"Congratulations Matt, Steve.. Jennifer. You are all selected for the finals. But let tell you, you all will not get to participate till the end. There would be many rounds there and only two of you would qualify to give the final exam." Everyone sucked a deep breath.
Their eyes filled with desire and ambition.
"Even if you do not make it to the finals, you have made a na for yourself. Any university would accept you easily. I hope you will learn from this experience and explore the foreign lands. This is Mr Alric Spencer. The renowned owner of Mariana chain of hospitals and hotels. He is the last winner of the competition. He will guide you to those lands."
It ant no one had won in China in a long ti. "And this is Miss Amyra Aniston. She had been the second to reach the finals. She had personally requested to join our team and share our experience." Alric’s eyes went cold as soon as Amayra pulled her luggage and stood in the hotel’s lobby.
He had been living here for a day, yet he did not know that she was here. Coming to cheer the team and share her experience? What a joke! He knew why she was here and when their eyes t, the smirk on her face confird it.
She stood beside Alric and smiled at everyone. Her eyes scanned the selected students. Her eyes paused on Nora Stone and narrowed before she looked away.
"Looking at our ages, you must have guessed that our country has not been winning this competition for a long ti. Alric always accompanied the selected students hoping a new winner would erge, but... so this ti, I decided to join too. Maybe I will be the lucky charm of the team." she laughed heartily making the boys brighten around her.
The girls smiled too except Nora. she looked at her coldly. Was the girl trying to confirm that their skills were not enough without her presence?
"Yes, we are thrilled to get the experience of the best students of our country. While Mr Spencer decided to study in a national university. Miss Ainston had studied abroad in Oxenia university and made a na for herself." a bit of disappointnt in director Reid’s voice as he explained about them to the students.
But those who believe that other countries provide better education looked at Amyra with bright eyes.
"Miss Amyra what do you do now?" a girl could not hold herself and asked.
"Jennifer!" Director Reid warned but Amyra smiled and shook her head at him.
"I am researching dicines. I have made a small contribution in cancer treatnt and currently I am working on a new cure. Besides that, I love to write stories and articles. You can find my na in the newspaper and magazines easily.
And, I work with my father in his company too." That was a lot! Not only was she a scientist, but a scholar and a businessman. Yet she had taken the initiative to join them.
"You are like a goddess, Miss Ainston." a boy said blushing and she laughed.
"We should get going. It is getting late." From the start to the end, Alric did not participate in the conversation and students did not pay much attention to him as Amayra. Amyra had won the hearts of the students.
She discussed the important questions of their last exam and told them a few key points on performing better. Her eyes occasionally stilled on Nora who looked like she was intently listening. But Amyra knew Nora was not paying attention. Her eyes went cold but she controlled her expressions and smiled brightly.
"It is strange.." she started, "Nora, i hope i can call you by your na. Nora, you are the ranker among them. Yet you have no queries?" Everyone turned to look at Nora.
"It is not like that, she doesn’t like to talk much." Nora passed a glance to Kane, the last selected student among them. She had not expected him to speak up for her. But when she noticed the guilt in his eyes, she looked away.
What he think of Penny had nothing to do with her.
"Even so, you should ask more questions. Everyone had high expectations from you." Nora wanted to ignore this woman. But in this life, she had promised herself that she would not be bullied.
She could feel that Amyra was not there to help her at least.
"If you say so.. I always wanted to discuss my thesis paper with soone. Can you explain its flaws?" Amyra was surprised that the girl had written a thesis. Do they not write it in universities?
"Oh yes, I have heard about it too. It was on the cure of cancer too. No? Miss Amyra is researching the sa topic. She would surely give you so pointers."
"..." shock would not justify Amyra’s feelings. When Nora took out a paper and passed it to Amyrra, her eyes widened to the limit that everyone noticed.
Her years of training to never lose her smile had saved her from showing her ugly face.
But she still did not have a reply.
"You are supporting herbal therapies instead of conventional chemotherapy!" the words ca out choking.
"Yes, I know that you are a supporter of chemotherapy. That was why I kept silent." this wench! Such a lowly servant. But how could she write this paper?
She could not believe it!!
"Oh of course not. I know that herbal therapy is getting more and more exposure these days. How about I invite you to et our team and learn a few things from real experts. Right now, we should concentrate more on the competition and this has nothing to do with it." Nora only smiled. She did not explode how Amyra had refused to comnt a single line on the research paper and called her fake. But she extended her hand with a bright smile making Amyra flinch.
Amyra was planning to keep the papers.
"Oh of course!"
