Capítulo 2010: Chapter 2010: Sumr Hall Side Story (212)

Shannon Richards was left speechless by Helen lendy’s question, looking at Helen’s sarcastic expression, a barely detectable hint of anger flashed in her eyes.

But since Edward Smith was present, she could only suppress this anger, forcing a smile and saying:

“You really know how to joke, cousin-in-law.”

“I’m not joking.”

Helen lendy retorted directly, deep down she despised people like Shannon Richards.

Leanne Richards might be annoying, but her love for Shannon Richards, her niece, was genuine, even an outsider like Helen could see that.

But Shannon Richards could just sell out her aunt Leanne for her own benefit.

Such a person was even more detestable than the fool Leanne.

And Helen had no intention of wasting ti pretending with soone like Shannon Richards.

Without waiting for Shannon to speak, and not caring about her glancing at Edward, tears brimming in her eyes from grievance, Helen arrogantly lifted her chin, saying:

“How did you get in? When you ca begging for an invitation the other day, didn’t I send you away?”

At this mont, Helen lendy perfectly embodied the role of an abrasive and harsh heiress.

Edward Smith stood silently beside her. Although he didn’t recognize the woman who suddenly approached, he could clearly feel his sister’s dislike for this person.

And it was obvious that the Smith Family hadn’t sent this person an invitation—did she sneak in?

The battlefield of won wasn’t sothing he wanted to get involved in, but considering that the person beside him was his long-lost sister, as her brother, he had to help her hold her ground.

Therefore, he stayed by Helen’s side without leaving, which happened to align with Shannon Richards’ intentions.

The harsher Helen was to this weak-looking girl, the more pitiful she appeared in Edward’s eyes.

As long as Edward spoke up for her, she could seize the opportunity to strike up a conversation with him.

Thinking this, she bit her lip, putting on a very awkward expression, and laughed dryly saying:

“Cousin-in-law, I genuinely wanted to celebrate your birthday. After I left that day, I wanted to ask my aunt to bring , but she refused and threw Mr. Smith’s invitation into the trash…”

With that, she glanced weakly at Edward.

What disappointed her was that Edward didn’t look at her, instead gazing intently at the wineglass in his hand, lost in thought.

Shannon Richards let out a slight, disappointed sigh and continued,

“I advised my aunt not to always go against you, but she wouldn’t listen. As her junior, I couldn’t force her, so I thought of taking the invitation and personally coming over to apologize on her behalf to you and Mr. Smith.”

Saying so, she cast a hopeful look towards Edward.

Helen lendy raised an eyebrow with a smile.

Just like that, she sold out her aunt Leanne; Shannon Richards was truly shaless.

This invitation was most likely sothing this shaless woman deceived out of Leanne.

Helen didn’t respond to her, just looked at her with a half-smile.

Edward didn’t pay her any attention, which made Shannon Richards’ smile beco increasingly stiff and awkward.

Whether Helen would respond to her didn’t matter much; she was just hoping to strike up a conversation with Edward.

But unfortunately, Edward didn’t speak a word to her, didn’t even spare her a glance, leaving Shannon Richards extrely disappointed inside.

After waiting and waiting, still unable to receive even a glance from Edward, she could only take the initiative and say:

“Mr. Smith, it’s a pleasure to et you.”
