerie heard the commotion outside, imdiately got up from the bed, and hurriedly left the room.
She was so shocked to find Damian so angry, about to hit Karina, but Tristan stopped him.
"How could you do this? What do you want? Why can’t you stop disrupting my life?" Damian asked, his eyes wide with disbelief, trying to approach Karina but Tristan held him back by embracing him. "Let go of , I need to teach her a lesson, she’s a snake!"
"Damian, control yourself!" Tristan exclaid angrily.
"She’s a killer, she’s a killer!"
"Damian!" Tristan exerted all his strength to push Damian until he fell onto the couch. He panted, looking at the man with annoyance. "I know she’s evil, but she’s not anymore... And we ca here to settle everything!"
Damian sighed heavily, overwheld by emotions, then quickly stood up again, glaring sharply at Tristan, suddenly rembering how he beca a deceiver by orchestrating Daniel’s kidnapping scenario and then turned into a savior almost snatching Valerie away from him.
"Please... We ca to admit all of that and it’s all to beg for peace!" Tristan reaffird.
"Do you think I can make peace with you? Do you think your wife’s cris can be forgiven? Don’t you know, Hannah lost her baby... It’s sothing so painful and unforgivable!" Damian clenched his fists, occasionally pointing at Karina. "She deserves punishnt... It seems like a snake woman will never change... She’ll continue to be malicious towards
or Valerie because she doesn’t want us to be happy!"
"Damian..." Tristan gritted his teeth while clenching his fists. "I know... I know you would think so, but this ti, trust ... We ca to apologize... I’ll guarantee she won’t harm you again... I will!" he affird while patting his chest.
Damian fell silent, realizing Valerie’s arrival as she hugged his arm. He looked at Karina, recalling all her cunning, making it hard for him to trust her again, especially when it involved Hannah’s baby’s death.
"Valerie," Tristan murmured with a worried look, seeing Valerie so disappointed, her eyes starting to well up. "Forgive Karina... Forgive , I couldn’t be a good husband to her so she still tries to ss up your life with Damian," he continued with regret.
"That’s because you’re stupid!" Damian retorted.
"I know..."
"You should’ve been able to control her... You should’ve been able to restrain her so she wouldn’t go crazy again!" Damian exclaid, occasionally glancing at Karina who only hung her head, afraid to show her face. "And now? You want peace... Everything is not as simple as before!"
Karina pondered, biting her lower lip, truly unable to face them, feeling ashad and angry dominating her heart, making her want to leave but unable to.
"Look at her... She doesn’t apologize at all, how can we forgive her and then open the door to peace?" Damian asked, pointing at Karina.
"Damian, not saying sorry doesn’t an not realizing her mistake... But she lacks courage!" Tristan retorted with frustration. "She’s ashad and scared... She’s also under a lot of pressure, especially now that she’s pregnant!"
"Oh, do you want
to pity her?" Damian raised his eyebrows. "What about Hannah? She’s more pitiful... She lost her baby... That’s sothing irreparable... Whatever you do will never bring it back!"
"I know... I won’t be able to bring it back... It’s beyond my capability..." Tristan said nervously, then bit his lower lip and turned to Karina. "I just want to convey her apology and regret... She’s truly sorry," he added, looking back at Valerie and Damian.
"She should be the one to say it, not you... She shouldn’t always use you as her shield," Valerie whispered with a disappointed look, then sat down but kept looking at Karina. "As difficult as her situation may be now, she must still show her responsibility as soone who’s at fault... If she keeps getting your help, she’ll keep being evil, and envious... She won’t have fear because she’s used to getting your help... It may seem ordinary but it can be bad for our future, and the peace agreent will feel worthless," she continued.
Tristan fell silent, feeling what Valerie said made sense.
"I actually really want to punish her... But I realize I’m not the real victim, I don’t feel any loss at all... But Hannah... She’s the real victim. She’s the one who deserves to punish her or not," Damian said with his ambitious gaze. "Apologize to her, not to us..."
"And there should be a written agreent to ensure she won’t do bad things to us again," Valerie replied with a serious look at Karina. "I can’t trust her anymore... I don’t want to take the risk!"
Tristan sighed, then nodded his head. "I will..."
"Not you!" Damian exclaid.
Valerie sighed, feeling disgusted by this noise, making her stand up imdiately.
"I’ll call Hannah," she said, then walked out of the living room.
Damian imdiately followed Valerie, while Karina and Tristan remained there.
"Let’s just go ho," Karina said, looking up, staring at Tristan with her eyes already wet with tears. "I know I’m wrong, but I can’t face this... It’s like bullying... It’s too terrible!"
Tristan sat down imdiately, looking at Karina with pity, but also a little annoyed.
"Hold on for a mont... We need to settle everything... After that, we’ll go back to Washington... we don’t need to deal with them anymore," he said gently.
"But what if they won’t forgive , even worse, they’ll punish ?" Karina asked, afraid. "Even Valerie looks like she really hates ..."
"Of course, she does... She’s disappointed... you have to understand, what you did was sothing fatal... Now it’s a very valuable lesson for you... You have to understand, that not everyone can forgive us even if we show regret," Tristan said with disappointnt. "Now I’m trying to free you... But... You also have to try... You have to fight your fear and sha, your pride... You have to apologize... That’s the only way!" he continued earnestly.
Karina just stayed silent, truly overwheld, imagining having to beg those she despised.
"Listen to ..." Tristan grabbed Karina’s right hand and held it. "Get rid of your hatred... Let go of all the burdens in your heart and mind... Say sorry... Say regret... say what you feel now to them... Make them believe that you won’t deceive them again."
Karina sighed, looking into Tristan’s eyes showing his spirit and genuine smile.
"Do it for ... For our child... You don’t want to give birth in jail, right?" Tristan asked.
Karina just nodded.
"I’ve contacted my lawyer and also the police..."
Damian’s voice caught Tristan and Karina’s attention imdiately, making them frightened.
"Police?" Karina looked at Tristan trembling. "He wants to imprison !"
Tristan shook his head.
"No, that won’t happen!"
"But..."
"Trust ...Whatever Damian will do, you won’t go to prison!"
