Chapter 139: Honesty

After several hours of traveling by plane, Hans finally arrived in Arizona, specifically in the city of Phoenix. He imdiately headed to Hannah’s rented house, but upon arrival, he hesitated to knock on the door or ring the bell.

"I won’t discuss our previous closeness... No... I’ll just carry out my task to bring her to Damian," he said firmly before pressing the doorbell.

Hannah, who was sleeping on the living room sofa, woke up instantly upon hearing the doorbell.

"Who else is coming, is it the police? Or could it be Samuel? Or perhaps it’s the mysterious man who always gives

food?" She wondered, then quickly got up and walked to the door with curiosity, then opened it.

The woman was startled and fell silent with her mouth slightly open when she saw that the guest was Hans, instantly feeling guilty for leaving him without saying goodbye and also worried that he might be there at Damian’s request, as Damian must have known she was the one freeing Samuel.

"Hey," greeted Hans with a flat look.

"Hey..." Hannah imdiately swallowed nervously. "Um... Long ti no see..."

"I ca to carry out a task from Mr. Damian McCourtney," explained Hans, his gaze flat but he was observing Hannah’s slightly pale and chubby appearance. ’so she lives in this house with Samuel? If that’s the case, she should never have given

the chance to get close to her,’ he thought disappointedly.

"Why do I have to et him?" Hannah asked with an anxious look.

"I think you already know the reason... I believe the police have inford you about what happened to him."

"Yes..."

"He just wants your honesty... And you shouldn’t be afraid if you truly have no bad intentions towards him," Hans said again. "If you avoid him, your fate might be the sa as Samuel’s... So whether you like it or not, you have to face him. He’s waiting for you at the hospital," he continued.

Hannah fell silent, her face downturned, her chest feeling tight and her body trembling, imagining Damian’s reaction when he saw her later. The shadow of Damian, who easily loses his temper and is so stubborn, makes her afraid of receiving a blow, especially since she is also very embarrassed to et Valerie, who already trusts her so much.

"No..."

Slowly, she stepped back into the living room and sat on the sofa, then started crying.

Hans imdiately entered and sat on another sofa, seeing the girl crying but not attempting to comfort her.

’Nevertheless, I need to know her explanation, and I won’t help her because who knows if she has bad intentions,’ he thought, still filled with disappointnt.

Suddenly his phone rang, Hans took it from his black jacket pocket and saw an incoming call from Valerie then answered it.

"Ma’am?"

"Have you arrived in Arizona?" Valerie asked from the phone.

"Yes, I’m with Hannah now."

"How is she? Is she trying to run away?"

"No... She’s not... I promise to bring her to you tonight so don’t worry."

"Don’t be harsh on her, I’m sure she has her reasons," Valerie smartly said with her calm voice.

"Alright, I’ll talk to her."

The call ended, Hans looked back at Hannah who had been watching him curiously, wondering what he was talking about with Valerie.

"She’s eager to et you and hear your explanation," he said.

Hannah quickly wiped her tears.

"I don’t think I can bear to face her again," she said, holding back her tears. "I’ve been so wrong and stupid and almost got her husband killed. I’m not ready to see her," she continued.

"You don’t need to be afraid if you truly never had ill intentions towards them... Explain everything without resorting to lies... Don’t disappoint them even more," Hans replied anxiously, unable to control his curiosity any longer. "Honestly, I need an explanation from you too... Why did you suddenly leave, and resign... Didn’t even say goodbye to

even though we promised to spend ti together."

Hannah cried again with her head bowed.

"I was so disappointed because I ca and didn’t find you anymore, then couldn’t contact you anymore... And I was even more disappointed when I found out that you were the one who freed Samuel," Hans said again with his sad tone. "Did you do this because you’re a player? Or is there sothing that made you have to free him?" He wondered.

Hannah remained silent, restless, and confused, feeling ashad to explain her true condition.

"If you can be honest now, maybe I can help you when you explain to Valeri and Damian," Hans said again. "But if you continue like this, I’ll think that..."

"I’m pregnant," Hannah interjected before Hans finished his sentence.

Hans imdiately fell silent in surprise, and his eyes imdiately lowered to Hannah’s stomach, still covered by her clothes. He was truly surprised because there was a baby there and Hannah never seed to be dating Samuel, making him wonder when they had sex since she had always been busy with Daniel, helping Valeri.

"You probably wouldn’t expect it," Hannah said with a thin smile. "I didn’t even think this would happen..."

"This is very surprising to ."

"I had a relationship with him secretly, behind Valerie’s back, right when he was rejected by her. I knew I was probably just a rebound at that ti... But I still gave myself to him because I’ve liked him for a long ti... Ever since I worked as Daniel’s caregiver," Hannah explained softly. "But one day I found out that he was the reason Valeri and Damian failed to get married... I saw all his ugliness exposed... Saw him again committing his evil deeds by kidnapping Daniel and Valerie and beating Damian... It all made

feel so stupid for ever loving him... Eventually, I ended our relationship without telling Valeri or anyone... Because to , being known to have a relationship with him is very embarrassing..."

"But you still freed him."

"I was pregnant at that ti and I was very confused... I was ashad to admit it to Valerie, let alone admit that this is Samuel’s child... I didn’t want her to know until I finally chose to resign from my job... And coincidentally she and her husband gave

a lot of money, so the idea arose to free Samuel because I thought I would need him, he’s also the father of this baby... And I’m not close enough to my family so I didn’t have the courage to go back to them either especially in this pregnant condition. Finally we got married, I tried to love him again even though I couldn’t fully trust him," Hannah explained again, then shook her head while wiping her tears. "But recent events made

regret because I used Damian and Valerie’s money to free him... In the end, I had nothing left and he hard Damian again. It’s so embarrassing... Now you know how stupid I am, right?" She asked with a thin smile, mocking herself.

Hans bit his lower lip, looking at Hannah with pity, because she had no one to rely on, because Samuel, who was her hope, never changed.

"Maybe Damian will punish

after this, maybe he will mock ... Even Valerie... I am indeed shaful, I am very stupid, I cannot handle my own life!" Hannah said with frustration, unable to control her tears anymore.

Hans quickly stood up and approached her, then bent down to hug her.

"Don’t keep blaming yourself," he said.

Hannah continued to cry, haunted by guilt and also disgusted with herself for always being deceived by Samuel.

"Now that I know everything, I will help you explain everything to Valeri and Damian," Hans said, releasing his embrace, then wiping Hannah’s tears and smiling. "I promise... I’ll help you."

Hannah remained silent, but slowly nodded and looked deeply into Hans’s handso face, his neat appearance, and his gentle deanor, as if it brought her back to hoping to be with him as she had planned before.

’But could he ever accept ? No, I shouldn’t hope for that... maybe his kindness now is purely because he is good and sympathetic towards ... I’m not worthy of him... I mustn’t be selfish.. He deserves better.’

"Now rest, I’ll rest too before we return to the airport to fly to Carson City," Hans said, returning to his previous seat on the sofa.

"I’ll just get ready," Hannah replied, then got up and walked towards her room.

Hans sighed with relief, watching Hannah slowly disappear from his sight.

’She’s pregnant... This will be a problem... I have to postpone my intention to propose to her... She needs ti to calm herself down,’ he thought anxiously.

...

Samuel walked across the pedestrian area with his head slightly bowed, wearing his black Hoodie, even wearing a mask so no one would recognize him.

"He’s a fugitive, a dangerous man... If you happen to see him around here, imdiately contact the police," a man said, handing a piece of paper to two girls.

After that, the man proceeded to paste the paper onto a pole, right near Samuel who was stopped and pretending to play with his phone.

"You’re really causing us trouble," he said irritably, looking at the photo of Samuel’s face on the paper.

Samuel remained silent and glanced at the paper after the man left.

"It seems I have to leave this town by land or even by sea, this area is no longer safe and people might start hunting

down!"
