The door was opened by Butler Woods when they arrived.
As soon as he saw Brooke Sinclairs and Jordan Hawthorne, he imdiately recognized their identities, and his amiable and charitable face turned cold.
"Who are you looking for?"
Brooke was oblivious to the cold reception and enthusiastically greeted him, "Hello, my na is Brooke Sinclairs. The person next to is the president of the Hawthorne Group, and also my lover.
We’re here today to seek dical help.
We’ve heard for a long ti about the extraordinary skills of the Phantom-Hand Healer from the Chiron Sect. My lover has been suffering from illness for many years and has yet to be cured.
Today, we sincerely hope that we could persuade the healer to help us!"
Butler Woods felt the urge to scoff.
If he rembered correctly, the man from the Hawthorne Family had his leg healed by Miss Sabrina back then.
Moreover, she painstakingly took care of him for years.
Yet he doesn’t show gratitude, not only cold-shouldering Miss Sabrina, but now he’s got the nerve to co here and ask for help!
Butler Woods responded indifferently, "Sorry, our Elder Shepherd does not take consultations. Please leave."
After saying this, he was about to close the door.
"Wait...hold on..." Brooke hurriedly rushed forward to prevent him.
This matter concerns whether she’ll secure her position as the young mistress of the Hawthorne Family! How could she give up easily?
She blocked the door, pleading desperately, "Please help us, we’ve co with genuine sincerity this ti, money is not an issue! I beg the healer, his dical skills are superb, he must have a benevolent heart as a healer—he wouldn’t just stand by and watch such an outstanding person remain disabled, right?"
Butler Woods replied coolly, "Our Elder Shepherd does have a healer’s benevolent heart, but he also has his own rules, whether he consults or not is entirely based on his wishes."
At this mont, Chase Lynch hurriedly added, "Of course, but we haven’t even seen him yet, how can we know his wishes?"
Jordan Hawthorne spoke calmly, asking, "Sir, could you allow us to et Elder Shepherd?"
Butler Woods grew impatient, his tone colder, "Sorry, our Elder has been in a bad mood lately, doesn’t et guests, please leave?"
After saying this, with a forceful push, he directly closed the door.
Upon entering, Elder Shepherd happened to co out to check, "Who’s outside making all that noise?"
Butler Woods sneered, "It’s the folks from the Hawthorne Family and the ho-invading, Miss Sabrina-bullying mistress—they want to ask you for treatnt, but I’ve stopped them."
Upon hearing this, Elder Shepherd’s face darkened, "He has the audacity to co? And brought that woman?!"
"Yes!" Butler Woods nodded.
At this ti, outside, Brooke hadn’t expected to be shut out.
Jordan frowned deeply, unexpected to find the other party tougher than anticipated, they didn’t even get to see the Phantom-Hand Healer.
Chase Lynch hesitantly asked, "What should we do now? Should we head back first?"
"How is that possible?!"
Brooke imdiately interrupted, "We struggled to co here. Let’s do this; I’ll try persuading them again, maybe the healer will agree?"
After saying this, Brooke continued ringing the doorbell, loudly calling out into the villa courtyard, "We truly ca with sincerity, begging the healer to give us a chance, I’m kneeling for you...just asking for your help!"
If it’s a show, it must be done for real.
Brooke knelt directly at the door.
She did this not only to seek dical help but to show Jordan Hawthorne.
Inside the villa courtyard.
Butler Woods and Elder Shepherd had already gone inside, and the scene of Brooke kneeling was vividly visible to them through the monitor.
Elder Shepherd showed no sign of softening, with a cold face he said, "Since she likes kneeling so much, let her kneel, she’ll probably leave on her own later."
"Yes!"
Even without Elder Shepherd saying it, Butler Woods thought the sa.
A bit of a lesson should be given to that Sinclairs woman.
Elder Shepherd initially didn’t want to interfere much, but his gaze fell on Brooke outside, and across the screen, he felt the person seed so insincere and full of calculations, which fueled his anger again.
"So clever, with such a bright future, yet bullied by this type, it’s downright useless!!!"
The target of these words was clear to Butler Woods.
He responded with a pleased tone, "Miss Sabrina is inherently good-natured, a good child, how could she play against such calculating people?"
Upon hearing this, Elder Shepherd got angrier.
He admonished, "The depth in aristocracy is imnse, marrying into the Hawthorne Family, what’s the use of goodness? No wonder she’s been devoured until no bones remain!"
Butler Woods consoled him, "You can’t say that, not everyone in this world is as heartless and calculating as the Hawthorne Family..."
Elder Shepherd couldn’t let go of his anger, "Who made her not listen to ?!"
Butler Woods watched him blow his mustache and widen his eyes and chuckled helplessly, knowing fully well this man was tough-talking but tender-hearted, easily feeling for Miss Sabrina.
The more it is, the less rcy for those outside...
Later, Elder Shepherd went to rest, and Butler Woods called over the household maid, instructing her.
A few minutes later, a maid left the house to buy supplies.
Brooke saw soone coming out and quickly grabbed her, "Excuse , is Elder Shepherd willing to see ?"
The maid shook her head, "I’m just a servant, I don’t know about these things, however, Elder Shepherd is a truly good person, and soft-hearted.
There were tis before when people seeking help waited outside for long, and Elder Shepherd, initially unwilling to treat, was moved and eventually agreed to help them."
Upon hearing this, Brooke imdiately felt hopeful, "Alright, I understand, thank you!"
Saying this, she quickly knelt down again, while the maid left.
Who would have thought, this kneeling would last for two hours.
Brooke Sinclairs had never suffered like this before and was already having trouble holding on.
The servant who had left also returned.
Seeing her, Brooke couldn’t help but ask, "When will the old man soften?"
The servant hesitated, "Uh... I don’t know. Should I go ask about it for you?"
Hearing that she was willing to help, Brooke quickly said, "Yes, please, thank you..."
In the end, the servant never ca back.
That evening, as night fell, Jordan Hawthorne finally stepped out of the car with a dark expression and said to Brooke, "Let’s go back. It seems they don’t intend to give us this chance."
"But..."
Brooke showed an anxious look, "Your leg can’t wait..."
"It’s just a few days, it’s not life-threatening."
Jordan replied, "We’ll find another opportunity later, maybe today really wasn’t the right ti."
"Alright, I’ll listen to you then."
Brooke had no choice but to nod in agreent.
After Jordan and Brooke left, Butler Woods received a report.
The elder just happened to co down the stairs, and hearing them talking, he asked Butler Woods, "What are you discussing?"
Seeing him co down, Butler Woods hesitated for a mont but then confessed about deliberately giving Brooke a hard ti.
The elder didn’t intend to bla him, only said, "Why waste ti on that, just chase them away."
Butler Woods smiled and said, "I just thought I’d let Miss Sabrina vent a little. Before, when Miss Sabrina ca, she kneeled outside for half an hour, so Brooke should taste so hardship as well if she’s asking for your help.
But speaking of that Jordan Hawthorne, he’s really nothing. Letting a woman kneel for him for so long, Miss Sabrina really misjudged him before. He’s not soone she can rely on."
The elder snorted, "I never misjudge people, she’s the one not listening to !"
The tone was still filled with resentnt.
But in the next mont, he changed the subject and said, "It’s good they’re divorced, they were never a good match. It’s better to be free sooner, it’s a blessing."
Butler Woods chuckled and responded, "Does this an you’ve forgiven Miss Sabrina?"
Hearing this, the elder stiffened his expression again, "Who said I’ve forgiven her, I haven’t..."
With that, he swept his sleeves and left.
Butler Woods looked at his back and shook his head helplessly, such a stubborn old man...
The next day, Sabrina Hayes ca by again, this ti bringing homade osmanthus cakes, which used to be the elder’s favorite.
However, once again, she didn’t get to see him.
Sabrina felt a bit disappointed in her heart.
Butler Woods saw it, took the gift, and whispered to her, "The elder isn’t as angry anymore. You don’t need to kneel today, just head ho."
Sabrina knew that staying wouldn’t imdiately appease the elder, so she chose to listen to Butler Woods.
"Then I’ll head back now."
Butler Woods nodded.
Shortly after Sabrina left, Brooke ca as well.
This ti, she ca alone.
She had made up her mind to convince the elder to treat Jordan Hawthorne.
Before she even entered the door, Butler Woods, seeing her approaching, coldly told her, "Our elder really doesn’t see patients, why are you back?"
The tone was a bit impatient, as if saying Brooke was pestering.
Hearing this, Brooke felt a bit dissatisfied.
She had kneeled for so long yesterday, should the elder not soften up a bit?
No matter how skilled, such an aloof attitude was a bit too much.
But Brooke didn’t dare say these things.
She swallowed her temper and spoke nicely to Butler Woods, "Sir, we ca in sincerity before and listened to your servant, kneeling for a long ti. Is the elder really unmoved? What must I do to have him agree to treat my love?"
Though her tone was polite, the aning was clear to anyone.
Butler Woods instantly laughed, now showing your true colors as you’ve lost patience?
He coldly replied, "What, are you blaming our elder for being unkind?"
Brooke realized her slip and quickly defended herself, "No, no, I didn’t an it like that, you’ve misunderstood, I was just anxious..."
Butler Woods interrupted, "I see that’s exactly what you an, please leave."
Then, without sparing Brooke any face, he slamd the door in her face.
Brooke stood frozen, not expecting to have offended them so.
But repeated setbacks darkened her expression.
Can you bla her?
Clearly, they were being too difficult!
She had kneeled for so long, what else did they want from her?!
