Alex’s eyes bore holes in her. There was sothing strange the way she looked at that man.
"I do not want to marry at such a young age. I want to be strong myself. And he is almost twice my age." She was close to eighteen while the man was already twenty eight. Though age did not matter when it cos to love, there was no love between them. Alex was still not satisfied with the answer. He knew sothing was wrong but looking at her pale face and sweat covered body, he did not continue.
He stood up and started the karaoke again. Then he held her hand and pulled her toward the mike.
"Since you are already here, co sing with ." He held her by her waist. She blinked and looked at the mike in her hands he had slipped.
The music was already filling the room. The words had started to appear on the screen.
"You are my destiny but.." his enchanting voice filled the room. Sohow her mind started to drift away. Benard’s image was fading in her mories. Those mories looked too distant.
When did she start singing? She shook her head when the song changed. He was changing again and again playing all the strange songs. From romance to cody, from cody to tragedy, the songs changed.
Their voices filled the room and she sighed when it finally ended. But then another strange sound filled the room. He blinked and then looked at her with a startled face.
"I am hungry." She sighed. From the amusent park to this karaoke. She had exhausted herself too much. Now she was tired and hungry. So she thickened her skin and blad her growling to him.
"Ha! Hahahaha!" Alex shook his head and called the waitress to bring food.
"But there is already so much food on the table." Nora frowned as she looked at the untouched platter of snacks and beer bottles.
"That’s not suited for you." His look turned complex, "do not worry they will bring fresh food soon." Nora could only nod and took out her phone to play with it.
"I want to try beef. I had heard it is famous here." he chuckled and called for the waitress again. When he was ordering it, she stealthily picked up so food in the tissue paper and hid it in her bag.
"I ruined your party tonight." She looked at him apologetically but he only stared at the waiters cleaning the table.
"It is fine! I was only getting bored anyway." he picked up the glass of water, "did she drag you here or you ca yourself?"
"They have called for . I can not go against them again and again. They have belongings of my parents."
"And shares!" she paused. He had once asked about it before too.
"You do not know?" he titled his head. Darkness flashed in his eyes, "I have confird it Nora. Your uncle did not have any shares. But after the death of your father, your uncle had thirty percent shares with him. Even if he paid the debts? Do you know what those debts were!" she shook her head. It had been so long. Even in her past life, she had never heard about the debts of her father and the shares.
All she knew was... she was young. Too young when her family died in an accident. And her uncle’s family ca to live with her. They had treated her well in the first year. But more and more creditors started to knock on their door asking for money. They all claid that their family had taken debts from them. She did not understand why her family needed so much debt. Her uncle was furious after paying so many debts.
That was the ti when the behavior of her uncle and aunt changed towards her. After that, her downfall started.
But now, it did seem fishy. But so many years had passed. She did not have the power to investigate.
"Alric that had power." he whispered it softly but she still heard it. Her heart clenched. "I will see what I can do for you." guilt crushed her before relief and gratitude. She was using him. But he was ready to forget his issues with his brother to help her.
"I am not ready for the truth yet. I will only be ready for it when I have the power to retaliate against them." he stared into her determined eyes and clenched hands. How she looked so different from the shivering girl.
He wanted to say sothing but looked away.
"Forget about it, have you prepared for the national exams? Since you are second in rank..."
"That was a mistake! I was only competing. Forget about , are you prepared? If you pass, you can get admission in any national level university. You can get far away from here." she nodded, her eyes becoming colder.
"I will leave for sure. I have already planned for it." stab! Alex stabbed the at harder making the plate clink but he ignored it and started eating.
They talked about random things the whole dinner. And then he dropped her to the hostel. Just as she opened the door, he called for her.
"Nora!" she paused and turned to look at him. "Next ti, do not try to use . Co to if you need sothing or spend ti with . I will not mind it." her hands tightened on the window.
Again and again, he was being so kind to her that the guilt was clawing her chest.
"Alex! Why are you so good to ?" she could not help but ask. The answer was sothing she was afraid of and curious about.
"Tsk! When did I say I am good to you? I am only investing. One day, when you achieve a good position, I will take my paynts with interest. Now leave Nora before I will change my decision."
