The more Laura Jones interacted with William Wilson, the less reserved she beca.
She felt much more at ease during their conversations.
William Wilson wasn’t soone who excelled at chatting, but in front of Laura Jones, he could comfortably bring up all sorts of topics.
Finally, the conversation turned to William Campbell.
"Does your sister know that my brother wants to pursue her?"
Laura Jones asked, her eyes showing a bit of anticipation.
William Wilson was taken aback for a mont, then recalled the conversation he had with Laura Jones that day, and couldn’t help but feel a bit guilty.
"Not yet, I haven’t told her."
Saying this, he paused, looking at Laura Jones’ frank expression. He didn’t know where this impulse ca from, but he blurted out:
"If my sister doesn’t want to marry your brother, would you marry ?"
Laura Jones was visibly stunned, a bit surprised by William Wilson’s question.
She looked into William Wilson’s calm and honest eyes. Her rational mind told her that William was joking, but she didn’t know why, looking into his eyes, her heartbeat started racing uncontrollably.
If it were before, she would have gladly said yes.
Because she had no other intentions, but at this mont, she just couldn’t bring herself to say the word "yes."
Inside, she felt a bit guilty, with a kind of "a toad wishing to eat swan at" feeling.
Seeing her fall silent all of a sudden, William Wilson assud she didn’t have that many feelings for him, and his heart sank, with the smile on his face gradually fading.
"Don’t you like ?"
William Wilson didn’t realize how embarrassed and uneasy he felt when he asked this question; it was, at least, a very uncomfortable feeling.
"Of course not."
Laura Jones replied without thinking.
After a mont’s thought, she hesitantly asked:
"Are you serious?"
William Wilson didn’t expect her to ask back, and then he understood the aning behind her brief silence a mont ago.
She thought he was joking.
His little girl was completely unaware of her status as a wealthy young lady.
Not to ntion his current identity as soone in the entertainnt industry; even if he were a rich Young Master, did she still think she wasn’t worthy of him?
Ultimately, it was like a fan idolizing her idol; even when close, it still felt out of reach?
William Wilson wasn’t sure if he was comforting himself or explaining Laura Jones’ earlier silence. Either way, he felt better.
He nodded, speaking earnestly:
"Seriously."
This ti, Laura Jones was truly bewildered.
She had not expected that, when she asked this question, William Wilson would answer so seriously.
Just a minute ago, before William Wilson answered her, she could imagine this Movie Emperor smiling at her and saying he was joking.
She suddenly felt a bit at a loss, with a faint blush suffusing her ears.
"It’s okay, you don’t have to answer right away."
It was William Wilson who noticed her hands, nervous and with nowhere to rest, and laughed in a good mood.
He was the first to speak, giving her a way out.
Laura Jones let out a barely perceptible sigh of relief, telling herself that William Wilson was still joking with her.
Once out of this door, it’s nothing.
This ti, Laura Jones really couldn’t sit still with William Wilson anymore and got up to say goodbye.
