Thomas spoke sincerely, fully aware of his understanding of himself in this regard.
"I know how imnse the responsibilities and pressures are in managing such a large enterprise. Ever since I was young, I didn’t want to take over the Smith Family. I didn’t want these kinds of responsibilities."
Olivia knew this too. When she was young, as the eldest daughter of the Smith Family, she certainly wouldn’t care whether her father left the family to Edward or Thomas. After all, once she got married, her parents wouldn’t skimp on her dowry.
But now things are different. She and Thomas are in the sa boat. How could she allow her entire family to have to make a living under Edward’s thumb in the future?
Right now, Edward isn’t married, which is fine, but what if he does marry? If he marries a woman as astute as himself, would she allow Edward to keep supporting his brother?
Olivia thought of Johnson Fefferman, whom Edward always kept in high regard, and her heart shuddered.
If Edward really ends up marrying Johnson, and the couple joins forces, they’d really only get the scraps left by the couple.
"But you can’t just be left with only your salary. Isn’t dad being a bit too biased?"
Thomas had never considered this before, but now, Olivia’s reminder brought it to his attention.
"Then... should I find so ti to ask dad?"
Olivia was delighted, nodding her head, and quickly explained to avoid Thomas thinking too much:
"Second Brother, don’t bla for stirring trouble. I’m thinking about the future of our children, or else we’d really have to go out and face hard tis."
"It’s okay, I don’t bla you. You’re also thinking about our future. I’ll go find dad tomorrow to figure things out."
Thomas held Olivia in his arms with exceptional gentleness.
"Mm."
Olivia leaned into his embrace, nodding vigorously. From an angle Thomas couldn’t see, her lips slowly curled upward.
As long as Thomas can secure shares of the Smith Family, even if they are kicked out later, would she still fear being without money?
anwhile, after Evelyn returned to the room, the more she thought, the angrier she beca. Looking at her husband, she spoke:
"What do you think Edward wants to do? Just seeing Olivia irritates . A girl raised by my side for thirty years, and in such a short ti, I’ve grown to loathe her. Have you thought about how serious her issues are?"
Evelyn prided herself on not being a harsh person, but Olivia had managed to make her despise her to the core in such a short ti, which was rare and unprecedented.
Charles knew his wife had been angered by Olivia lately, and combined with a clueless son, it really drove her mad.
"Alright, alright, don’t be upset. Thomas might be clueless, but are you still worried that Edward isn’t clear-headed? He has his reasons for letting the two of them in."
There was one thing his son ntioned but he hadn’t told his wife.
Lately, Evelyn’s health hasn’t been great, and he feared that telling her would really make her pass out from anger.
The two people called Jas Taylor and Carter Quincy might very well be Olivia’s biological parents.
All it would take is a genetic test of these people to determine this.
But the problem is, there’s no way to prove whether those two intentionally switched the children back then, or if it was a mistake.
If they were to drag them out now, it would certainly alert them, so it’s better to let them fight amongst themselves.
Olivia has now entered the Smith Family, and the Taylor Family won’t possibly let such a juicy opportunity slip by.
They don’t have to do anything, just sit back and watch the show.
