"..." Penny was stunned as her mother reprimanded her harshly. This was the first ti her mother had scolded her in public. Even when she had slapped Nora, she was not scolded this much.
She felt unjustified, her eyes turned misty at once and she bit her lips tightly. Even the taste of blood in her mouth did not make her feel better.
"Nora, sit in the front with ." David frowned as the mother and daughter created a scene. He glared at them as he waved his hands toward Nora.
Sohpia paused in her tracks. In their long marriage, it had never happened that David had asked soone else to sit with him. Even Penny was not an exception. But Now Nora was offered that seat!
Her eyes narrowed and the desire to kill filled them.
Penny wiped her face and entered the backseat. She was jealous of Nora and decided to teach her a lesson soon.
"Nora, tonight, you are the star, so feel like one. With your looks, I am sure everyone would only look at you. You could order anything and enjoy it." her uncle was in a good mood. He praised her for looks and offered her sincere complints.
But there was sothing that made Nora uneasy as she stared at her uncle. At last, she looked away. Her eyes flickered when they stopped in front of Gloria’s heart. It was one of the most luxurious hotels in the city.
Not only money can book a seat there. It needed months earlier reservation and status to eat here.
Even when her uncle and aunt were pretending to be happy about her success, they did not need to go that far.
Even Penny gritted her teeth.
"Must go that far! She had just won a competition. It is not like she is a scientist now. She did not even get the admission in a good university. It shows the exam was not that important." she glared at Nora for stealing all the lilight.
"A friend helped in getting the reservation. We must enjoy this rare opportunity. I do not want any argunts inside, the managent here is very strict." he warned three of them, feeling a headache already. Must they show how ill mannered they were everywhere.
Sohpia’s jaw tightened and Penny glared at Nora before looking away. A waiter guided them to a private room appropriate for thirty people. David stood there as he discussed the dishes, music and drinks for tonight.
Penny stared at the congratulatory decoration. Her heart felt cold and dark. Everyone sat down when the door knocked and Tirston and his family entered.
"This is my wife Alia. You already know Kane, right." He smiled at them.
"And this girl, she is Nora, the winner of the competition I have told you about. And she is.. Penny Stone, daughter of David and this beautiful lady." Alia’s eyes paused at Nora for a long ti. She nodded with a look of approval, making Sophia pause.
She knew this look well. Her eyes darkened instantly. Penny only gritted her teeth. She had no interest in this young boy. He could show his affection to anyone. All she cared about was... Nora was stealing the lilight.
As they exchanged glances, a few other guests from David’s company and managent team and Penny’s friends and their family joined.
The room was soon full as everyone stared at Nora as if they were looking at her for the first ti. The girls were shocked. But they could not forget their loyalty. After their stunned gaze turned to normal, they all surrounded Penny.
"Penny, I heard that you are trying other fields for experience even when you are so good at studies. Truly, I envy you." As the dinner started, the girls started praising penny.
Penny smiled as she waved at the servers.
"There is nothing like that. My father inford his partner is investing in a fruit juice company and had recently introduced a new product. I was such a fan of their drinks that I offered to be its spokesperson.
The deal just happened. It was not planned at all." Alia raised her head and stared at Penny. No doubt the girl was beautiful. She had a feminist and cute personality. While Nora gave a cold and refined look. She did not have that youthful charm but the charm of a leader.
Despite being so young, she felt intimidating and domineering. Alia did not want a strong girl at her house. She would rather prefer a young and energetic girl.
And Penny was not bad.
"That is not all.. I heard that many other companies had contacted you too. You are soon going to be the best model out there." The girl sang praises of Penny as they fawned on her.
Entertainnt field was glamorous and popular. It soon caught the attention of the managent too. They looked at Penny appreciatively.
"Is that so? It has been a long ti since we have changed our advertisent. Mr Stone, your daughter is so talented. How about she works with us too." offered a shareholder who had a good relationship with David over the ti.
Other mbers stared at Penny. They did not find any issue with the deal.
David smiled awkwardly as he dabbed his mouth with his handkerchief.
"What do you think Penny? Would you be able to manage so much with your studies? Hmm?" Penny looked at the tight spot.
But as she looked at the elders, she lowered her head looking submissive.
"It is about our family, father. Even if I am busy, I will cancel other offers. I can not let down my own family."
