Chapter 129: a shock

One week passed.

Valerie was in the bathroom, looking at the row of pregnancy tests displaying results. There were 8 in total, each from a different brand, ranging from small, dium, and square, all of which she used to get a valid result because lately she had been feeling nauseous and hadn’t had her period since marrying Damian.

"If this is positive, if I’m pregnant... Damian will be so happy... But maybe Daniel will be sad... He’ll have to stop getting breast milk from ," she said anxiously, then picked up one of the tests and her eyes widened instantly.

"Oh my...."

The woman trembled, her eyes instantly feeling hot, and tearing up, then picked up another test, almost all of them showing positive results while only one showed a negative result.

"Oh God, this is happening!" she exclaid, tears streaming down her face, imdiately reminded of Damian who wanted a baby so much. "He must be happy!"

She quickly took her phone from the pocket of the vanilla-colored sweater she was wearing, then tried to contact her husband via video call but got no answer.

"Umh... maybe he’s busy?" she asked, looking at the phone’s clock showing eleven in the morning. "Maybe he’s in a eting. I shouldn’t tell him now... I should specially tell him!"

With all her enthusiasm, she put her phone away and started washing all the pregnancy tests, then wiped them with a small towel. She took the tests to the dressing room, then opened a drawer and looked at so boxes of old watches and other accessories before choosing a dium-sized maroon box and taking it to the short bed.

"Umh, I need baby clothes!" she said, thinking. "I’ll place the tests here, then cover them with baby clothes. Maybe I should order so first!"

She quickly grabbed her phone again, opened an online shop, and searched for baby clothes.

"Oh my God, that’s super cute!" she exclaid with enthusiasm as she looked at many pictures of baby clothes in various colors, so even complete with shoes and hats.

"Okay... Maybe with shoes too," she said with a smile but was suddenly startled when Damian called.

Sowhat panicked and nervous, she answered the call imdiately.

"Hello," she said, trying to contain her excitent.

"Baby, sorry I didn’t answer your call, I was leading a eting," Damian replied from the phone.

"Oh, it’s okay..."

"What happened? You don’t usually call

during work hours. Is there a problem?"

"No..." Valerie bit her lower lip, then looked at the test that was already in the box, making her want to tell him, but she had to hold back. "I just... I just want you to have lunch at ho... I’ll cook a special al... Your favorite food."

"But aren’t you feeling unwell? You don’t have to cook for

if you’re not feeling well. Let Grace cook, I’ll co ho at one p.m."

"Um..." Valerie kept smiling, imagining Damian’s reaction later. "But I really want to prepare food for you even if it’s just a simple al."

"What happened to you?" Damian asked, sounding amused. "This morning you were so lazy, you even let

have breakfast alone with Daniel but now you want to make lunch for ?"

Valerie blushed imdiately.

"Nothing’s wrong... I just don’t want my husband to turn away from

because I’m too spoiled."

"No... No one could turn away from you, my love."

"Okay... I’ll start cooking now. I also want to see if Daniel’s back from daycare."

"Okay... See you later, I love you."

"I love you, Daddy."

"Hehehe..."

"Why are you laughing?" Valerie asked, blushing.

"It’s nothing... I just really like that call," Damian replied.

"Okay, finish your work and then co ho!" Valerie confird, then quickly ended the call.

The woman sighed deeply, looking at the tests in the box and thinking about what she should do now.

"Okay... I should probably prepare balloons... And then a paper bag," she said, then focused back on her phone to order a paper bag and so balloons.

...

12:30 PM

Damian hurriedly left the office in his red sports car, but sothing caught his attention, causing him to slow down his car. He rolled down the window, seeing a burly man berating a middle-aged woman next to a car.

"What the fuck is this?" he exclaid, then imdiately got out of the car and approached them.

"I can’t deal with you, I’m really busy... You’re completely useless!" the burly man shouted, pushing the middle-aged woman until Damian caught her, preventing her from falling onto the hot, hard asphalt.

Damian stared sharply at the man, then let the middle-aged woman take refuge behind him.

"How could you do this to a woman who can’t even fight back against you?" he asked angrily.

"It’s none of your fucking business!" the burly man snapped, pointing at Damian. "She’s a fucking problem for , so I have to get rid of her from my life!"

Damian fell silent, his breath racing, his emotions roiling.

"She’s my daughter’s husband," the middle-aged woman whispered. "He hasn’t liked

since my daughter died... He’s going to remarry and kick

out of the house even though it’s my daughter’s house, she bought it with her hard-earned money!" she continued with a sad look.

"You don’t need to trust her, she’s fucking old and senile. She even admits all my assets are hers!" the man exclaid.

Damian breathed roughly. "Whatever happens because of you, you can’t treat her like this. What do you an leaving her here? Do you want to abandon her? You should put her in a nursing ho or with her relatives if you don’t want to live with her anymore!"

"She doesn’t want to, she’ll just make up stories that will make

look really bad!" the man insisted with his sharp gaze. "I don’t want to deal with her anymore, if necessary, you take her... She’s just an annoying old woman!" he continued angrily, pointing at the middle-aged woman and then quickly opening his car door.

Angry, Damian imdiately pulled the man and pushed him until he fell onto the asphalt.

"You heartless bastard!" he shouted.

The burly man quickly stood up, glaring at Damian.

"It’s none of your business, damn it!" he shouted.

"It may not be my business, but I can’t let a man like you go without smashing your face!" Damian retorted.

"Oh, so you want to fight

here? Do you think you can beat

with your fucking tiny body?"

Feeling humiliated, especially when the man smirked at him so cynically, Damian imdiately lunged at him, pushing him until he fell and sat on his chest, then punched his face.

The man struggled, and Damian was thrown onto the asphalt.

"You think you’re the strongest, you fucking bastard!" the man shouted, imdiately stepping on Damian’s stomach.

"Aghh!" Damian imdiately felt so breathless, reflexively trying to move the man’s leg from his stomach.

"Stop, don’t hurt him!" the middle-aged woman scread.

Instead, the man shifted to step on Damian’s hand, then leaned down and grabbed his white shirt with his left hand before hitting his face with his right hand.

Damian tried to fight back with his left hand while still enduring imnse pain as the man’s foot continued to stomp on him with high and hard shoes.

"I should just finish you off! You’re only adding to my problems!" exclaid the muscular man.

Damian kept struggling until the man almost fell and stopped stepping on him. He quickly stood up, panting, glaring at the man with hatred.

"Why do you look at

like that? Can’t you accept your defeat?" the muscular man smirked cynically.

Damian, clenching his fist, swiftly approached the man and pushed him against the car’s body, then began choking him.

"You, you’re the one who’s going to die, you fucking bastard!" he shouted through gritted teeth.

The man tried to remove Damian’s hand from his neck with his left hand while his right hand reached into his back pocket.

"You’re going to die, you’re going to die!" Damian yelled, continuing to choke him.

"Oh God, stop it, don’t kill him, you’ll go to jail!" shouted the middle-aged woman.

Damian stopped choking him, then clenched his fists, and was about to punch him when suddenly sothing sharp stabbed his abdon.

"Ughh..." Damian jerked, feeling imnse pain in his stomach as he looked at the man until he bent over and saw a knife stuck in his abdon, instantly blood gushed out.

The muscular man imdiately pushed Damian until he fell on the street, then looked around, finding it still deserted.

"One stab doesn’t seem enough," he said, approaching Damian again to pull the knife out of his stomach.

"Aghh!" Damian gasped, in more pain, and in an instant his body tensed with tremors as he received another stab.

Blood ca out of his mouth, his head was spinning, his breath was racing until he couldn’t bear the pain anymore, his vision blurred, and slowly his eyes closed.
