The couple exchanged a smile and said:
"Alright, then let’s stay at Mom and Dad’s place. With Mom here keeping company, I won’t be bored."
Ever since Helen lendy learned that she lost her first child due to her health issues, she has been extrely cautious about this pregnancy.
Especially after Doctor Gresia ntioned that her fetal condition was unstable and needed rest, she stopped going to the law firm, delegating so of her work to assistant attorneys under her supervision.
Other cases were assigned to experienced and capable active lawyers, allowing her to rest and take care of her pregnancy at ho.
With her daughter around, Evelyn Taylor was pleased, and the family felt harmonious. Evelyn then turned her attention to Edward Smith, who was quietly eating his al.
"What about you? It’s like asking you to commit a cri when we tell you to find a wife. Why is it so difficult?"
Edward had long expected his mother to trouble him again. He had planned to finish his al quietly without saying a word and leave, but he still couldn’t escape.
"Mom, finding a wife is much harder than committing a cri."
Edward helplessly put down his chopsticks, facing his mother’s reproachful gaze, feeling a bit of a headache.
"Ha! Is that so? I dare you to post a marriage ad and see if finding a wife is that hard."
Edward: "..."
"Mom, are you asking to marry just anyone? If I found soone like Olivia Smith, would you accept that?"
"Don’t you dare!"
ntioning Olivia Smith easily set Evelyn off.
If her son married soone like Olivia and brought her into the Smith Family, there would never be peace at ho.
"There you go."
Edward shrugged helplessly, then said:
"Mom, don’t worry. I won’t find a woman like Olivia, but my dear brother might."
Evelyn’s face, previously smiling, suddenly turned serious. She imdiately understood the aning behind her son’s words.
"What do you an? Is that brat involved with that woman?"
Edward pursed his lips and smiled without answering, but it was evident he confird Evelyn’s suspicions.
Evelyn’s expression turned as dark as a stormy cloud.
After a mont, she said:
"There’s no need to tell about that brat’s affairs in the future. Whoever foolishly gets involved with disreputable won is none of my concern. Our Smith Family doesn’t harbor such fools."
Edward nodded, choosing not to say more.
Using his brother as a decoy had helped him dodge the issue for now.
Originally in a good mood, Evelyn was now filled with rage over Thomas and Olivia’s situation. She lost her appetite and barely ate anything.
After dinner, the family gathered in the living room to watch TV. Afraid his mother would vent on him again, Edward quickly found several excuses to escape upstairs to his room.
Helen and her husband stayed to accompany the parents, not leaving.
At that mont, the butler walked in, looking troubled, "Old Master, Lady, the Second Young Master and Miss Olivia are outside."
Evelyn, already furious with those two, had her remaining patience worn thin. The fact that they dared show up only added fuel to the fire.
"Have the security guards throw them out imdiately."
Evelyn spoke rcilessly.
"Yes."
The butler had thought that enough ti had passed for the Old Master and Lady’s anger to subside, but he hadn’t expected the Lady’s temper to be this enduring, holding a grudge against the Second Young Master for so long.
However, the Second Young Master’s conduct had indeed been unacceptable, and if word got out, it would be quite embarrassing for the family.
Just earlier he had seen the Second Young Master standing outside holding hands with Miss Olivia, appearing intimate rather than like siblings.
