"Why did you accept her invitation? She is planning sothing against you." Nora turned to look at Kane who had started following her for so reason.
"And what does it have to do with you?" She paused. "Look Kane, I have so many things to deal with already. I do not want you following and creating a rumor for your little girlfriend." Girlfriend! Kane knew Nora was talking about Penny. But how could she call Penny little? Are they not of the sa age?
And the way she looks down on him and Penny as if they were not of the sa league. He gritted his teeth.
"If you need money.."
"I will earn it with my own ans." she hissed and turned to leave. Kane’s eyes narrowed. He was already bowing his head yet Nora was so cold! What did she have that made her so arrogant?
Nora reached her room and checked her bank account.
"It was still not enough!" she sighed and closed her eyes. After an hour, she worked on the company she had acquired. Their production was already sent a week ago to Benard’s company. She was sure it was the ti.
"Seb, did you receive any reply from them?" she asked as she checked a few more papers.
"We have already received paynt three days ago, Nora. I am sure they would not find any issue with the product. I have personally checked the whole lot before dispatching it." Nora smiled but did not reply.
Her silence made it easier for him than her cold words.
"Nora, are you hiding sothing from ?" the way she was waiting for a reply! As if she knew they were going to raise a complaint.
"Did you start the production again with their paynt?" Seb closed his eyes and sighed.
"Yes, I have started producing fifty thousand bottles of the juice as you have asked , but Nora. We do not have any demand in the market. Our product is hardly launched. Would it not be better if we concentrate on mineral water production instead? Since its market is already flourishing?" He did not understand this little girl at all.
"Of course we will. From the advance we receive after selling all the juice bottles. And contact an advertising agency. We will make a good advertisent for our company too." Before he could complain again, Nora cut the call conveniently.
A ssage was waiting for her. Victor had sent her a few pictures of his al and their school. He had even sent her a college entrance examination book picture. She smiled at that. She could already imagine him reading that book reluctantly white looking at the gaming console.
She shook her head and sent him a few pics in return. How ti passed. It was already evening. Amyra had sent her a dress in case she had nothing formal to wear.
Nora scanned the dress. There was nothing wrong with it. It was a formal knee length bodycon black dress with cream strips. It would suit her body perfectly.
But Nora only combed her hair. She was still wearing the uniform of her country when she reached the venue. Everyone was wearing formal clothes. It was a gathering of teachers. They were discussing cancer over dinner.
When they saw Nora approaching they looked surprised.
"I have invited her." Amyra stood up before anyone would stop Nora from joining them. "I know you would question it, but her research paper had left thinking. If anyone deserves to be here, it is her. Her research work is better than mine too. So, if there is only one seat for a student, I want to give my seat to her." Amyra stood up to leave while pulling Nora on her seat.
A few of them frowned while a few looked at Nora curiously. They knew Amyra did not care about anyone. She was mostly busy with her work and business.
"It is alright. Ask the waiter to add another seat." a man with white hair and sunken eyes said. "We all are getting old and hardly have any new ideas left. It is good to have fresh blood among ourselves. Who knows what we might learn tonight." His voice was so soothing and calm.
Nora didn’t feel any malice coming from him as she bowed and sat down.
"Ha! I do not mind having fresh blood. But it should at least be a sensible person. If anyone would join our conversation, would we even learn sothing tonight?" Jennifer, the teacher from her first exam, snorted and took a sip of her drink.
"Isn’t it the new participant? I have been there in the hall. She isn ot that bad." Nora smiled wryly as they were talking about her as if she was just an object.
"Yes, not only that.. She had written a research paper on the treatnt of cancer as her preliminary exam because she was injured and could not attend the exam. The thod of choosing was so rare that I have forgotten about it." that caught the interest of many. Those who did not care about her presence before looked at her again.
"You are researching cancer treatnt?" a man choked on his drink as he looked at Nora bewildered.
’So that was the plan. Amyra had invited her here to humiliate her since she was sure that I had cheated in the research paper.’ Nora smiled bemused. She did not understand where Amyra’s confidence ca from.
"Yes, I am. But I do not share the information for free. If anyone wants to ask a question, I would charge a thousand dollars for it." She leaned on her chair boldly and picked up the glass of champagne in front of her.
"...." many eyes twitched. Amyra was hardol able to hold her smile. Nora could not hide her greedy nature at all. She could not understand why a man like Alric was interested in her?
"Don’t mind her. She is just like that. Do not worry, if you want to ask, feel free, I will pay her the due amount."
