Period of chaos.

The clan mbers of the sixteenth-rank superpower user once fought Ji Ning for territory in order to survive, but she counterattacked and captured them.

At that ti, Ji Ning was in dire need of people and did not kill all the captives, instead arranging for them to live in a secure area under her control.

Their clan’s superpower users had very unique abilities, and everyone was skilled in ntal control.

Back then, Ji Ning even took the trouble to learn Spiritual Ability from the clan leader, and that was when she learned the language, too.

When the sixteenth-rank superpower user was captured, he used his Spiritual Ability on everyone who approached him to hide his identity. This allowed Ji Ning to guess his identity and, by combining it with the Security Bureau’s international permissions, confirm his superpower strength at the sixteenth rank.

Unexpectedly, after traveling 120 years into the future, she could still witness an old monster who survived the chaos period.

She was reluctant to take action.

A glint flashed in Ji Ning’s eyes.

"If I killed them, how would I learn your language?"

"You could totally force them..."

"Do you think your clan leader would be willing to teach an enemy the correct language?"

Hesitation appeared in the eyes of the sixteenth-rank superpower user. The clan leader in his mory was a wise old man who would make his enemy suffer even if threatened, but there was also the possibility that the person in front of him wasn’t deceived.

Joe Lane had said that Ji Ning was very cunning. Otherwise, how could she overpower a group of n and beco the person in charge of Hua Continent?

"Forget it."

A light sigh.

The sixteenth-rank superpower user suddenly found himself able to sense the energy around him again.

Not far away, Ji Ning was also preparing to take a step and leave.

"Where are you going?"

"To sleep." Ji Ning’s voice was sowhat lazy.

The sixteenth-rank superpower user said incredulously, "Aren’t you afraid I’ll level Jiuming Mountain?"

"You can try!"

"You..."

The sixteenth-rank superpower user was exasperated. Since reaching the tenth rank, he had never suffered such a grievance.

But he couldn’t take action. The woman in front of him had forced his clan to surrender during the chaos period. She might as well be the legendary old monster now.

It wasn’t worth risking his life for her.

"When will you let go?" the sixteenth-rank superpower user asked.

Ji Ning yawned, "Follow the procedures, let the West Continent’s delegation co to negotiate."

The sixteenth-rank superpower user was currently serving the West Continent, not Jiazhou where Joe Lane was from.

However, a certain agreent between the two continent’s high-level mbers temporarily allowed Joe Lane to command him to co to Jiuming Mountain to steal weapons.

Now that his identity was exposed and with old monsters like Ji Ning in Jiuming Mountain whose strength was unknown, he could only abandon the mission and wait for the West Continent’s side to ransom him.

On the other side.

After moving far enough away from the sixteenth-rank superpower user, Ji Ning could no longer suppress the raging abilities within her body. She clutched her chest and spat out a mouthful of blood.

Fu Yuanxuan and Mantis, who were on guard nearby, were the first to run over.

"Ji Ning, what’s wrong?"

"Sister Ning, are you alright?"

Ji Ning’s eyes were bloodshot, and she said through gritted teeth, "Backlash. Take to the confinent chamber."

Fu Yuanxuan paused for a mont, then imdiately reached out, "Apologies."

He directly carried Ji Ning on his back and ran swiftly towards the base’s confinent chamber.

"Captain, shouldn’t we take Sister Ning to the dical room instead?" Mantis, who caught up, asked worriedly.

Feeling the increasingly ragged breathing behind him, Fu Yuanxuan held his breath and accelerated again, nearly reaching the speed of the final sprint in a fifty-kiloter cross-country exercise.

As soon as he closed the door of the confinent chamber, he heard a heavy object suddenly falling inside.

"Captain, will Sister Ning be okay?"

Mantis was very worried.

He had watched the entire interaction between the two on the field. Although he didn’t know what they had said, Sister Ning was so fierce in the fight, practically pressing the Outer Continent man to the ground, so how did she suddenly suffer a backlash?

He was puzzled.

If he were Lin Yuanyang, Ji Ning might have explained it to him.

Since contacting the sixteenth-rank superpower user, she had been subtly using Spiritual Ability on him.

This kind of ability is silently effective in its early stages and is hard to guard against, but as it deeply influences the target’s brain, the cost of the ability grows exponentially for Ji Ning.

If the person in front of her wasn’t at the sixteenth rank, she wouldn’t easily use such a ntally exhausting superpower.

But the outco after exhausting herself was successful, at least she fooled the sixteenth-rank superpower user.

On the field, the reason the sixteenth-rank superpower user didn’t sense the abilities around him wasn’t because Ji Ning used a space isolation-like ability but because her ntal manipulation successfully deceived the sixteenth-rank superpower user’s perception into believing he couldn’t use his abilities.

Fortunately, the sixteenth-rank superpower user was deceived. Had he been more cautious and continued to stall, she could have put on a show of spitting up blood in front of him.

***

Dark confinent chamber.

Ji Ning lay on the ground with her eyes closed.

Streams of blood flowed from her seven orifices.

The rampant energy was constantly colliding in Ji Ning’s body, destroying and rebuilding her ridians over and over, until the energy was consud and absorbed, achieving balance.

The blood-stained earrings shone like sothing new in the dark room.

Flashing rhythmically, as if they had a lody.

Soon, the light grew larger, wrapping Ji Ning’s body like a cocoon.

No one knew how much ti passed before the light of the cocoon dimd, and the entire confinent chamber was once again engulfed in darkness.

When Ji Ning opened the confinent chamber door while wearing a blood-stained uniform, the sky had already darkened, and the moon had risen over the branches.

The "Door God" outside took a deep breath.

"Sister Ning, you’re alright?" Mantis rubbed his bumped forehead, his eyes shining brightly.

Ji Ning nodded slightly, "Where is the sixteenth-rank?"

Mantis smiled sheepishly, "I’ll ask the captain."

"No need." Ji Ning had already locked onto his ability’s fluctuations.

"Sister Ning, are you hungry?"

Then a stomach growl echoed in the silent night sky.

Mantis clutched his stomach, cheeks turning red, his voice filled with guilty conscience, much softer, "I an, you haven’t eaten in such a long ti; we could go to the cafeteria."

"Let’s go."

The two went one after the other to the pitch-black base cafeteria.

Mantis awkwardly scratched his head again, "I’ll go call soone."

An hour later—

Mantis belched contentedly, looking satisfiedly at Ji Ning still devouring food on the opposite side.

There were already eight large bowls piled up beside her.

The cook in the back kitchen looked painfully at the flour bags, which were now one-third empty, wondering if he should get another pot of flour.

After finishing her tenth bowl of noodles, Ji Ning finally stopped.

She wiped her mouth with a napkin and turned to the cook not far away, saying, "It was delicious, thank you!"

The cook was on the verge of tears but forced a smile, "Co again if you liked it."

"Okay."

Cook: ...

After eating, Ji Ning prepared to do so proper work to help digest.

But seeing the stupid boy next to her, she frowned slightly, "Aren’t you going to sleep?"

Mantis scratched his head innocently, "Sleep, the captain said I should escort you back to the won’s camp first."

"I know the way, you can go first!"

"But..."

Before he could finish his sentence, Ji Ning had already vanished with a swift movent.

Having finally shaken off Mantis, Ji Ning headed straight for the room where the sixteenth-rank superpower user was held.

The outside was still on full alert, but the person inside had his limbs’ shackles removed, only the suppression ring remained on his neck.

As Ji Ning sneaked in, he almost attacked her.

"What are you here for again?" the sixteenth-rank superpower user asked with a glare.

Ji Ning leaned against the wall, speaking indifferently, "Dare to cripple Joe Lane?"
