Chapter 26: 026. Teaching the Sister-in-law A Lesson Chapter 26: 026. Teaching the Sister-in-law A Lesson Editor: Henyee Translations “Yes.”

Elly Campbell responded indifferently, continuing her examination of Lily Jones. Once finished, she straightened up, removed her stethoscope, and said, “Your heart can’t withstand any more strain. It’s best to arrange the surgery imdiately. Your family should discuss it and make the necessary arrangents.”

Her words carried the weight of a doctor’s advice, completely distancing herself from the term “family.”

Elly Campbell had never spoken to her in such a tone before. In the past, Lily had tolerated Elly’s behavior, hoping to get a few kind words in front of her brother.

But now, she was clearly not accustod to, nor willing to accept, such a shift in Elly’s attitude.

“This is my business. I don’t need your help.”

“I am only speaking as a doctor, ethically obligated to inform you of the situation. Whether you want to listen or not is up to you.”

Elly Campbell’s tone remained even as she tucked the stethoscope into her coat pocket. Just then, Adam Jones, having just finished a phone call, entered from outside.

Elly stood with her back to him, while Lily, catching sight of Adam, felt a flash of realization cross her eyes. A montary gleam passed through her gaze, quickly replaced by a calculating expression.

“Elly Campbell, by what right do you speak to with such an attitude? Do you really think you’re my sister-in-law? My brother and I have never acknowledged you.”

Elly Campbell couldn’t help but smile in amusent at Lily Jones’s presumptuousness, a cold, derisive smile tugging at the corner of her lips.

“Such mysterious confidence. You’re just like Adam Jones, truly worthy of being siblings.”

Elly’s expression was filled with mockery.

Lily Jones was taken aback, a flicker of incredulous surprise crossing her eyes—the first ti in many years that Elly Campbell had spoken to her like this. The heavy sarcasm in her words was unmistakable.

“What do you an?” Lily Jones frowned, glaring fiercely at Elly Campbell.

Elly Campbell, no longer interested in beating around the bush with soone like Lily Jones, tossed the dical record folder at her feet. Her voice was sharp as she spoke.

“Lily Jones, I’ve tolerated you in the past, not because I was afraid of you, but because I cared about Adam Jones—and by extension, his sister. But now, I don’t care about Adam Jones anymore. So tell , what are you to ?”

As the final words left her mouth, Elly Campbell’s eyes hardened with coldness.

Lily Jones’s face changed abruptly, her anger so intense that she was left speechless.

Unfazed by the confrontation, Elly Campbell neatly tucked the dical folder away, slipped her hands into her pockets, and began to turn to leave.

But as she did, she noticed Adam Jones standing at the door, his eyes watching her with an unreadable complexity—one she had no intention of deciphering.

Her gaze lingered on his face for a re half-second before she casually swept past him indifferently.

She lifted her chin, like a proud peacock, never bowing her head, and walked past Adam Jones to exit.

Lily Jones was furious, unable to recover her composure even after Elly Campbell had left the ward.

“Look at you. Sister-in-law is the one who saved your life—how can you speak to her like that?”

This ti, Christopher Moore didn’t side with Lily Jones, despite her anger making her face turn pale, which still stirred so sympathy in him.

“Who is your sister-in-law? Don’t call her that!”

Although Lily Jones had always been a spoiled and willful young woman, pampered by wealth, she wasn’t so reckless when it ca to the husband she loved.
