David frowned when he saw an empty room after returning in a hurry. His phone buzzed and another video of their family was trending in the search now.
"That girl had gone crazy!" his hand raised to throw the phone on the ground.
"Sir! This is the seventh and last phone we had. If you smash it, it will take at least three hours to bring a new one and the board eting is about to start. You may need it." The voice was pleading but it sounded like a harsh order to David who glared at his assistant as if he wanted to tear her apart.
"Board eting! Where is the board eting? Am I supposed to attend it alone? You hurried so much all this ti but where are others?" he pointed at the empty eting room with an ugly scowl on his face.
The assistant was at a loss of words too. Mr Connard had told them that he would delay the eting. Did he not? Did the eting already end? What was the result? She looked at David with wary eyes and the man imdiately straightened as if he knew what passed through her mind.
David’s phone rang again. His face looked uglier when he noticed Sophia’s na flashing on the screen.
"This foolish woman!" He cut the call without remorse.
"Where is Chris? At least he should have inford if the eting started early?" He dialled Chris’s number but the line was busy. He dialled thrice but each ti it was busy making him frustrated.
He raised the phone again but under the pleading gaze of his assistant, he did not throw it.
"How about I call Mr Connard and confirm it with him?" she knew if she did not find a solution, she was going to lose her job today.
The man finally nodded looking better. She nodded back and dialled the number. And picked up a glass from the table and passed it to David.
Snorting, David drank the glass. He behaved unaffected but his eyes were fixed on her phone. And his hands stiffened when the call was connected.
"Hello sir, I hope I am not disturbing you. The matter was... we were already in the eting room. But... oh! Ohh! Is that so?" David flinched when the secretary looked at David with concern. "No, no I will do it. Yes, we will be there sir. Thank you."
"What... What is it?" David’s heart raced. His pulse was so fast that he could have a heart attack.
"Many shareholders had sold their shares sir. So the transfer is taking ti. The eting is postponed for tomorrow." but instead of looking relieved from the postponed eting, they had the sa thought.
"Forget about it. It is common that a few weak hearted shareholders would sell their shares when it hit so low. The company is suffering too much loss sir. This might be your chance. If you bring a positive result before the eting, you can convince them." the girl offered only for David to grit his teeth.
"Do you think I am not trying? My feet are aching from running around. I have begged enough from that slut. But as she had gained the favor of Spencer, she thinks she is too powerful. She is not ready to bend even an inch." rage burnt like never before.
"I have never been humiliated this much. Yet I have held my ground. What else do you want from ?" he hissed and then the secretary felt helpless. She bit her lips from comnting but when he did not stop glaring at her as if it was all her fault.
’You could have kneeled." the words burnt her tongue but she did not speak them and sighed instead.
"Yes, she is a bitch. Now that she had power, she forgot who had taken care of her and raised her. If not for you, she would have died. But sir, you must convince her. If the videos keep popping up, we will be dood. How about we bargain and offer her so shares and other properties to placate her. There must be sothing she wants!" David frowned. That slut wanted sothing?
Yes! She wanted to ruin them. But why? Yes, they have hurt her but it was never to the length that she went crazy. She was bearing it for a long ti, why was she reacting like that now? Unless sothing big happened!
His eyes widened at once and his breath hitched in his chest.
"I have so urgent matters. I would be leaving first." the secretary frowned. This was not the reply she was expecting. But as if David could not hear her anymore.
No matter how much she shouted and called for him, he did not reply. She ran behind but his car was already sped off.
"Ha! The man had lost his mind." she was just curing David when she saw Xander standing in the parking lot.
She looked away. She did not have the ti to deal with a drunkard either.
"Miss Ebony. I was waiting here for you." he smiled, making the woman uneasy. He could see how she wanted to leave this instant. It made him chuckle. "Oh, you need to look at this before leaving."
The woman frowned but she could not refuse a shareholder from checking so papers. Curiously she opened them only for her eyes to widen.
"This!"
"Yes, all you need to do is co with . And I will make sure that you would not be hard by all this." the woman shifted at her place. Not comfortable with trusting Xander.
"Or you can just stay here and let that man ruin you with him. After all, loyalty is a rare gem." he laughed and then turned to leave.
Ebony bit her lips as she watched him leaving. The docunts in her hands burnt her hands.
"Wait! Mr Xander. Are you sure this new shareholder wants to hire ?" when the man only chuckled, she bit her lips harder. "Fine! I will co with you."
