Chapter 109: Damian saves them

Valerie kept running through the dense forest, so thick it seed gloomy and quiet, with only the sounds of wild animals, but occasionally she still heard Samuel’s shouts. The woman stopped under a large tree, then leaned against it, panting heavily, and looked at her son who hugged her tightly as if scared.

"Mama," Daniel whispered.

Valerie smiled with tears in her eyes. "We’ll be okay. We’ll find a way out of here, and Samuel won’t be able to follow us," she whispered.

"I’m scared, there’s a snake."

"A snake..."

"Up there..." Daniel pointed to a branch above them, and his mother imdiately looked up and saw a fairly large snake coiled there.

Valerie quickly moved away from the tree, trembling, her hands tired from carrying Daniel, but that didn’t make her put him down.

"Oh my God..." She gasped at the sight of the brown-black python. "We can’t stay here..."

She glanced around, quiet, not hearing Samuel’s voice anymore, making her think he had stopped chasing her. The woman continued to walk aimlessly, hoping to find a way out of the forest.

"Mama... Will Dada help us?" Daniel asked.

"You don’t need to put hope on him, Mama can even save you," Valerie replied with a disappointed look, thinking Damian couldn’t help her, not caring about her, considering the past few days he had barely had any ti for her. ’He just keeps saying he’ll manage to get away from Karina, but so far he’s still with her. He doesn’t seem to be trying to get away from her... Maybe he doesn’t want to marry !’ she thought angrily.

Daniel looked around, always holding onto his mother’s clothes tightly whenever he saw insects around the trees or leaves.

"Awhh!"

Valerie winced in pain as she accidentally bumped into the grass with thorny vines. She imdiately stepped back and then looked at her bleeding ankle.

"You’re bleeding!" Daniel exclaid.

"It’s okay..." Valerie looked around again. "This place is very unsafe for us." She continued to walk, avoiding the overly dense grass until suddenly...

"You can’t run from ..."

Samuel erged from behind a tree nearby, smiling sinisterly as he stretched out his hands. Instantly she trembled and shook her head.

"No... You won’t catch us. We won’t live with you, you madman!" Valerie shouted, running towards the west.

Samuel imdiately chased after her, walking, knowing Valerie wouldn’t be able to run fast.

"Valerie, co on... You should be with

rather than with Damian. He’s not a loyal man, he even has a relationship with another girl!" Samuel exclaid.

Valerie continued to run panting, occasionally looking back to make sure Samuel was still chasing her or not.

Daniel, clinging to Valerie’s neck with his face turned backward, saw Samuel getting closer.

"Mama, hurry. He’s almost catching up!" he cried out.

Samuel stopped, grabbed a large tree branch, and continued walking.

"Valerie, can’t you just stop? Why are you so stubborn? So foolish!" he shouted.

Valerie kept running until she saw a brighter direction and slowly found a narrow path.

"Oh God, we’re getting out!" she exclaid with a smile.

Samuel imdiately ran, not letting Valerie leave the forest, but he stumbled on the roots of the grass and fell.

"Mama, hurry... He fell!" Daniel exclaid.

Valerie stopped on the narrow road and ran until she saw Damian’s car approaching.

"Damian..." She smiled with relief.

Damian quickly got out of his car and ran towards them, but his gaze was diverted to Samuel, who was running towards them with a branch. He imdiately turned to him, tackled him, and fell with him.

"Haggh!" he scread, imdiately grabbing Samuel’s shirt and punching his face. "You bastard, you devil... How dare you disturb my son and my fiancée!" He kept hitting him rcilessly while sitting on his chest.

Samuel didn’t have a chance to fight back, but his hand slowly reached for sothing from his pants pocket.

Valerie was confused and scared, looking around at the deserted surroundings.

"I’ll never forgive you... I’ll kill you!" Damian shouted, choking Samuel with both his hands.

Samuel struggled to breathe, but his right hand managed to open a pocket knife and...

"Aghh!" Damian scread, feeling an excruciating pain in his waist from Samuel’s stab. Reflexively, he released his grip on Samuel’s neck and moved away from his body while holding the knife still stuck in his waist.

"Damian..." Valerie gasped.

"Daddy!" Daniel imdiately burst into tears.

"Aghh..." Damian turned to Valerie. "Get in the car, take Daniel, and go!" he yelled.

Valerie shook her head.

Samuel stood up again, imdiately punching Damian’s face until he fell.

"You should die, you coward!" he shouted, then stomped on Damian’s stomach.

"Ugh!" Damian imdiately felt breathless, experiencing extre pain, and suddenly blood ca out of his mouth.

"I know I’m wrong, but it feels so unfair that you have her while I’ve always been there for her... You’re not worthy of her if I’m not worthy of her too!" Samuel shouted, lifting his foot again and switching to stomping on Damian’s chest.

"Emh..." Damian felt suffocated and more in pain until he couldn’t lift his hands anymore.

"Samuel, stop it!" Valerie shouted, imdiately pushing Samuel away from Damian’s body. "Who do you think you are? You have no right to push anyone aside just to make yourself feel fair! I have the right to determine who will have ! And if I choose Damian, you have no right to forbid us from being together because we’ve been together before. You’re a parasite to us, you’re a destroyer... How can you still not stop after seeing our suffering? Can you stop this madness? You can find a better life than disturbing our lives... It will only ruin you!"

Samuel fell silent as if slapped by Valerie’s words.

"Leave before the police co and catch you and make you rot in jail!" Valerie exclaid angrily, then looked at Damian, who was helpless with the knife still stuck. "Damian... You have to hold on..."

"Go... Just go," Damian whispered with his eyes looking sad.

"No, I’ll go with you..." Valerie helped him sit up.

Samuel clenched his fists, the flas of jealousy burning him again until he imdiately grabbed a branch from the ground and struck Damian’s head with it.

"Ughh..." Damian jerked and imdiately flinched, surprised, not even reacting as if he were numb.

Valerie was shocked. "Damian...!"

Damian collapsed into Valerie’s arms, while Samuel remained silent with an empty stare as if regretting his actions.

"Dada!" Daniel ran over, along with police cars slowly appearing.

Samuel panicked, imdiately running towards the forest.

"Damian... wake up... Damian..." Valerie supported Damian’s head and saw him unconscious. "Damian... hold on!" she cried out with unbearable tears.

"Dada ...wake up!" Daniel also panicked.

"Oh my God, he’s bleeding too much!" exclaid Hans, who had just approached, followed by a police officer, while other police officers were still chasing Samuel.

He imdiately called for the dical team to evacuate Damian, then took him to the hospital while Valerie and Daniel followed in another car.

...

Ti passed so quickly, that Valerie was already at the hospital, precisely in the waiting room in front of the ER. She sat with Daniel on her lap, still trembling and imagining Damian with wounds on his body.

’Oh God, save him... I will do anything for his happiness, I will cast away my doubts... Save him,’ she thought, her lips trembling as she cried.

"Is Dada going to die?" Daniel asked with his fearful gaze.

"No, don’t say that," Valerie quickly shook her head. "He will survive, and you must always believe that. Pray for him!" She emphasized with her soft voice until her gaze shifted to Hans, who ca carrying two bottles of drinks.

Hans handed the bottle to Valerie after opening it.

"Drink, I’m sure you’re thirsty and tired," he said.

Valerie took the bottle with her trembling hand, then drank little by little, also giving so to Daniel.

Hans sat next to Valerie and then looked at Daniel, who looked dirty with ssy hair and a sweaty face as if he was overheated.

"Co here, let

take off your clothes, you must be feeling very hot," he said, reaching for Daniel from Valerie’s lap. "You’re a smart and strong boy. You didn’t even cry in such a frightening situation," he continued while taking off his dusty jacket.

"I shouldn’t cry, it might disappoint Dada," Daniel replied with his innocent gaze.

Hans smiled. "You’re truly like your father."

"Yes... Hannah said I should protect Mama."

"Yes, you should protect your mama..."

Valerie sighed deeply, leaning her head against the white-walled hospital. Her mind wandered everywhere, to Samuel still being chased by the police, Damian getting help from the dical team, and thinking about her family who might still be worrying about her.

"Umm..." She imdiately turned to Hans. "Have you inford my family?"

"No, but I told Damian’s mother. Now she’s at your house with your family. So she might have told them," explained Hans calmly. "Don’t worry..."

Valerie nodded, then looked at her two injured legs from rubbing against thorny grass, even her legs were very dirty, while her hands also had so wounds from sharp branches.

"I think I need to call a doctor to treat your wounds," said Hans.

"No... It’s fine... I’ll stay here," replied Valerie, then her attention shifted to Darius, who had just arrived with Elena.
