Chapter 157: Suspect

At 10 in the morning...

Hannah left her room looking elegant in a knee-length blue dress with sleeves covering her wrists, carrying a vanilla-colored bag with a small doll charm on the clasp, and wearing blue short heels. She walked towards the terrace, glancing towards the gatehouse far away.

"Hans isn’t there. Where is he?" she wondered, then turned to the garage where Jimmy was checking the car engine.

She imdiately approached him.

"Hannah, do you want

to take you sowhere?" Jimmy asked without looking at Hannah.

"Um... I just want to be with Hans... I happen to have other plans with him," Hannah replied, sowhat nervously.

Jimmy smiled and turned to Hannah.

"Just say you want to ask him out for a date."

"No..." Hannah blushed. "That never crossed my mind... Please tell

where he is now?"

"Didn’t you call him?"

"Call?" Hannah frowned. "I didn’t think to call him because I thought he was at the guard post or here with you. But I’ll call him." She imdiately took her phone from her bag and dialed Hans.

Jimmy went back to inspecting the black Jeep’s engine.

"Oh, his number is inactive," Hannah said anxiously.

"You should check his room," Jimmy replied without looking up. "It seems he hasn’t co out since earlier, not even for breakfast," he continued.

Feeling worried, Hannah rushed back into the mansion until she reached the deserted living room. She turned down the hallway lined with several rooms until she stopped in front of one room and quickly turned the doorknob.

"Not locked," she muttered, then pushed the door open.

She saw Hans curled up on the bed, his body almost entirely covered by a blue blanket, with only his head visible.

"Hans..." She approached him with a concerned look.

Hans imdiately shifted on the bed, opening the blanket to his stomach.

"Hannah..." He sat up slowly, leaning against the headboard and pillows. "You’re here... Um... Sorry... I look ssy... I’m feeling unwell." He said nervously, smiling shyly.

"You didn’t tell , and your number couldn’t be reached," Hannah replied with a frown.

"Sorry, I just wanted to rest... I didn’t think about my phone at all." Hans glanced around until he found his phone near his feet. "Oh, there it is..." He quickly grabbed his phone, and then looked back at Hannah with a shy smile.

Hannah couldn’t bear to see Hans’ pale and ssy, especially his hair.

"Um... You probably haven’t had breakfast. I’ll get you so food, and I’ll also call the doctor," she said.

"No... Please don’t." Hans shook his head.

"Why don’t you want to? Don’t you want to get better?"

"It’s not that... I just don’t want you to call the doctor. I think I just need breakfast and so pain and fever dication... I’ll get better after that," Hans explained anxiously. "Please never call the doctor."

"Okay... But why don’t you want the doctor?" Hannah asked, continuing to stare at Hans. "You look so weak... If the doctor cos and gives you intravenous fluids... Plus pain and fever dication, you won’t feel weak anymore."

"No no no... I don’t want that."

"Or perhaps you’re afraid of needles?" Hannah looked at him suspiciously.

Hans imdiately smiled, his face turning away.

"I got it!" Hannah burst into laughter. "You’re afraid of needles!"

Hans smiled shyly, occasionally looking down as if he didn’t want Hannah to see his disheveled face.

"You have a big body and your profession could be considered as a bodyguard but you’re afraid of needles... If Damian knew about this, he would fire you!" Hannah exclaid in her laughter.

"No, he won’t fire , and he can’t fire . I really like working here..." Hans shook his head with a sad face. "Here, I work but I’m also treated like family, with such a high salary... And... And I like it because you’re also here."

Hannah smiled, furrowing her brows, feeling sowhat strange with Hans’ words.

"You like

here? Um... That’s... That’s sothing..." She couldn’t finish her sentence, not wanting to be too confident by thinking that Hans liked her, so she shifted her gaze to the table near the bed where there was a small frad photo. "This photo..."

She imdiately took a photo showing herself with Hans and Daniel in Turkey, right before boarding the hot air balloon.

"You displayed this photo," she said, suddenly feeling special to Hans.

"Uh... yeah... I intentionally displayed that photo... so I can ease my longing for you," Hans replied with a shy smile. ’what is this? Do I have to confess now? In such a sick and ugly state? I haven’t even brushed my teeth! No no, I can’t say it now, what if she accepts , I won’t be able to kiss her because my mouth might not be fresh... No no... She will feel disgusting!’ he struggled with himself in his heart.

"So, you always miss ?"

Hannah put the photo back down.

"Yes... because you suddenly left when we had plans to spend ti together on the weekend after coming back here," Hans explained with a thin smile, then reached out to take the photo. "I was very sad at that ti, especially since I couldn’t contact you at all. Of course, I miss you... Because before, we were always together..."

"So, you miss

because we were always together before?" Hannah confird.

Hans shrugged. "Of course... longing is created because there was previously companionship. Doesn’t that make sense?"

"Yes, that’s true." Hannah nodded and stood up. "I’ll prepare so food for you, and I’ll ask Jimmy to buy dicine."

"Yes... thank you."

Hannah quickly left the room feeling disappointed. ’he misses

because we used to be together, not because he wants to always be with

because he loves . I shouldn’t expect too much... I’m just a forr babysitter and once married to an evil man, how could he possibly love ? He probably wants soone better.’

...

Washington DC

Karina watched Tristan packing their clothes in the white dressing room, putting them into a large black suitcase, while she put so of her favorite accessories into a small red suitcase.

"I don’t understand why you want to stay there for so long," Tristan muttered.

"Because I like it there," Karina replied without looking.

"Um... Is it because Damian is there?"

"Hey..."

Karina imdiately furrowed her brows, surprised that Tristan suddenly brought up Damian.

"What did you say? Haven’t you seen that I’ve accepted you as my husband, and we’re going to have a baby..." She asked, shrugging. "Then why do you think I like it there because of Damian?"

Tristan imdiately lowered his gaze, not saying anything.

"Please don’t always think negatively," Karina said with a sad look. "I couldn’t possibly want him when I’m already very satisfied with how you treat ... Besides, he also has Valerie... He loves Valerie... why would I still want him?"

"I was just guessing, but you imdiately defended yourself," Tristan said with a disappointed look. "It’s as if you really like it there because of him."

"Oh my Goodness," Karina sighed heavily before walking out of the dressing room towards the bedroom. "You start making a problem!"

Tristan glanced at the clothes already in the suitcase, then lazily closed it. He walked to the bedroom and found Karina sitting on the couch, tearing sothing apart, so he approached her imdiately.

"Hey, what are you doing? Why are you tearing up our tickets?" He asked, grabbing the shreds of paper. "Are you insane..." He tossed them onto the table, realizing they were now unusable.

"It’s better if we’re not to go there than for you to keep distrusting ," Karina said with a flat look.

"I trust you!" Tristan quickly sat beside Karina.

"If you trusted , you wouldn’t say that, or accuse

of defending myself as if I really wanted it," Karina said sadly. "That’s a cruel accusation... it shows that you don’t trust ... You’re being suspicious... You don’t appreciate my efforts to stop wanting it and switch to accepting you all this ti."

Tristan fell silent, feeling guilty now that Karina was crying.

"Now that it’s really more comfortable with you, you still don’t trust ," Karina said again.

"I trust you..." Tristan reached for Karina’s hand with his right hand while wiping away her tears with his left hand. "Sorry... I didn’t an to disappoint you... I don’t have ill intentions."

"Then why say that?" Karina asked, annoyed.

"Because I don’t want to lose you... I don’t want you to go back on the wrong path by chasing sothing that belongs to soone else," Tristan explained, looking deeply into Karina’s eyes. "I just want you to focus on us... You’ll be a mother soon. I don’t want you busy thinking about those who can’t accept your love... Just think about

and our child and our family who love you."

Karina sighed, then hugged Tristan, resting her chin on his shoulder.

"Don’t worry, I won’t do crazy things like before. I’m already very satisfied with having you... you’re better than Damian."
