"I am hungry!" Nat rubbed her stomach as they finalled the last vase.

They spent a good ti in IKEA and then went to the mall to buy so decorative items. Now it was already evening yet they have eaten nothing.

"Oh! Right." he paused in front of a small fast food restaurant and looked at it skeptically.

"Nothing is good for your health there." he frowned when she drooled on the pizza and burgers they were selling.

"But my baby is carving for it." she pouted when he did not let go of her hands. They were standing too close to the door.

The waitress there smiled.

"Sir, even if mom is pregnant, she could still try our thin crust pizza and multi grain subways. As a father you should start indulging your child already." The girl then inotrop cured their health version of pizzas.

Natalie heard nothing. She was frozen at her spot. Her face paled and she waited for Max to announce that he was not the father. But the mont didn’t co. Collecting her courage, she opened her eyes only to see Max listening to the nu and its ingredients seriously. He even asked questions about the food. Was she the only one who heard the waitress calling him dad? Was it her illusion or Max was thinking sothing else so he missed it?

She did not dare to imagine.

"Max, I am not hungry anymore." she whispered. She wanted to leave before..

"Why? I think she is right." right about what? Nat looked horrified by his reply. "We can try that multigrain snacks and thin crust pizza indeed had a good amount of veggies, cheese and at too. Would you like a simple one or cheese burst?"

"...." Nat was still shocked when the waitress showed them their table. Max pulled the seat for her before sitting and then he ordered a few dishes already.

Nat was too hungry. Perhaps, he had missed the word. She should not think too much about it. She waited for the food as she sipped on her chocolate shake.

The waitress returned with a lot of food. Max cut the at for her and filled her plate slowly. Then he checked every item before putting it on her plate.

Usually, the waiters are too busy. They left just after serving but the waitress was watching Max’s actions curiously. It was still early for dinner so the restaurant did not have many custors.

His serious actions caught her eyes. She smiled as she was called.

"You should eat slowly. Do not just drink, you need to eat too. Here, try this." Nat sighed as she felt like a child being forced to eat by her mother.

She did not want to eat anymore. But looking at his stern gaze, she knew refusing was not a choice.

She ate a few tis and he kept complaining. When their ealy dinner ended, the sa waitress returned with the bill.

Max passed his card and stood up.

"I will return in five minutes." nat nodded. He kept turning to look at her as the waitress cleared their table.

"Madam, sir loves you too much." Nat, who was about to bite on her dessert, paused.

Looking at her widened eyes, the waitress thought the girl was still sulking. She hurriedly explained.

"Though it looked like sir was complaining all the ti. He had taken good care while serving you. He made sure that you ate all the nutritious food and even waited patiently for you to finish before serving again. I hardly see boyfriends doing this much these days. Not to forget that you are already married. I wish I could find a husband like him." Nat opened her mouth but no words ca out. She sat there frozen.

"Madam.." the waitress called her again in confusion. "Are you upset that sir complained too much?" she asked again. Not sure why I didn’t look horrified. "Earlier your argunts looked like lovers spat."

"She had a habit of getting lost in her thoughts. Do not mind her." Max who had returned at so point whispered in a blank tone.

Nat could not et his eyes. She did not get the chance to clear the misunderstanding. What if he held her responsible.

"Max... i.." she did not know what to say. "I will explain to her." she whispered in the end when the waitress returned with the card, she was about to explain when Max sighed.

"There is no need." He took out two hundred dollars and placed them in the tip. The eyes of the girl widened. It was not an expensive hotel but a fast food restaurant where mostly youngsters eat.

They hardly pay tips. Much less this much.

"You are very generous sir, please visit again." thewaiteress bead with joy. Nat watched wide eyes as Max escorted her out.

"Why did you do that?" she asked, confused. The waitress had a blabber mouth. Not only did she comnt so much, she even spilled so shake on the table and did not bring dishes on ti.

"You do not need to explain to everyone, Nat. it is fine." he patted her arms as if she was sulking like a child.

"...." she was not even talking about the misunderstanding anymore. Nat could not understand how his brain worked at all.

"Do you need anything else?" he asked as he opened the door of his car for her.

Nat shook her head and sat down. She realized that the mistake could always repeat.

"Do you have a lover, Doc? You are at the age where you should settle down." Nat tapped on the window and looked outside. She did not notice his grip on the steering wheel tightening and his face getting rigid.

"Why? Did it disturb you?" Nat bit her lips. Would she be concerned if he had a girlfriend? What right did she have to feel anything?

"Of course not. I was just randomly chatting." she looked away. "Do you want to help in decorating the house.." Max opened his mouth and then shut it.

"You can do it much better without ."
